The penalty of prision correccional in its maximum period to prision mayor in its minimum period, if the amount of the fraud is over 12,000 pesos but does not exceed 22,000 pesos, and if such amount exceeds the latter sum, the penalty provided in this paragraph shall be imposed in its maximum period, adding one year for each additional 10,000 pesos; but the total penalty which may be imposed shall not exceed twenty years.... ...provided that in the four cases mentioned, the fraud be committed by any of the following means: 1. With unfaithfulness or abuse of confidence, namely: (b) By misappropriating or converting, to the prejudice of another, money, goods, or any other personal property received by the offender in trust or on commission, or for administration, or under any other obligation involving the duty to make delivery of or to return the same, even though such obligation be totally or partially guaranteed by a bond; or by denying having received such money, goods, or other property. Probably not gonna apply. It depends on the contract between Gus and IPL/IGN. It has to be juridical possession not in the concept of an owner. Also, the misappropriation hasn't been shown yet - only a mismanagement (Though I do feel that there was a diversion of funds that occurred here. Anyway, the audit will show that later on.) Again, I hope people just don't jump the gun on the criminal case thing cause that's a different level of malice altogether. Had Gus absconded right away, I'd be the first to support a complaint (heh, a funny practice here in the Philippines: you have the arrest warrant issued on a Friday, so that when the police pick up the person, he can't post bail until Monday so those 2 days in jail are usually more than enough to convince him/her to settle).

I'd also like a response from tastosis seeing as they hyped this event quite a bit, I hope they know of all the troubles and stop hyping. ~_~

The ironic thing is that this Gus dude is ACTUALLY HURTING ESPORTS! Which is weird, because I think a lot of the time when people say something is killing or hurting esports, they're saying it because it's a common phrase in the sc2 community.... but this time it's actually true.

If Gus really wanted to make up for the trainwreck that he created then he'd better start showing people that instead of posting a desultory apology and ninja vanishing. Do some damage control, start paying out your debts, respond to the EXACT criticisms that are being leveled at you instead of this pathetic blanket sorry. We don't need an apology, we need you to make shit right. If you were any kind of decent human being and any sort of credible organizer you would make yourself visible and start making shit right.

Probably not, I have a theory that from the start of the tournament Gus just kept running his mouth about how big he could get it and how big his e-peen would get when he takes SOLE credit for making everything happen (had it gone off without a hitch) without even putting a SINGLE thought into anything resembling logistics. Eventually he just promised a lot of people a lot of stuff without realizing how much the whole thing would actually cost. Then I guess he just woke up on game day and realized he couldn't afford any of it, even with IGN's funding,

Whether we like it or not this looks utterly pitiful for the SEA community, even though this was not their fault. This was the fault of a nim-witted idiot who thought he could get away with scamming a prestigious organization like IGN. You sir, have embarrassed yourself, your team, and your community. Congratulations.

The PPSL takes full responsibility for the way everything has unfolded, and would like to make it clear that it was no one else's fault but ours. As most people already know, the event has suffered several technical difficulties throughout the last couple of days. A lot of the players were experiencing both internet latency issues, aswell as computer lag issues. Even with our continual efforts to bring the specifications of the computers, as well as the stream quality up to an excellent playable/viewable experience, we were unable to provide what everyone deserved, and for that, we are truly sorry. We would now like to clarify a few things that many people have asked about concerning individuals not being able to attend the event. As most people know, the event has suffered from management problems that we are responsible for and am trying to deal with accordingly. I apologise if this has angered the e-sports communities, that have been affected by this. First is YoJun "YoonYJ" Yun, who recently participated in the Australian Qualifier, hosted by Derek "Dox" Reball. He was unable to secure 1st or 2nd place, and as such was initially unable to attend. Another player, who qualified, had to step down for personal reasons. YoJun was considered as the replacement to attend the event alongside David "arcMSIRossi" Rossi. However, there were a few complications associated with funding (not IPL's fault), and subsequently, I was unable to send him to the event. For that, we deeply apologize and wish YoJun the best in his future endeavors. He will be compensated for flights and accommodations in the future; I have spoken with YoonYJ personally, apologised and have put past the problems between us. He has accepted my apology, and has agreed to help resurrect this situation. I would also like to apologize to Derek "Dox" Reball for any misunderstandings that may have happened with the Australian Leg of the Qualifiers; he is an excellent events/tournament organizer and should be given attention for his passion for e-sports. There has also been talk about other tournaments not releasing their cash prizes on time; I would like to reassure everyone that the cash prizes were given out to all the winners of the tournament as soon as the tournament ended. To the members of Team Cube, we apologize for not being able to fly your players over to the event; I feel bad about you guys not being here; in the future we will try our utmost best to invite you to events as compensation for your team not being represented at the event. To the Players for the HONslaught event; I would like to apologize for not being able to accommodate you guys during the IPL 4 Pacific Qualifier event; our sponsors (S2 Games) have decided to postpone the tournament to a later date. We would also like to personally thank the following people for their ongoing assistance and support at the event. - "TorcH"(Ops Manager) - "SeltzerPlease" (Host) - Allyn (Host) - "Artosis" (Caster) - "Tasteless" (Caster) - "CheekyDuck" (Caster) - "LiviBee" (Caster) - "The GunRun" (Stream Support) - KTgameone (Stream Support) - All of our sponsors and partners and last but not the least - Staff and Crew from the PPSL and Team AZK We would also like to thank all of our sponsors for providing us the necessary resources, as well as IGN for their support they have given us during this event. There were plans to make this event go smoothly as possible; however we didn't have enough time to make the necessary preparations in coordinating the logistics and various minor details. As some may say, little things add up to big things, and we had failed to consider that in our judgment. We shall take this as an invaluable learning experience and we hope to do much better in the future. We shall take every possible bit of expertise this and improve as a team. The audience here in the Philippines did seem to enjoy the show and we hope to bring more of the same kind of experience to them in the future. As far as promoting StarCraft II in this country is concerned, we feel that we somehow succeeded in that aspect and showed local audiences how exciting this wonderful game truly is. May this be the spark that lights the fire for StarCraft II here in the Philippines so that others can do much better than we did. Our intention was to provide a wonderful experience, and we understand that we had failed to provide the superior level of quality that IGN, the viewers, the sponsors, and the players deserved. We are sincerely sorry for the way these issues have popped up at this event and i know for a fact that all the major tournaments experienced some of the issues that we experienced as well. I hope that this clears some of the confusion that has been going around. Regards, Nice post. Pay your hotel bills.

I don't even think he was intentionally scamming people, but rather he literally had no clue what the heck he was doing. Yeah. I think he's just an arrogant idiot who thought he and his group would be e-famous if he arranged a super-cool tournament with all these big-name people so he took in a bunch of responsibilities without thinking about costs or logistics until he was in way over his head. The fact that he constantly kept on bragging how he was hanging out with Tastosis shows how obsessed he is with getting the big names onboard. Also, I think you'd literally have to be mentally retarded to have planned conning all these people like this and think you can get away with it. Bribing Moonglade, cancelling TeamCube's flights so the people from his team would advance; and not sending in YoonYJ though...I think that's a whole other matter. I think that really was deceitful behavior.

Normally I'd agree with you, but Gus had many people who came forward with information, ideas, suggestions and criticisms, and he ignored all of it. People who had experience running successful tournaments in the Philippines, who volunteered to be part of his staff, raised many issues months before PPSL was even announced to the wider community. It wasn't because Gus was trying to be a smartass and do things his own way, but because he already had a preconceived idea of how things would go down - all to his own benefit.

It felt a bit weird today during their GSL cast they only mentioned how great the tournament was. Made me like them a bit less. (just from 100% likable to 99%) When being in the frontline and all eyes pointed at you already because you have been drinking with that gus guy, you could at least say something like: we can't go in details but unfortunately some things went really wrong too and we feel sorry for people who were treated badly and hope everything will be solved.
