Quantic is undergoing a transformation within its StarCraft 2 division and the first major renovation comes in the addition of the Swedish Protoss powerhouse, Kim “SaSe” Hammar. After securing our initial team which now consists of Agh, Darkcell, iNkA, Shuffle, Theognis, and Zelniq, Quantic gaming has been improving from the inside out and we now feel that we landed this missing piece.
SaSe’s dedication to this game is transparent from the second you discuss StarCraft with him. His passion seeps through and makes him one of the most dedicated players on the entire planet which is why we believe he holds such a bright future. His work ethic combined with being in a Korean training environment is a recipe for success and we at Quantic are excited to have him on board. We will be doing all in our power to make this partnership mutually beneficial and will promise that SaSe will be showcasing his skills around the world very soon.
Here is a statement made earlier today from SaSe:
“After too long of a time without a team I have finally found one. Quantic approached me in a very professional way like no other team has ever done before. After days of meetings and discussions we finally agreed on a contract. I am so excited about this team and the best part is that I am just the first step of what is to come! I would like to thank Ben and Nicholas for spotting me. Also a huge thanks to Mark for being the coolest CEO I have spoken to when it comes to gaming! Quantic Gaming fighting!”

To be honest I can't believe it lol... Is this a big organization and they have tons of money or something? The players on their team are pretty good, but not on SaSe's level.
having seen QxG's players upclose. i must say SaSe seems to be on a different tier than most of them if not all. Amazing work by QxG's CEO, really unexpect, good luck tho~
I am also very suprised, but congratulations to SaSe nontheless!
I just hope that Quantic lets SaSe stay in Korea and sends him to major tournaments. SaSe not staying in Korea I think really would hurt his training.

Quantic started off as a console Battlefield team. Right now they sponsor Quantic Leverage and Quantic FeaR (Both 2 of the top 3 Call of Duty Black Ops teams on the MLG Pro Circuit, actually I do 2v2's with LvG's leader, Aches, a lot in SC2). I like this move to continually branch out to Starcraft 2 but from the level of players they currently have to Sase, doesn't seem like a wise move by him.
Love to know what Quantic is giving him specifically for him to join their team, since they are mostly console based.
I didn't even know this team existed. Just hope he gets the practice he needs and is able to live up to his amazing potential. Best of luck on your new team Sase!

wow i think nobody saw that coming, but it's great to see a "non-established" team at the very top stepping it up and acquiring such a great player. also i simply love SaSe, he's the best Protoss in the foreigner scene imo.
i was also very surprised by inka's comeback and was very surprised that he could catch up that fast. loved his NASL games so far.
Wow, this is unexpected! Great pickup from Quantic! I wonder what team house he will be staying in. No way in hell is he staying in the Gom house I think.Good luck and all the best to you SaSe!
Btw, anyone what his new name will be? Edit: I guess QxGSaSe...
Can't say I expected this but whatever works, Huge pick up for Quantic, Hope SaSe is staying in Korea.

How? He probably signed a very nice contract which gives him salary + sponsors flights to whatever international tournaments he wants to go to. Only thing lacking is high quality practice partners within the team, but if he will stay in Korea I'm sure he has plenty partners there.
I think he will be staying in Korea. Sase seemed pretty set on going to Korea and staying until he was as good as he could be. I doubt he would join a team that wouldn't facilitate that goal.

The main thing SaSe needs is a place to stay other than the GOM house.

Both of their CoD teams get their flights and hotel paid for when they travel to MLG events.

Congrats on quantic, nice to see "new teams" invest sc2 seriously (i know they had an sc2 quad before but I think that Sase is way better than any of their current players). I hope they'll make a deal to have him practice in a korean team though, i think that eventually ladder won't be enough for his practice.
Thanks for some of the lovers and also you haters for all of you with questions we are doing our weekly podcast at twitch.tv/axeltoss that is currently starting now and we will be answering questions from the chat and addressing the specifics of Sase's deal
I had hoped it would be a team/deal such that he could play in a korean team house. Still a fan though, I hope he picked correctly, since I'm pretty sure TSL wanted him in and probably more as well.
I hope they manage to get him into one of the pro houses in Korea soon. I know he wants to stay there and he can't just play from the Gom house forever. I guess there is some part of this deal that we don't know about yet.

Grats to both parties and cant wait to watch more of your stuff, and to see what Quantic has in store for SC2.
would have loved to see him join a korean team. he has so much potential and i think his career would have blossomed better in a korean training house. not sure quantic is going to do it for him. hope all the best for him though. one of the few streams i watch regularly.

Keep your ears peeled. I will stand by my words! <3
The only way I think I wouldnt be disappointed by this if they set him up to reside in one of the top Korean houses. Even so, Im not too excited by this... And I love Sase.
None of the Korean teams have much cash to be spending on players, especially not Prime (they are selling clothes and can't afford to send MKP anywhere without outside help T_T) to get a player like SaSe.
EG are probably more than happy to sit on their current roster, same with Col. An argument could be made for Dignitas but I'm guessing they have someone else in the works to replace Nani. Mouz seem to be content on their current, amazing but European based line-up. Fnatic just picked up ToD.
QxG seem to have cash to spend and appear to be ambitious. My only worry is that they need to get SaSe into an actual Korean pro house ASAP, the GOM house is great and all but it is far from optimal as SaSe and Nani will attest. Hopefully the big plans QxG are talking about are a partnership with a Korean team
god, does that axeltoss stream belong to quantic? if yes, then I am feeling sorry for sase. not knowing who ryung is, oblivious of Thorzain's GSTL results and talking total crap about him... <.<
Jesus christ most of the responses here are all disappointment I don't know much about quantic but if sase joined he obviously got a good deal or something congratulations to him and all you haters need to just be happy for both lol.
I recognized the 'QxG' tag but not the name of the team. Kind of suprised though, I really thought Sase would join a Korean team. Good luck to him and the team!
On October 07 2011 07:37 Moralez wrote: aw wtf? never heard of Quantic before was hoping SaSe to join Prime or another korean team wtf
Korean teams have no money at all and SaSe stated that he cares about pay. So korean teams were not realistic from the beginning. Maybe Quantic will do a partnership with a korean team like CoL/MVP?
Good for SaSe, but I find it hard to call it a "team" when the members don`t practice with each other. If he is staying in korean and practicing in korea ladder, him being in Quantic only means he must wear a jersey when on camera, which may be a great marketing deal for both sides, but it is not really "joining a team" in the classic sense. Gl to both parties though!
On October 07 2011 07:48 Klonere wrote: I also think some people are seriously underestimating the lack of funds korean teams have.
Thats why I was hoping and guessing it would be FXO or MVP (with CoL.) But yes, I highly doubt that Prime or others would work.

Dont forget he barely knows anyone at IPL besides the super big names like Idra and whitera. I turned off the stream because it embarrassing.
Hell of a pick up for Quantic.. not sure why SaSe decided to join them when he is a high enough caliber player to join teams that are much more accomplished, but either way I wish him the best of luck!!
This is actually a great move by both parties, as QxG seems to be the most promising and enthusiastic up-and-coming team. I guess anyone would be disappointed when their favorite player doesn't get picked up by a Korean team, but at least now he's not stagnating like in MYM. QxG's lineup is very underrated and they seem to be a great organization, so...SaSe and QxG fighting!!
This makes Quantic sooo much better. Now they have two great up and coming Protoss players. I mean, we all know that Sase is good, but he hasn't had any big results that i can think of atm.
I'm kinda expecting this to not end very well. Its not uncommon for teams to try to sign a player beyond their capacity in hopes that they will be able to acquire more funding. Then they don't acquire more funding. Then things end badly.
I'm genuinely curious why SaSe decided not to go with a Korean team. You know it was within his capacity. If Terran/Major was able to get a gig with TSL, Sase could too. MarineKing has said that SaSe is the best foreigner. could he not make something happen with prime?
This whole thing really bugs me. I've been a big SaSe fan for a long time and I really wish a more prestigious team had become his home. I pray that at least a Korean pro-house will become his home to practice.. :/
Not what I was expecting but hey, good pickup for Quantic. SaSe also looks like a beautiful motherfucker in the OP.
I hope this turns out well and I wish the best to both SaSe and Quantic, though, I don't have a great feeling about this and I wonder if SaSe will regret signing with them instead of a Korean team. He has so much potential t.t .. prove me wrong Quantic!
Wow, this really surprises me. I honestly expected Sase to join a Korean team or else a top tier foreign team. No offense to QxG but I honestly feel that they are not on the top level (yet).
Kittensrcute, we will take your challenge! And Wroshe, you have every right to feel that way. And that is a challenge for us as a team. I feel that given enough time, we will prove to the community that we do belong near the top of competition. Much <3.
When I read over all the comments on this thread I see a legitimate community concern, and I see a challenge for QxG as a team. It will be our duty to prove to the community through our hard work, that we can put an end to the legitimate skepticism from the community. Nothing but love for the community and esports!
Quantic Gaming has always been a really professional team when it comes to recruiting players and talent. If you don't know more about them, it's because they have always been more focused on console / fps games.
I really like the management and also most of the players inside it.

I once again must stress the point that Korean teams are effectively on a complete shoestring budgets and can't afford to room+board and pay players, especially high profile foreigners like SaSe. SaSe wants to get paid; you can't blame him for it at all.
I'm pretty sure QxG will get a partnership coL style, the CEO mentioned looking into one during an interview with ESFI.

We dont know more about them because they have no sponsors, are extremely new to the scene, have a half working, dead website, and only have B class American players (and a random Australian) besides Sase. Agreed, QxG is a fps/console sponsor and not a sc2 sponsor.
They basically got involved in sc2 when MLG picked it up.
They have still much to learn about sc2 background and should not sponsor pro players like Sase.

You obviously have no clue what ur talking about guy. Agh, Darkcell, Inka.....all A class americans. Agh has had multiple championship bracket mlg appearances. He even qualified for Iesf and is in korea right now. Darkcell nearly qualified for the championship bracket twice and has played in several FXO invitationals (performing well might i add). Inka also was a hair away from making championship brackets in mlg competing with the best. Perhaps you should do your god damn research before you spew a bunch of bullshit all over someone's thread. You talk about QxG not being sponsored. They are spending money consistantly sending players to MLG's not to mention they just picked up SaSe. Quit spewing shit out of your mouth when you don't know shit about it and take that attitude somewhere else please.

No. A class Americans are Idra, Sheth, QXC, and in terms of residence, HuK. Agh, Darckell and Inka have barely any accomplishments compared to the players I listed. Sure they compete in local tournaments and go to MLGs but they arent world class, A players. And if I recall correctly, those were last seasons MLG with AGH, where painuser also did well. No Koreans and a lot smaller player pool. And no, QxG has no sponsors, their owner is wealthy and pays for everybody so far. And yes, thats why Im concerned about them picking up sase, for the reasons I listed above. Next time you address me, please use at least BASIC etiquette and actual facts.
From how it looks like right now it seems not the best move for sase training-partner wise but obviously we don't know the whole story or how it will turn out yet Really excited to see how this evolves.
First of all A-class and World class aren't the same thing. Second of all please do all your research about the players before listing incorrect statements. (Yes this means you need to actually go through the interwebz and read through text and what not)
You talk about actual facts without doing research. nice
I think its great that your concerned for SaSe, but i wouldn't worry because because business is business when it comes to money whether it comes to sponsors or if its out of pocket. Players are still getting taken care whether or not there is a sponsor.
And next time you reply, atleast use actual facts

Congrats on Sase finally getting a team. Considering his caliber I would have thought a higher profile team would have picked him up but hopefully it's because Quantic gave him an offer he couldn't refuse rather than lack of interest from foreign teams.
interesting that QxG is willing to pay for players out of pocket. It can be a really good thing or really bad. Good because they dont live month to month on whether or not a sponsor decides they will pay for their travel. A bad thing because theres only so much money someone has until they decide enough is enough and stops supporting the team they put so much into.
A team that is paid out of pocket essentially decides how long the team will survive because I don't know any successful teams running today that still pay out of pocket. Its just a big investment in hopes of getting big sponsors one day.
Hopefully this step was a good one to get QxG some support financially the roster deserves.

Probably not just MLGs. There are other foreign events he probably wants to attend along with GSL. However, next year MLG should be a lot more attractive with it's supposed prize pool increase.

You come into a thread without full knowledge of the players claiming these are B-class players. I then go over most(not all) the progress of these players within last year(including this season's MLGs). You have the audacity to tell me to use facts when you haven't even done your research behind these players. You wonder why you get insulted? Post with some intelligence pal. What... -_- Sase could have joined an amazing team, but he chose QxG? why did he do that, they are as good as IS or NMx, he could have been on a big time team! I'm not flaming him or anything i'm just really confused why a player of his stature, being #1 foreigner would choose a B level team.

If you have a stacked roster of 5 allstar players, then you need to be able to pay 5 allstar players, which in the end makes everyones salary a little bit lower. However, if you have only 1 allstar player, you can pay him as much as he wants. The fact that 80% of the people in this thread dont know/understand that is very very painful

Yeah, I hope this team doesn't go the way of Lazarus Gaming.
exactly. since they are essentially using the same business model, a "rich" owner willing to pay for everything (for now).

I think its great that your concerned for SaSe, but i wouldn't worry because because business is business when it comes to money whether it comes to sponsors or if its out of pocket. Players are still getting taken care whether or not there is a sponsor.

For all the people who dont know Quanatic Gaming they are sponsors of really popular Battlefield and CoD teams. Just in July they decided to have a Starcraft 2 team as well. They picked up Inka and Agh, and others, who are retivley unknown. Quanatic Gaming is a new team and like other new teams (Acer and Type II) are looking for a star to start them up. Thats why they recruited Sase, also that is why Sase says he is going to bring the team's first steps. This is going to go two ways. Either Sase brings the team up, the team's players get better, new players get Recruited, and the team becomes a new NA power house. OR this could end really badly and everyone loses in the end including Sase. Sase would then end up where he started

As much as you want to prove us wrong, it's nigh on impossible unless the caliber of teammates SaSe practices with are at or above his level (e.g. korean house practice). The rest of the teammates can't become that level unless they come to korea as well, so QxG had better be prepared for that.

Yea i know that but that's not coming from within the team. And when those koreans are preparing for their code S matches sase will not get much practice time with them. Basically right now, he plays in the GOM house where has has to play really weird hours because of the ruckus the casters make. So he's not getting as much facetime as he would with korean progamers that he could watch and go over strategies with, unless he gets invited to go to a korean house for practice. But as a spectator I don't know the whole situation and so I hope for something like that to happen
Think it's pretty insulting of SaSe's intelligence to those who make out like what he is doing is a mistake. For one we have no ideas about the terms he has agreed, and we know for a fact that a lot of teams were interested in acquiring his services, so it's not as if he was lacking in choices.
Maybe trust his judgement regarding what team he allows to pick him up?

i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think sase having a weird sleep schedule is due to them being annoying but because he just feels like sleeping whenever it suits him. i also don't understand the hate on qxg from so many in this thread, people should at least wait fom their announcement that they said would make the sase signing seem minor in comparison. i do however agree that a korean team probably would have been the best choice for him to speed up his progression even more, and there's more to it than we know.
Great to hear SaSe has a team again, definately one of my favourite protoss, I hope he is getting paid well and that he can continue to stay in Korea, it's great that they're sending him to MLG. I know he hasn't really produced results in any main tournaments but anyone that has watched his stream knows that he will have some success very soon, without a doubt.

As someone from QxG's StarCraft divison, let me help clarify some of your concerns.
You're correct in saying that Quantic comes from a largely FPS background. It's a bit of an unfair assumption to say that Quantic got involved in SC2 merely because it was a popular new game on the circuit, though. Our vision has always been much broader than that.
Point is, there are a lot of very SC2 scene-savvy people (like myself) working behind the scenes at Quantic. You are right in saying that QxG is very new to SC2, and as such you should reserve your judgement. Everything is in good hands, and hopefully we can continue to prove that to you over the coming weeks.Saying that we "seem suspicious" seems a bit unfair.

It has seemed to me that a lot of these teams (LG, SixJax) who fit the description I said above about the sponsors or pr (website) usually fall prey to disbanding sooner than later. I wont make any rash judgments for now, but from experience thats what tends to happen. I hope that you guys can pick up other players, get a good practice environment, sponsors and get a solid team going. Good luck with the SC2 division.

As someone who works to improve Quantic's PR and marketing, I take full and personal responsibility for the current state of the website. Rest assured that we identified the website (and more widely, our image as a whole) as a weak point quite some time ago, and we're well on our way to replacing it with something much more fitting and representative of what Quantic truly is all about.
Wow. As many others, didn't expect this. Regardless of the financial details, I think Quantic just made an excellent deal if they are intending to expand their SC2 presence. Judging from this thread, a lot of people (including me) who previously did not know about the team, now do. In fact, now I want Quantic to do well
The only thing that concerns me is the practice environment. I can assume that SaSe now has a decent salary, which he deserves, and we will now be able to see him in big foreign tournaments, which is awesome. But will he be able to stay and practice in Korea?

SaSe has chosen to remain in Korea to practice, and his decision has our full support.
You can, however, expect to see SaSe at many different international events throughout the coming months.
great to see sase find a team that suits his needs! Hopefully this proves to be a mutually beneficial partnership between both and sase and quantic. goodluck!
grats to both, i hope SaSe get's to stay in Korea then ? I think long term Korea would not only do him wel but also his new team Quantic, looking forward to future results !
Good for SaSe finding a new team and great for Quantic!! To say the least though I am a little disappointed as I saw him joining a Korean team maybe even Prime. We because of how much praise MKP had for him
I bet this wont hold on for too long. My guess is 1 or 2 month. Seriously a player with SaSe's caliber should join some korean team or some major foreign team (EG, coL, mouz, Liquid, dignitas or fnatic).
Sorry for being that "pessimistic", but the history of small teams tells the truth.
Think of this. SaSe definitely has gotten offers from many high level and well-established teams. It is obvious that Quantic Gaming offered the best offer to SaSe (more money) as SaSe is a star player that would bring tons of attention and advertising exposure to Quantic.
He doesn't need a korean team to practise with nor to be in a team house, he can just train on ladder and with his korean friends over bnet. That said, how could this not be a good deal for SaSe?
He is a smart guy and obviously has made the right decision in this case.

Oh there is no doubt Quantic Gaming offered SaSe the best offer(I'd assume)... People are questioning how good Quantic Gaming can hold on their end though. They're a small team, with decent players, but none that make you think twice. People are suspicious how they managed to snag such a big named foreign player with little name to themselves.
You can't train on ladder at a high level. There's a reason there are team houses for all the top established teams. It's because that is how people improve the most. The houses contain people of similar caliber where you can bounce ideas/find problems much easier.

I hope the best for every person and he's no exception. If he can live in a top Korean house and practice with them, that's great.
It's just a lot of speculation as to Quantic Gaming and what will happen with him. People are surprised he didn't move to a more established team that has a very solid roster, etc. I am as well, but I hope this turns out great for him.
never heard of this team, but as alsong as they want Sase to stay in Korea training and they will pay for him to go to LANS etc then this is a step int he right direction for both team and player!!!

SaSe was teamless for quite some time now. He had a lot of time to think about his decisions. IMHO he did 100% right. He stayed in Korea all the time, not even with a team.. he has a plan. i mean ppl with big teams dont want to go to korea, he just did it on his own.
Then he just waited for offers.. and trained. I mean ofc he got offers from korean team. they are also intresed to hire top lvl foreigners for publicity. For simple training purposes, that could have been the best for Sase. But ppl forget way too often that theres a soul behind every player. Ppl have different characters, there ppl who need more time for themselves etc etc. You simply wont get that in a Korean team house. Theres a reson why TLO, Ret, etc. always say that "theoretically" they would go back to korea, but under different circumstances.
SaSe is my biggest hope for the foreigners atm. (with demu), and the last thing i want is that he gets sick of playing in a korean teamhouse. So i think staying now i korea on his own for now, but having a team that support some travels is the best thing he could get. that how i had done it doo.
Pretty odd. Sase is leaps and bounds ahead of the other players in the team. Hopefully it means he will be sent to events but I am a bit perplexed as I don't see how this resolves Sases practice situation in Korea.
He has said he wouldn't join any foreign team even if they gave him millions, if it ment he had to leave Korea. So I assume he will stay there, but the GOM-house is the worst possibly place to practice Starcraft.
As many before me have said, I diddnt see that one coming! I hope this team makes a name for themselves in the future.
Its AWSOME that they will send Sase to orlando. Makes me really really happpy and makes up a little bit for the fact that Naniwa is going to be absent.
On October 07 2011 18:50 Paladia wrote: . So I assume he will stay there, but the GOM-house is the worst possibly place to practice Starcraft.
Why is that?
It's been stated in several interviews by Naniwa, see for example
You basically sit in a corridor with your computer, and people are running around behind you at all times, talking, screaming, making noise, running into you etc. There is no peace and quiet and you cannot relax and just focus on the game. Not to mention that you get no practice partners (Sase only plays ladder).

Quantic could sponsor his stay in a Korean teamhouse.
i can only see this truly benefiting SaSe if they fly him to foreign tournaments and find him a KR teamhouse to stay in/practice with. Gom House is not a long term solution

I doubt that, theres only a few people there.
He didn't say It was bad, but its basically the same as sitting at your house practicing. Theres no benefit from It. No pro's around you, no schedule or hours you have to put in per day.. etc.
why are people so stupid in this thread? Read the announcment and if you don't understand, don't post stupid things... I'm very happy for SaSe and this is gonna be really interesting SaSe fighting!

He has said on his streamchat he doesn't really like the GOM-house as a practice environment. Probably for the reasons listed here.

Both naniwa and sase can attest to that the code a casters also living in the gomhouse makes it a bad practice enviroment. Sase've said so multiple times on stream and nani in the interview conducted by drewbie.
Ok, so this decision has to be all about money/sponsoring... that or Quantic has planned some major moves in the near future, I fail to see what SaSe can learn from sharing ideas/practicing with these guys.
i suspected that it was going to be a foreign team, but one more established in SC2. I suppose they will be suitable as long as they allow him to stay and train in Korea while sponsoring him to travel to big events such as MLG. Sase is really improving in Korea and I think it is best that he stays there for a while longer.

Sase is the king of staying where he needs to stay to get better
Most people seems to overlook this quote from Sase: " I am so excited about this team and the best part is that I am just the first step of what is to come!"
There are probably more news to come related to this team.
I hope that they have a plan for Sase to stay with some of the Korean teams for quite some time!

This is what he needs the most imo. Grinding the ladder can only get you so far. To get into a good teamhouse and grind customs with equally or more skilled players is where you really can polish your gameplay.

He can grind custom games even if he's not in a pro house. It's not like he can communicate well enough in Korean to really take advantage of being there in person anyway (that he can't do in chat). Who knows who he is practising against when he's not streaming.

he also has several korean pros who respect him a lot (MKP, Byun to name two) and would probably train with him. being on a team does not restrict you to practicing with other teams.
I must say that Im disappointed, no disrespect but Quantic isn't top team, not even top in us region, but I guess if they sponsor him well, and they will let him stay in Korea and attend most important US/EU events then I think its fine at least for now.
Imo SaSe will finish in top 8 at MLG Orland, unless he will face Korean Terran on the way to top 8.
It's kind of a tricky situation, Korean teams don't have THAT high of a salary rather than the foreigner teams but the Korean teams do have better players so training with them would be beneficial. Imo, if Sase trains with the Korean teams but gets trips to tournaments and good salary by the foreigner team, he will be splendid.

I wonder why people hope he joins a Korean team when its quite clear that they cant offer foreigners who join them the chance to compete on tournaments in Europe and US without having SaSe cover the costs of it on his own.
If you can stay where you want for practice and can go to all the tournaments that you want to go, its not that bad of a deal really then.
Wow, do the major (Korean) teams not realise how damn good SaSe is? He's tearing up the KR ladder, and he's beat some pretty good players recently in tournament situations. I was 100% sure he was joining either a Korean team or TL/FXO/CoL who have practice houses in Korea.
Huge congrats to Quantic though, great catch! This will certainly help them become a more established team.
Not sure if posted in this thread. From Sase's fanclub thread:

Second I would like to point out I haven't been in a team for 2½ months. I have though been approached by more than 10 serious teams and believe me, I have turned down alot of good offers because there was somethings that was just not right. I talked alot to Quantic before I signed and made sure everything was what I wanted. I am very picky with what I want and if I can't have it I don't see any reason signing, and no, salary is not the most important thing. I signed Thursday and in five days I am going to MLG Orlando, wouldn't have happen without a team and would probably not have happen in the other teams I talked to. So just wait a bit and see what happens, I am sure you all will be pleased!
Once again thank you all so very very much and see you in Orlando ^.^

As someone who works to improve Quantic's PR and marketing, I take full and personal responsibility for the current state of the website. Can you tell us a little more about Quantic then, and what they can do for Sase? Is it an American team? Are you getting a teamhouse? Is there a manager, or some sort of support system for Sase? Does he have a guaranteed contract where you pay him even if your team fails with your SC2 investment?
What are the short term and long term goals for Quantic in SC2? Who are your sponsors and, and are you sending more sc2 players to Korea this year?
seriously, whenever I look at SaSe, I can't help but think that he looks ridiculously alike to assange, even though they do not look that much alike if you put their images next to each other... somehow this is really vexing me...
It must be a good offer. I'd imagine that most of the top foreign teams have at least considered signing SaSe since he's been teamless.
Good for him, he deserves a good contract and getting one of the hardest working foreigners in the world should pay off for Quantic too. I'm also happy that we'll see him at Orlando too.
Good pickup for quantic for sure. Just kinda don't see how it would make sense given for sase as I'm not sure how much quantic can do for him in korea.

Wow, that's certainly a lot of questions!
Quantic Gaming is a largely American-based, multi-game team, with a small presence in Australia and Korea - the Korean presence being reinforced by SaSe joining the team. We've been around for some time now, and our Black Ops team, Quantic LeveragE, is one of the best Call of Duty teams in the world with two MLG victories this year. In terms of StarCraft 2 specifically, we have also been around for quite some time and our players have attended almost every MLG event this year. As you may know, iNkA has recently been invited to play in NASL Season 2, where he has posted some pretty impressive results so far.
Quantic also runs "Quantic Media", a gaming media production group with a strong YouTube presence.
The manager for our SC2 team is Ben "fograw" Shaver (the Ben SaSe refers to in his statement). His assistant manager is Bryan "YutZ" Guzman. Both have been part of the SC2 scene ever since it began, with Fograw being active since Beta and YutZ travelling to Korea for the first GSL Open Season.
I cannot comment on team or practice houses at this stage. SaSe will continue to reside in Korea, but will travel to as many foreign events as we can send him to. SaSe has explicitly stated - both publicly and to us - that he wants to remain in Korea to ensure that he gets the best possible practice. His intentions are admirable, and we see no reason to interfere with his personal goal to be the best.
I obviously cannot delve into any contractual details on a public forum I know that you're might be concerned about our longevity, but our business model is one that aims to achieve total sustainability.
This may sound cheesy, but at Quantic we believe that every player has a story. We plan on getting highly engaged with the community - in ways that have never been done so before - while at the same time, we strive to remain professional and driven in our approach. You might not know much about our current roster now, but that's something we'd love to change very soon.
With all due respect to the team and player(s) involved, I'm a bit disappointed by this. SaSes potential/dedication/skill is easily good enough to get into a powerhouse team. I hope he at least gets a solid payday out of this deal.
Meh i was kinda hoping he would get into a korean team and work with that especially since he plans to stay there so long, might aswell play with the best. but if he feels this is best for him then so be it good luck sase

Grats to Sase and QxG! Hope they do make more big moves soon. More high quality teams can only help the scene.

GLHF to both parties.
I don't really understand this point of view. If you want to see SaSe one day in a powerhouse team I think you should be happy about this.
Because if some of the offers were from them he didn't consider them good enough so it wouldn't have happened anyway and now that he's in a situation where he is able to travel to big events and assuming he performs well that should raise his value as a player and get him even better offers if he some day decides to join a bigger team

I totally echoed this one. Why doens't SaSe join a Korean team instead? He's really good and got lots of potential. Made me kind of sad to be honest. He really would've benefited from Korean training. Get him into NSHoSeo or something to learn from sage imo.

Korean teams, with the exception of Slayers (full lol), IM (got Fenix) and FXO (said they weren't going to sign him) have NO money. I've said it a few times in the thread but it bears repeating.

Korean teams doesn't have financial support unless it's a big team like SlayerS. Ofcourse Sase want to stay in Korea but he won't make money just by participating GSL so he needs a team that can provide him travel expenses for foreign tournaments like MLG.
Hmm, thought he could do better than this, hopefull this ends up like HuK on millenium, just temporary support untill some rich team sees how good he actually is.

I actually agree with this statement, QxG doesn't seem big enough to be able to hold onto Sase.
Sase is insanely underrated. im predicting him to be the highest finishing nonkorean at Orlando.
hope he doesn't have to run into MKP in the open bracket because that would be insanely sad.
I actually like this. Sase's on a small team where he's the main focus and i don't think team size matters much specially cause Sase's training in korea and is laddering so much.
On October 08 2011 05:18 Vapaach wrote: Sase to Orlando = almost guaranteed non-korean top 6.
Seriously. This guy is BEAST.
not sure about this. the koreans who should easily finish at the top are: july, puma, hero, MKP, MC, bomber. there's 6 right there not counting a few others who could do well such as hongun, rain, and boxer. pluss col mvp might send someone over or another team might decide to send someone.
its possible Sase makes it into top 6 but i wouldn't say it's almost guaranteed.
btw im a huge sase fan. im not bashing him just saying korea is sending some great players.

In what way will you improve Sases practice environment in Korea? As right now it is quite horrible.
He is in korea. He practices with koreans online. How is that horrible? It seems like the best environment to me...
Its been all over this thread. Too noisy and distracting, don't have designated practice partners, and no coaches.

Hopefully that clarifies a lot for you

You don't have to take my word for it, you can take his or Naniwas who have stated that it really sucks. As for what's wrong with it, read the thread. He likely has the worst practice conditions out of all pros in Korea, foreigners or Koreans alike.

byun, mkp and bomber has wanted customgame practice with sase and i'm sure he'll get more practicepartners. but ye, the gomhouse seems to suck with the casters being loud/annoying/turning off the ac which sase does not like

How? He probably signed a very nice contract which gives him salary + sponsors flights to whatever international tournaments he wants to go to. Only thing lacking is high quality practice partners within the team, but if he will stay in Korea I'm sure he has plenty partners there.
What players have you heard from Quantic? What players have they sent to any tournaments?

So QxGSaSe hwaiting!! #o#;;
We dont know more about them because they have no sponsors, are extremely new to the scene, have a half working, dead website, and only have B class American players (and a random Australian) besides Sase. On the stream post the host and the owner (cinergy) had NO idea what they were talking about and were lost on the most basic of SC2 scene knowledge. They seem suspicious if you ask me.
Are you kidding me? Your the guy with the attitude, the guy you quoted was 90% of tl's view on this. He was right with the stream host having no idea what he was talking about.
If you consider Agh, Darkcell and inka ALL A class americans there would be 50 other americans that are "A Class". The real A class americans are people like select, idra, sheth, etc etc. I personally have never heard of darkcell, have barely heard of Agh and haven't heard of inka since the beta.
I just looked at each person's liquipedia page: Agh's best performance was beating tyler in one mlg. darkcell isn't even on liquipedia and inka hasn't won anything since beta.
Definitely A-Class, right?
Of course, Quantic may have sent them to MLG. that is obviously good of quantic. However, they probably bundled them with all their fps players they had to send to - one or two extra players isn't alot.
Btw, I'd just like to re-instate that this is a great pickup by quantic, and by glancing at their website they are obviously trying to get involved in the sc2 scene more. Gratz!

they send players like iNkA and Agh to MLG
yeah yeah, i know you've never heard of them
If you haven't heard of inka or agh, you're likely new or clueless tbfh.
But as others have said, I am not sure if this is the right choice for SaSe. But it's his choice so if he's happy I won't really complain too much.

I'm not going to sit here and defend Quantic for days, because there were some damn good reasons why I left them in the first place, but Quantic definitely separated SC2 and CoD pretty distinctively. Each was treated separately and the two divisions never even mingle. I think I was the only one from the entire CoD portion that talked with anyone from the SC2 division (when I was still competing in CoD.) So to say that they "bundled them with the fps players"...no. They didn't.
The SC2 division is made up of a lot of solid players that dedicate so much into the game. But the difference between the guys in QxG's SC2 division and the players in EG and the like is that most of QxG's players still go to Uni/work their day jobs. I have a lot of respect for QxG's SC2 players in that light. So honestly, for practicing with that kind of limitation and still being able to tap into or close to Champ bracket, it's pretty respectable.

you apparently have never watched his stream. he finds koreans to play cg's with all the time. last i saw he played like 15 games with byun.
Quantic did pretty well in ESEA's season 9 SC2 league and made it pretty deep into playoffs. I can tell you for certain that their BF3 team for the pc will be one of the best.

Hopefully that clarifies a lot for you
Thanks for your reply.
I'm sure SaSe has plenty of people to practice with.
Maybe on ladder. He doesnt have people with him or teammates that he can go up to or ask for games.
you apparently have never watched his stream. he finds koreans to play cg's with all the time. last i saw he played like 15 games with byun.
Those weren't customs, they'd both search for matches at the same time.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't stream his actual practice custom games with his practice partners.
Anyway, Wolf mentioned that SaSe was one of the people Oz practiced against for his match against Sage. It seems that he should be able to find suitable practice partners. I also watched a game on his strea where he asked ZeNEXLife if he could add him as a friend because he needed Zerg practice partners.
Obviously it's far from the optimal of going to a dedicated pro gamer house with dedicated schedules, but I'm pretty sure it's better than starting up a team house in America.
i remember this guy from warcraft 3 days he hasn't changed 1 bit, congrats SaSe. he has been gaming longer than most n knows whats he doing, he has alot of experience to offer younger players n isn't short on fame or cash.

as i said a page back, byun, mkp and bomber have wanted custom practice with sase, so the reason he didn't stream a couple days back was because of that.

I hope so! SaSe is quite amazing at the moment and seems to have definitely reached the top echelon of foreigners. I have high expectations of him at MLG Orlando. Cannot wait!

I really like the management and also most of the players inside it.
I like Kim a lot too, he's a really good player, works really hard, and a great friend.
So QxGSaSe hwaiting!! #o#;;
Gratz!
Okay, I think you misunderstood me. I meant by "bundling it up with the fps players" as in they wouldn't mind sending SC2 players as well. On the other half of that point, It seems I'm wrong that they thought their SC2 team was inferior. They obviously do care
Anyway, On the going to Uni/work part I understand, but many "pro" players actually still go to uni/work who are very well recognised e.g. Polt, NaDa, etc etc
Also, I'd like to say again that I'm not hating on Quantic, this was originally a response to ReachTheSky. Great pickup Quantic!
Glad he has a team willing to send him to events, but I feel like Quantic is a whole level below Sase's skill. None of their players are even mid-level pros even by NA standards.
