Well, given there's a unit which can make a Black Hole, a race designed around the ability to TELEPORT, an ability which makes an army of Marines for you instantly and an ability which mind controls other units - and there's the whole Terran race, I guess - I think a baneling launcher could work.

Which means the hydra has to be moved to tier 1 for this unit to be useful. Tier 2.5 would be way too late.
I rather doubt they would move the Hydra to a Tier 1 role again, there is a dynamic developed for Zerg to be lacking an anti-air unit prior to lair tech and it would be shocking for them to change that up. There is plenty of room with the current units at tier 1 and tier 2 to allow for a transitional unit at 2.5 if this is in fact a Hydra upgrade.

fair enough

I think baller's idea was taken. It's a hydraroach, but in a different way. The head~torso of a hydra, and the ass of a roach. :S
But I'm almost certain it's a ground siege unit. Zergs are really lacking in that department.

Zerg bunker unit, the shell comes down and it gets super armor, or you up the shell up and it smashes shit with that big ass claw

I see it now that you mention it! Well its a possibility... Hopefully they do a full reveal at blizzcon T_T

Better be some sort of lurker unit. I would be very glad.

Definitely going to be a ranged heavy unit. Something similar in role to tanks, but I don't think it will require a siege mode. Also I think it will be super slow off creep just like the hydra. As it won't need siege to fire, it will probably only get about 6-9 range. It will have a small splash, but mostly be heavy single target damage. Think 60 damage to a single unit. Also, when it burrows, it can use it's cannons, but the range is reduced.
That's my guess and hope.

Do not want.
Would be cool to see Zerg getting some kind of reaver and Toss doesn't.

beefed up version of the defiler

I certainly hope the Protoss unit will be something awesome.
This looks like the zerg version of the tank though.

Yeh, but the collossus is just a horrid a-move unit that is only effective in a blob. Hopefully it will get replaced, no idea what blizzard was thinking when they designed it.

The reaver was pretty similar in nature to a baneling launcher...fire a unit that does aoe dmg on impact, and it wasn't imbalanced. That said, I don't see baneling launcher for that reason...imagine giving reaver to zerg instead of protoss and the outcry that would follow :p
Actually, if you look at a number of units in bw individually they come across as incredibly OP, but the way things interracted worked out quite well.

A ground unit with siege range just isn't zergy in my opinion. (The Lurker only had 6. People call it a siege unit but it's more like a very positional melee unit. To attack with lurkers you had to move up pretty close and burrow, giving the defending player a chance to run away or focus fire them down.) explain why u think that? a sige range unit for zerg can be "zergy" easily depending on design. have u ever seen the movie starship troopers? i often compare zerg to "the bugs" in that movie. in that movie they had some kind of tank like beatle that could launch acidic blobs at extremly long ranges. if they make the siege unit for zerg a organic slow walking mobile unit then i can easily see it working.
I'm talking more about design than theme. This is less true in SC2, but Zerg in BW was about fast, disposable, in your face units that would overwhelm the opponent and push him back. That Zerg had no ground siege unit was an asymmetry that made for interesting gameplay.

Hmm I see it as a unit that will be ranged and if burrowed has more range. That's what I would like from what I see =P
