Sorry, I have been reading a lot about this story and have no clue what is going on still (what the fuck is the ppsl, something ign sponsored, why is there a tournie in the phillipines? was like idra and such normal people there? anyways...), but my ignorance aside, why does no one believe this guy?

I can (sort of) understand if you don't like him, but is it a matter of you don't believe him? I mean stealing, bad management, whatever, as long as this guy isn't on the lamb, can't he just simply be held accountable for any missing money? Besides legal action, it doesn't exactly sound like he's trying to run away.

I mean if he's incompetent, I get it. Great. But besides 'sorry' for management issues that we just do better about next time, the issue of problems that can be fixed, isn't he going to fix it? Do you guys not believe him or something?

I mean doesn't someone from TL know where this guy is right? Is he just in the bahamas right now with loads of cash, or is he somewhere, after saying he'll correct the situation?

Why did you post without reading lol

Greetings,

First and foremost, the PPSL would like to formally apologise to everyone (IGN, our sponsors, the players, organisers, special guests and the viewers) who were involved with the IPL4 Pacific Qualifiers. The PPSL takes full responsibility for the way everything has unfolded, and would like to make it clear that it was no one else's fault but ours.

As most people already know, the event has suffered several technical difficulties throughout the last couple of days. A lot of the players were experiencing both internet latency issues, aswell as computer lag issues. Even with our continual efforts to bring the specifications of the computers, as well as the stream quality up to an excellent playable/viewable experience, we were unable to provide what everyone deserved, and for that, we are truly sorry.

We would now like to clarify a few things that many people have asked about concerning individuals not being able to attend the event.

As most people know, the event has suffered from management problems that we are responsible for and am trying to deal with accordingly. I apologise if this has angered the e-sports communities, that have been affected by this.

First is YoJun "YoonYJ" Yun, who recently participated in the Australian Qualifier, hosted by Derek "Dox" Reball. He was unable to secure 1st or 2nd place, and as such was initially unable to attend. Another player, who qualified, had to step down for personal reasons. YoJun was considered as the replacement to attend the event alongside David "arcMSIRossi" Rossi. However, there were a few complications associated with funding (not IPL's fault), and subsequently, I was unable to send him to the event. For that, we deeply apologize and wish YoJun the best in his future endeavors. He will be compensated for flights and accommodations in the future; I have spoken with YoonYJ personally, apologised and have put past the problems between us. He has accepted my apology, and has agreed to help resurrect this situation. I would also like to apologize to Derek "Dox" Reball for any misunderstandings that may have happened with the Australian Leg of the Qualifiers; he is an excellent events/tournament organizer and should be given attention for his passion for e-sports.

There has also been talk about other tournaments not releasing their cash prizes on time; I would like to reassure everyone that the cash prizes were given out to all the winners of the tournament as soon as the tournament ended.

To the members of Team Cube, we apologize for not being able to fly your players over to the event; I feel bad about you guys not being here; in the future we will try our utmost best to invite you to events as compensation for your team not being represented at the event.

To the Players for the HONslaught event; I would like to apologize for not being able to accommodate you guys during the IPL 4 Pacific Qualifier event; our sponsors (S2 Games) have decided to postpone the tournament to a later date.

We would also like to personally thank the following people for their ongoing assistance and support at the event.

- "TorcH"(Ops Manager)
- "SeltzerPlease" (Host)
- Allyn (Host)
- "Artosis" (Caster)
- "Tasteless" (Caster)
- "CheekyDuck" (Caster)
- "LiviBee" (Caster)
- "The GunRun" (Stream Support)
- KTgameone (Stream Support)
- All of our sponsors and partners

and last but not the least

- Staff and Crew from the PPSL and Team AZK

We would also like to thank all of our sponsors for providing us the necessary resources, as well as IGN for their support they have given us during this event.

There were plans to make this event go smoothly as possible; however we didn't have enough time to make the necessary preparations in coordinating the logistics and various minor details. As some may say, little things add up to big things, and we had failed to consider that in our judgment. We shall take this as an invaluable learning experience and we hope to do much better in the future. We shall take every possible bit of expertise this and improve as a team.

The audience here in the Philippines did seem to enjoy the show and we hope to bring more of the same kind of experience to them in the future. As far as promoting StarCraft II in this country is concerned, we feel that we somehow succeeded in that aspect and showed local audiences how exciting this wonderful game truly is. May this be the spark that lights the fire for StarCraft II here in the Philippines so that others can do much better than we did.

Our intention was to provide a wonderful experience, and we understand that we had failed to provide the superior level of quality that IGN, the viewers, the sponsors, and
the players deserved. We are sincerely sorry for the way these issues have popped up at this event and i know for a fact that all the major tournaments experienced some of the issues that we experienced as well.

I hope that this clears some of the confusion that has been going around.

You are a filthy retarded scam artist who got caught cos u wernt smart enough to pull it off, and because we are not dumb enough to fall for it.

u need to give all the money back to the appropriate people, you need to ACTUALLY apologise, (because this bullshit is not one)

and then you need to hide in a hole and never come back out again, you are not welcome in this community, you are a bad human being, and the fact that this pathetic attempt to trick us with this OP and wriggle your way out of it is further evidence.

you are a thief, a criminal and a scoundrel, and u deserve to be sued. or far worse imo

Fuck You.

MLG needs some real competition. It sucks that MLG can't change anything mid-season, but maybe they should lose viewers for that anyway. Only the best should survive.

This doesn't. IPL came out with a statement explaining some stuff on their end. Everyone has been blindsided by the events that have taken place.

Gus Ledesma, your name is mud. Not on an internet forum. Not in the Starcraft community. In the real world.

Team AZK? It's done too. This might be unfortunate, considering some members apparently are hard working and honest. But you ruined their clan, and nobody will ever take them seriously again.

You need to start explaining things.

My advice is to just drop everything you are doing in eSports and forget it, it wasn't meant to be - go live your life in an avenue in which you don't potentially ruin others. Man up to what you owe and give up the pipe dream of being the next big thing.

This apology is quite the joke

How about you pay Yoon and Dox for the contract you broke?

Just for sake of clarity, he owes me no money as I agreed to run the entire Australian Qualifier for free. But I would like to see YoonYJ compensated for the travel & accommodation money he would have otherwise been eligible for. Apparently Gus intends to pay this money to Yoon in February.

With all that he's done and people questioning him, he's explained nothing and says nothing about fixing the money problems.
He also says he couldn't pay for YoonYJ's flight because of funding problem(when it was already funded for) meaning something happened to that money.
The impression this post gives is: I apologize, I won't do it again. -eats the missing money-

You can't possibly expect people to trust him or accept this poorly written apology.

Replying because I recognize your name.

Apologizing usually comes with a course of action or at the very least, promise of action. When a person apologizes, he better outline what he is going to do to make it better. What he's done is "I'm sorry. I'll do a better job next time." He should be saying, "I'll be compensating the staff, I'm on my way to the hotel, I'll be handing over the cash to Cube, etc etc etc".

A course of action should always follow an apology. From the way the apology is written, it sounds like he's going to run the same tournament next time. Even with a detailed apology, he would be lucky to gain the trust of the community. I'm surprised that you actually believe him. He's not only incompetent in running a tournament, but writing an apology.

Why is it that I don't believe a word that comes out of your filthy untruthful mouth...

So far your correspondence has been naught but lies and undelivered promises, you have yet to even account for all the money involved, whilst leaving people in the lurch, and screwing over other professional teams sponsors.

(Imagine the HoN teams sponsors surprise when the pay to have their players compete in a tournament that will likely not occur...???)

(Note: No disrespect intended to all the players of AZK. I'm sure there are some good ones.)

You, Gus "AZKWitchdoc" Ledesma, are a BLIGHT and a SORE on the face of International E-sports. Your transgression will likely cost the SC2 scene in SEA its reputation with international sponsors. I pray the the E-sports scene in SEA (and specifically for the Philippines) can recover from the horrendous damage you have caused, and that sponsors will be willing to try again in our region.

It is scum like you that facilitate the need of a SC2 player Union, and I sincerely hope that those players around you with half a brain will get out now, before he drags you down with him. As I doubt he will take any responsibility.

To his teammates in Team AZK, while I mean no disrespect, you should all show Gus what you think about his actions with your feet! Assholes like him need to be shown that we as a community will not tolerate this shit! LEAVE...create your own clan/Team and promote E-sports in your country without the f&#@heads. You don't need people like him around your team, trust me!

Lastly, Witchdoc...I Sincerely hope you get what's comming to you. A 4x4 room with no windows and some soap on a fucking rope...dickhead!

This must be some sort of joke or he thinks were all stupid. Why waste your time writing this when all of us know pretty much what is going on right now and no one here is even going to think about believing what you say. On top of that you don't even address the real problems and lay out some stupid post "trying" to apologize knowing your going to get flamed for it. I hope people on that team get out fast and find a better home because as far as most of us are concerned you and the way you run things are a complete joke.

Why did you post without reading lol
Gus is a joke.

I read his apology, and read all the stuff about the tournament. People also said blizzcon was the WORST TOURNAMENT EVER but being there, and seeing the games played at the pro section (where you could watch them play their actual games, even the ones not televised) I got to see a lot of stuff that people didn't see on stream.

My point being, is when peopel first started saying OMG WORST TOURNIE EVER I was a bit dubious and thought they were just being redditors.

So I'm not completely up to things on this, but I read the apology. I'm not asking for an explanation of what occured, I'm just wondering what people expect. So you don't believe him, great, but he's going to have to account for his actions one way or the other. His post here shows to me that he at least hasnt fled the country, so as long as that isn't an issue, it's quite easy for even the police to just fucking find him.

LOL.

Imho, part of what Gus should do to try n get out of this mess is be totally transparent with the finances. Show how much exactly was received from the various sponsors, and how each $ was spent. Like a non-profit organization. Any unspent money must be into reserve for future tournaments (to be headed by someone competent). For causing so much pain n stress to so many people, no way Gus can profit from this debacle.
