The techniques used by Complexity to recruit Stephano were quite disorienting to influence our young player towards a bad decision. After a long discussion, Stephano understood his error and decided to definitely stay with Millenium for the next 12 months
Passive aggressive much? ...I'm sure we'll hear a rebuttal on this.
Lets not immediately demonize Complexity based on Mil's press release. Give them a chance to respond.

This half-assed contract signing in e-sports is getting pretty old pretty fast. Though I guess many players don't seem to respect their contracts in real sports either.
Also stop announcing announcements while at it !

He should've though of that before he signed it...I would be very disappointed if no penalty or SOMETHING happens as a result...otherwise what kind of fucking joke is even signing a contract when it's meaningless.
He should've but he didn't, or he was misguided and didn't think it through or read it through. It doesn't matter now.
If they really wanted the player, Complexity should have made sure all the terms were clear to him, that he's happy to join them and play for them, and that he has had enough time to really think about it instead of rushing to get a signature on paper.
If this is true and they try to force anything, it will backfire hard (as in beyond EG level of backfire).

I, for one, am excited to witness foreign Starcraft's first foray into the morass of international law

hopefully some more details will be fleshed out so i can make sense of what the hell is going on here

Well this is clearly a situation where coL went to Stephano directly and so Mill found out when stephano told them he was moving and disagreed with it. perhaps felt coL misinformed Stephano about what Mill is or is not capable of.

I just hope it works out the way Stephano wanted in the end. I hate the way Millenium handled this though, it took a contract from Complexity before they gave Stephano the contract that he deserves.

I second that.

J’ai déjà reçu des propositions d’équipes « de renommée internationale » que j’ai déclinées. Donc mon année à venir est chez Millenium je pense. Presque toutes les grandes équipes EU m’ont fait une demande.
"I already received offers from "world class" teams, which I declined. So the year to come is with Millenium I think. Nearly all big EU teams made an offer to me."
Even if it says EU teams, I was kinda startled this morning to see him leaving... I don't think coL have a contract signed with an adult legal warrant, they might, I know nothing about that, but this warrant (parents prolly) would have definitely told him the problem of suddenly breaching that contract....
Seems strange, I'll wait to see what comes out of it when everything is cleared..

They shouldn't force him to play, but if he really did the sign the contract, Millenium should be forced to buy out the contract to have Stephano on their team. I can't imagine Millenium buying out col's contract before making this announcement, because they wouldn't have worded their PR like this.
Usually, if two parties come to a mutual financial udnerstanding, you don't shit on the other party in the press release. :lol

For all you know, Stephano knew exactly what he was getting into, signed the contract, then forced Mill to offer twice the money, then broke contract to sign with them.
I'm not saying that that's what happened. But there's just as much evidence for either thing happening, outside of hearsay.

Every line of that press release fits with a French accent.

I guess he should join Fnatic . #_#
If coL/Mill can't agree, Fnatic is only option <3

One step closer before we start having actual trades involving players and contracts having no-trade clauses.
Can't wait until we something like Puma traded to TL for Ret, Sheth, Tyler and a box of Hot Bid's leftover sunglasses.

"We have been talking to Stephano for quite some time and today we are thrilled to announce he will be joining our family" It was not an early announcement. It was made after the contract was signed. We are speaking with Stefano at this time to figure this out.
Thanks for this, it needs to be shown throughout the thread. I'm sure a contract with an international minor player involves a lot of difficulties, but I would also assume that complexity knew what they were doing throughout the process.
In the same turn, I doubt millennium would release this update unless they covered their bases as well, which means we have a kid who signed 2 contracts and a huge legal mess.
It seems to me like 2 giant businesses aggressively recruited a susceptible kid who unsurprisingly has poor business sense. First complexity woos him without millennium's knowledge, then millennium steps in and guilts him into coming back, which, without knowing more facts, will be without legal effect.
I'll be very interested in the coming fallout, but I don't see how complexity doesn't either get paid a lot of money or have stephano play for them.
I'd also note that this differs heavily from the Destiny signing because in that case, complexity acquired an entire team at once. During the transition, an employee of the old company decided he didn't want to join the new company, which happens all the time. Furthermore, he didn't leave them for his old company or a new competitor, which means that even a breached contract wouldn't as much in damages to complexity as in this present situation. Here, a specific player alone was recruited and signed, and his old company, still in existence, is fighting to get him back. In legal and economic terms, the differences are stark.
