If Blizzard could fix this it would be perfect, but I'm sure they left it out for a reason. I'd love for an over-the-shoulder cam to be introduced, though, perhaps we could ask GOM if they think it's a good idea? it doesnt matter if u dont see the cursor, havent u see any replay with the player view? its the same but without cursor, u see what the do anyway. Of course I have, but it doesn't give us a very clear view of the players' actions, it only gives us a shaky camera view and their unit selections (if you look closely).

Wouldn't mind, would much prefer to get some over the shoulder viewing though.
Watching how different pros use their keyboard is something i find interesting.

How could you say no!
edit: seriously, how could you say no. You could have a preference on the angle or amount of time spent but its a win situation at the root.

I always wondered why GSL doesn't do this.

Although SC2 FPV is not as awesome as BW ones, count my vote in!

HSC3 had cameras over the players' shoulders which was pretty good, more of that please. Could be hard if the players are in booths tho

Yes that would be pretty sick to have that view. See what they are really doing.
|
totally would be down for it, but only used sparingly. I think it can be a good filler for the time not much is happening in the game.
|
Yeah, of course we wouldn't want to have it all the time, but during micro/multitask intensive fights it could be really interesting.
|
oh yes i thought you meant like FPV in game i was like no? But YES i love watching players expressions think of the Flash twitch!

Sorry to necro a thread but I'm STILL not seeing this in tournaments. Those FP switches of BW were LITERALLY the first thing that really drew me to the game. Especially as more and more non-players start entering the sc2 audience it is so vital that we communicate what exactly makes this game so amazing and how much skill it involves. I was completely shocked the first time I saw a cut to fp view in BW. If you don't play and are only used to the observer view you can literally have no idea what playing the game actually looks like, and seeing the extreme speed, accuracy and fluidity with which the progamers control their units and macro really illuminates just why we should respect players of this game in the same way as professional athletes.

I agree, first person view is pretty awesome to watch and it gives indication of how talented the players actually are, because you get to see them maneuver around and command their forces at high speeds. Once a game for each player for like 10 to 20 seconds would be sufficient in my mind. I still prefer the omniscient caster's view for almost the entirety of the cast, but it would be nice to pop into the player view once in a while.

I would love to see it, but i think they should use it sparingly, and not while big engagements are happening, it's not fair to only see a 200/200 PvT fight in the Protoss' perspective only.

Yes, facial expressions are so important to see in a match.
|
You basically mean just switching to their in game vision during a micro engagement? similar to how they switch to the players vision to see if they got a good scout or not? I guess its ok, you can't see the mouse though that's the thing
Or do you mean a camera like on the players computer screen? That would probably just look bad ascetically

Would be great to see FPV in tournament! I mean, it can be used to fill time in less-actionesque parts of the game, or right before / during harassment. I would love to see it just like it was done in BW!
|
Facial expression is good but sometimes the battle is just way too fast to be able to pan out to get a shot of both players expression like the slower paced BW... example 5 colossus deathball versus bio ball and viking... sometimes its over in 2-3 seconds flat so panning out to player facial reaction may make you miss out on the action. Same with baneling engagements, etc. Too fast paced to be able to pan out at times. It would work for TvT though...
First person view on the other hand could work out just fine and be pretty cool. I'm most interested in seeing the fpv of players like mma, etc. going into crazy multitask mode.
|
I think the general public has enough insight into player's minds. I don't want omniscience. I'd prefer to preserve some strategic privacy for the players. But I'm sure I'm in the minority.

I always loved the fps view BW tournies did, it was very cool and it would keep the game "intense" during peaceful times.
I would also second the motion of facial expressions.

No, Why would we want to watch First Person? That pretty stupid and here is why
Idk about you lower level players, but when you play @ a high level, even in Masters, players usually don't watch battles as they go down. Your constantly PLAYING the game, you don't have time to watch. Your constantly multitasking, and your screen is jumping from place to place extremely quickly, too fast for anyone who isnt of at least high skill level to fully grasp.
It's bad for esports. People who don't play SC2 already have enough trouble following, watching it on crack speed in FPS wont help.
