Kind of disappointed by many parts of WOL. what the campaign? who played this game for story? aside from lore nerds.. I know some people care about story and stuff. But really this game is about playing against other players. WC3 had a better story then starcraft imo. most people don't play wow for lore they play it for pvp or pve progression unless you are RP server person... Balance issues are different compared to the game mechanics. Battle.net 0.2 is the biggest gripe next to some balance issues of races. fix carriers not make a quick fix and give a retarded 1a muta destoryer

though i haven't really played any games which would have a story or something with a story worth playing. -_-' I played bayonetta like what 3 years or ago or whatever.. but that was purely cause who made it and it had a sexy british witch who had guns and stuff, story weak good game play. Bastion was cute, neat story and steam punky. Cata ruined wow imo lol for me and a chunk of people. been off of it for a couple years.

Have fun playing WOL with the other 100 remaining nerds while everysingle tournament you watch is HOTS. I don't even know why we are disgussing whether or not people will buy, this is a starcraft website, and even worse a hardcore site, 99% of the regular viewers will most definetly buy hots, those bitching right now will buy anyways. U payed 40 bucks for WOL. Let's just compare this to another random game. Let's say you also bought Portal 2 for 40 bucks. You played through portal 2 multiple times, played the coop campaign and some other stuff. And lets say you really enjoyed that game so you came back several times for further playthroughs, even if you add up all of that you probably won't spent 100 hours on portal 2. Now WoL, let's say the average game takes 10 real minutes and you are kinda of a casual player so you play like 15 games a week. Thats two and a half hour per week. Let's assume you bought the game on release on July 27 that means if this was your average you'd have spent about 430 hours on wol by now. And given that this is a competitive site I'm sure most users have played a lot more than that, so to honestly bitch about having to pay for hots (any amount really) is just kind of retarded. WoL has brought you more value than almost anything else you could buy for an equal amount of money, so to invest some more for even more valuer over an extended perioud of time is actually pretty much reasonable. Yes I'd have prefered if sc2 would have just come out as one complete game with 3 campaigns etc., but at the end of the day even if both expansions would cost 40 bucks you would have a hard time finding any games for the same amount of money that would give you that many hours.

That said, I'm really worried about HotS' new multiplayer units. They look either mostly useless (tempest, swarm host) or hugely op (viper, shredder, battle hellion, nexus recall). I guess that's dangerously close to a post about balance, so I'll cease. Regardless, yay for it being 40$ instead of 60$

If Blizzard releases some collectors addition I will be more than happy to fork over more for it. For those of you who aren't willing to spend $40, that's kinda sad. I suggest not playing video games at all. Blizzard will be fine without your business. What a fantastic first post, I must say. "Anyone who isn't willing to spend $65 on an expansion pack should not play any video games forever and is pathetic."

Motherfuckin' BROOD WAR was $30 in 1998. $15 buys you 3x horse armor nowadays. Good luck with that.

Good luck with that. Brood War offered 3 new campaigns. You know, since we're going down the "Campaigns matter" path. I personally think the campaign is rather a waste of time and shouldn't be considered at all in these discussions since, at the end of the day, all anyone cares about is the multiplayer. However, if people are going to trot around going, "Oh, but you get a full new campaign! It's worth $40!" -- know this. Brood War gave 3 new campaigns and 3 new units per race, and it was still cheaper than this expansion. I don't mind the price as much, especially since they may lower it. However, what I am worried about is that this game still costs $60 in a lot of places as it stands and by the time this expansion comes out, it could potentially cost $100 to even start playing at the current level. Think about that for a moment: one hundred dollars, just to start playing a game. Do you honestly think that that is going to encourage new players to start in an already dwindling community overall? I hope they lower the price, or they do some sick bundle deal honestly.

Exactly exactly exactly! This is a fucking Starcraft website. Why are people who are obviously into SC2 (simply by the fact they have an account and are posting on TL) quibbling over a price $10 above their expectations? If you love this game like you should shut up and buy it!

If you love this game like you should shut up and buy it! I do love this game dearly, but it's more of cautious worry, you have to understand. I'll buy this expansion simply because I love this game and I want it to succeed. However, what I am worried about is that SC2 is quite literally bleeding players, and forcing a $40 price tag on top of a $60 for WoL, is only going to harm this game which I so passionately want to succeed. It's also the fact that Brood War pumped out 3x as much content as this expansion, theoretically, and it was still less than it. I don't want to see something bad happen just because Blizzard is greedy. I know it's just $10, but there is a massive difference to the average consumer when looking at a $30 and a $40 pricetag for something.

If it makes you feel better you can think of HotS as 3 zerg campaigns or WoL as 3 T campaigns. The number of missions is (essentially) the same. The number of new units/changes is essentially the same. As for cheaper, yes but that was 10+ years ago. Brood Wars was more expensive in today money (~$43). $40 has been the norm for Blizzard expansions since WC3. It's not going to hurt sales.
