Does the Oracle provide detection? If so, Stargate openings will become standard in PvP.

Stargate has detection and Protoss has base defense that comes with gateway tech. All is good in the world. :D

New units starting out OP compared to the old.. Even tho protoss got the short end their units are still good. Pray they balance this!

the viper will NOT come with the lair. it will come with the spire. which is lair tech. zerg will NEVER get a caster unit just by going to T2. think about that for a tiny second and you'll figure.


Right, it's totally impossible to make the pseudo dark swarm&pulling stuff an upgrade and Blizzard will leave zergs in their base with their sporecrawlers until spire finishes.

Then kill the collosus because as I said earlier in the thread collosus is the single worst unit when it comes to making the game interesting. Ignore the balance of it because you can just adjust balance assuming its not there and think about what it forces the protoss army to be. They have to be clumped up in one big ball to maximize the collosus' tight area of dmg favoring only small harass instead of full on multi pronged attacks.

Phase shift should just be stasis and should have a small AOE.

As for the mineral blocking thing... it COULD work really well, as long as the spell has a massive duration and tons of hitpoints. If it's as bad as contaminate is, they may as well not even bother.

Amazing stuff, but do you guys remember the WoL initial announcement and such? Or the early beta? Photon cannons that can move? LOL. It's the same deal again. Half of these awesome units won't be half as good as they are, a week into beta, so don't worry too much.

Hellibats: this opens up so much potential for T I'm a bit baffled by all the negativity. I guess most T wanted another new unit instead? Honestly though, you mass hellions right? You can take out bases and wipe out mineral fields and shit, right? Now you can also literally rush back all the way from opp base to home when you see a swarm of lings coming out of the opp base and "mount up" and deal. Sounds pretty sick to me.

Thor -> Warhound: this is such a buff. Try massing thors and making them go up that ramp, navigate around those buildings to get to those mutas harassing your mineral line. Warhound with less dps doesn't make a lick of diff cause you'll have MORE of them over the same space and for the same amount of resources.

Viper: (sorry in advance if someone mentioned this but I wrote this reply around page 180) Who the hell said it DOESN'T come out of lair? Someone said it is LAIR TECH but that only means you need a lair to build it. NOWHERE is it said it doesn't come from Spire, like (most) other flyers. What am I missing? I sure hope I am, but seriously, a unit this powerful that comes out of a lair with no building req is ridiculous. But if it comes out of spire Z are doomed to eternal DT rush hell like said before (and yeah, spores are nice, but you're going from "z have spores and overseers at lair" to "z have spores" which is downright counter to what Blizz is saying they wanna fix (early game scouting to prevent all the bloody cheese wins).

Edit: the obvious answer to the Viper thing is that it comes out of a new building that doesn't take as long as spire to build. D'oh.

The Nexus gun will be for any Light tier 1 or 1.5 rush (lings, Marines, Zealots, Reapers), and any Light mineral line harassment (Mutas, Banshees, Hellions etc.).

as a zerg, i am extremely happy, but still worried about detection. however, the other changes look awesome.


i actually play random, and as a zerg player, yeah the new units look good (minus i just really want my lurkers back)

but the terran units are the ugliest units ive ever seen. Also battle hellions? really youd rather have transformer then just putting firebats in the barracks?

protoss is worst of all...

you both admit to being zerg players, please try and think beyond that.

(also, i worry about detection too, but i guess vipers will just be essential now)
