So I've been looking at getting into streaming properly. I've got a decent understanding of it all from a software perspective, but right now I'm looking for an HDMI (or DVI/VGA?) capture card.
I'm looking for something that is laptop compatible (that gives you USB, 1394 and ExpressCard). My one stipulation is that it has to be capable of allowing me to still output 1080p 60 to a monitor. I don't mind if that is through use a seperate splitter device/direct pass through/etc. I only intend to actually stream at 720p, 1080p capability would merely be a bonus.
So far, the only devices I've found which do that are the BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle (which is a no-go because its USB 3.0 and an expresscard USB3 adapter doesn't have enough bandwidth) and the Matrox MXO2 Mini (which is just a little more than I'd really like to spend).
Also another option I considered was just getting a cheap 72-p HDMI ExpressCard Input and then using a splitter which could downscale, but I'm not sure whether such a thing exists, or would even make cost sense.
Hopefully someone who knows their shit a little better can help.
Cheers, Adam
