In the facebook messages, Gus clearly said, he'd pay out of his own pocket if the money didn't come. He also refused to contact Yoon during this whole ordeal and ended the facebook messages with "good luck with that" when Yoon said he'd tell this to the community. Gus clearly was arrogant there and never imagined it would blow up like this. I don't buy this apology one bit.
The funny thing is, Yoon was already replacing someone who had earned the right to go (the guy who got 2nd place) but later turned down the invitation. So what did Gus do? First he tried to bribe Moonglade (who Yoon actually beat in the Australian tourney) with a spot in the Qualifiers as long as Moonglade agreed to join AZK for 3 months (Moonglade declined). Then Gus tried to argue with Dox that they only had to bring over the top 2 finishers at the Australian tourney and didn't have to bring Yoon. Eventually he said he'd take Yoon, but obviously that never happened.
Good public relations is paying the money you owe and being legit, not writing a stupid empty apology on a forum which addresses nothing.
I hope IGN learns from this and, in the future, places their trust in someone who's proven themselves to be dedicated, not someone full of promises and delivers nothing.
The only good thing to come out of this is that you're officially dead to the SEA community and you've been publicly shamed by the entire SC2 community around the world. You're absolutely pitiful. I hope that you have difficulty sleeping at night and that all of this karma comes back to bite you. This apology meant nothing, the money is still gone and the players are still out of pocket. You had no REAL explanation as to why YoonYJ wasn't catered for (that's what the IPL's money was for.. right?). If you couldn't handle the job of hosting the PPSL, then you should have passed the mantle on to more capable people.
Also, I hope that this gives more coverage to the SEA scene. Maybe you did do something well after all... you got us much needed publicity on the world stage (albeit for the wrong reasons).
IPL there will be no excuse if you ever utilize the services of this dishonorable word smith. He has very diplomatic writing and I can see how he could have been deceiving to players and to IPL, but knowing everything that has occurred, they CANNOT be permitted to associate with any credible eSport or Starcraft II organization.
This man brings shame to everyone in AZK and they would be behooved to cut him asap.
I can only hope that the actions an individual/individuals do not reflect on the AZK entirely, only on the ones responsible for this mess nor towards the Filipino and SEA community as a whole.
There's a lot of good people there and I'm afraid to say it, but bad seeds or pure incompetence, whatever way you decide to view it, exists in most communities.

From the SEA community, thanks a lot.
I think it's past that. He obviously doesn't care about public relations. His apology was weak & explained nothing. He dodged the whole YoonYJ thing & why they didn't do the HON event.
He is not even bothering to reply to the questions in his own apology thread !

To be fair, IPL accepted a good amount of the blame for that. pdd posted a recap of David Ting admitting he put too much trust in someone who members of his team were wary of...
I don't get what the purpose of him writing this is. He didn't clarify anything about the biggest part which is the money, and there is a whole lot of proof showing that half of what he said any ways is bullshit. He might as well have just disappeared from the SC2 scene than write this shitty ass apology to try to ease him back in to e-sports. We dont need people like him.

the writing is hardly diplomatic. diplomatic writing wouldn't leave everyone who reads it with a feeling of "wtf are u trying to pull"
that being said, i agree with you wholeheartedly this guy is fuckkedd upp
Gus sounds self serving as his actions in regards to the PPSL has dictated. This "apology" stands in line with this attitude. A lot of responsibility was put on him and he failed in all regards.
Oh man this is really quite sad. Have fun being excluded from the community from now on, really hard to fix all the crap you did with a bunch of "sorry"s.
Pls look at my post, and give me feedback whether I am being unreasonable or not. I will appreciate the feedback. You can find it at http://www.sc2sea.com/showthread.php?t=2699
