I think this looks like an air unit, and I think protoss has a lot of options in the air, I think a newer ground unit that can fufill a better harass role (something like the reaver) is needed, though obviously you run the risk of making it too strong in conjunction with the colossus if it is kept through HotS, though maybe we'll have 2 from each race, one in the air, one on the ground.

Blizzard, once again catering to the fantasy WC3/WoW crowd by making Protoss sharp and zerg-like. Intrigued by the unit concept. The art design, once again, disappoints.

Hope this replaces the phoenix, the phoenix is so bad against air since almost everything is armored and mutas always produce faster. So really no use for them other then some kind of gimmicky harass openings. Perhaps a splash anti air unit like the corsair or a caster. It looks like it moves fast so I don't see how a caster could move fast and be balanced.

Its going to be a air harass. Blizzard said they want to give protoss a more viable harass unit and I think this is it. Its probably going to be very fast, quite beefy and able to fire ground and air.

To me it seems like it may replace the phoenix unit.

Looks to me like an air spellcaster, possibly a replacement for the Mothership.

The picture makes me think of a sentry like unit so at first I assumed some kind of dark sentry (aggresive spellls instead of defensive perhaps?)
That however doesn't seem to fit with what protoss would need so i'm just going to guess an air caster like everyone else.
