This is an EMBARRASSMENT. I hope this thread blows up all over reddit and TL so that tourney organizers change their ways.

The topic seems to have been avoided in SC2 so far so if this is really happenening it is time for the subject to be brought up.

If 90% of them are not paying you anyway, what does it matter if they quit hosting tours? They didnt award anything for winning it , so it was a waste of time to begin with ![]() On November 01 2011 00:58 RevThirteen wrote: Is there no way to take legal action with a lawyer against these tournaments? Im sure there is a way to seek legal action. The tournament states that attaining X ranking will pay X amount of dollars. ClouD attains said rank, thus is entitled to said amount of dollars. Im not sure how they could argue against that.

If not, then regardless of the prize pools, regardless of the number of professional gamers and teams, regardless of the number of sponsors; e-sports will never become big business.

But i guess players will still try their luck even if there's only a small change they'll get paid. But it would help bigger names to decide between two tournaments tough

I could understand a little bit from a small starting tournament but totally not from ESL, Dreamhack etc. Why organise a tournament if you can't pay the prize money asap. There is so much organisation involved, so many people working for them, surely prizes are part of the bookkeeping? TL could step in here. Not something negative like a blacklist, but maybe some kind of ranking in their stream summary. 5 stars for fast payment, 1 star for bad payment. Pro players can also do something about it, boycot the bad paying tournaments. Weird to see that Nasl, while getting all kinds of shit and boycotts, pays fairly fast when having one of the highest amounts of total prizemoney.

I don't know much of the law concerning this, but it sounds borderline criminal. How can a player, or anyone, trust or respect a company that does stick to their word, especially in matters of money. If they can't abide by easily the most important aspect of a tournament, why should they continue to be supported in any way. They should be made an example of and pave the way for new, responsible organizations.

It's Valve so we can be pretty sure they got paid... most tournaments that don't pay are actually willing to pay but can't because they don't get the money from the sponsors or not as much as promised.
