With every season i miss the old ICCUP map system... I hate playing maps that aren't used in any tourneys or competitively at all

Just because its old doesnt mean they should get rid of it. The maps have to be balanced not brand new, metalopolis was one of the most balanced ladder maps and is used in pretty much every tournament without close spawns. I hope blizzard gets a big backlash for this but unfortunately i fear people care more about more trivial matters than the ladder map pool .


They never said they were getting rid of it, they even said it has a strong chance of coming back in future ladder seasons. They want to try to rotate maps in and out of the pool to give variety. Meta, while a good map imo, has been around since the game came out. Also I'm not saying, or did say, that new maps = balanced I'm just saying that the more time you give a map to play on then the better data you can collect. What it comes down to is just a popularity contest really. If Blizzard told us that Delta was a balanced map around the board but they were still removing it I'm sure the reaction to it being gone wouldn't change. Blizzard tells people a popular map is imba so I'm not surprised people are mad.

If blizzard wants to make the ladder pool rush based maps why don't they just go back to a old tried and true tested map they had in the beta...

It’s among the least balanced maps currently in the ladder pool, and along with Scrap Station (also being removed) and Tal’darim Altar, has a heavy (60%+) bias toward zerg at the highest levels of play.


If Metalopolis makes a return to the ladder pool in the future, it will likely receive some balance tinkering, much like that administered to Lost Temple which resulted in the creation of Shattered Temple. In the meantime, we hope that you enjoy the fresh maps that have been added to the ladder pool in Season 3.


They should add this to the OP so people stop arguing meta is the most balanced map in the pool, and also realize GSL maps are not the best maps in the world. They have flaws just like blizz maps.
Tal'Darim was never balanced. And i don't think crossfire is even close to being balanced, it's one of the worst maps in the pro scene.

GSL Taldarim is pretty balanced, ladder Taldarim (used in tournaments (even MLG) for some unknown stupid reason) has been said to be protoss favored (from LSPRime, the guy who made it).

Old ICCUP system had good things but also quite a lot of flaws, for example it was rather hard to get to play new maps when there were old ones like Python and Longinus in the pool, noone wanted to play on them when they didn't have to and one of these old maps were almost always in the map of the week.

I find it sad that there is only 1 2-player map now. I think 2 was a good number to have.

As a Terran Metalopolis was a really hard map for me against Zerg, I am going to miss the ninja "Gold Float" in the beginning though ... was always a fun strat.

Kind of wish they had taken out Xel Naga; its a great map and one of their best efforts so far, but I've played hundreds of games on it at this point.

I dunno; I feel like the ladder should be a proving ground for new maps, and Xel Naga has been proven.

That's the most stupid logic i've ever heard in my life. Shattered temple shares the same problem as metalopolis what part of this do you not understand? Look i'm trying to be nice here, but it doesn't take a genius to understand this.


I really don't see how my logic is that far fetched and I really don't believe it's the most stupid logic you've ever heard in your life either. I think giving a map that has been around about 1/4 the time as meta more time in the pool to see if it keeps following what their data is telling them now much more of a reasonable answer than just throwing it out only after a few months of play.


Do not troll me, I'm really not in the mood. You know as well as i do, that before shattered temple was re visioned, It was the lost temple. Also you should know Lost temple was released as one of the first map in Day 1 beta. You also know blizzard's reasoning behind removing Metalopolis and if you have an IQ over 75, You will understand the same reason should apply to shattered temple.

So i say again, Do NOT troll me. I'm really not looking forward to playing shit season 3, on shit maps. I'm in a bad enough mood as it is.

I think this maps for season 3 are insult to the community that supports SC2 and are complete joke. Good luck to all you zergs who try to play on this maps or any other kind of macro players who think they can get a fast 3rd absolute shit maps. Many position imbalances,alot of imba bunker placements,good luck stoping 7gate+robo blink stalkers on this maps and tank,thor drops.

Why in the world are they taking out Metalopolis. I was so happy when I read the first 3 maps and once I saw Metalopolis in there I thought Blizzard has to be trolling me.

RIP Metalopolis, you had a good run.
To be honest, bar that map, they took out almost the really awful maps. We'll have to see how good the new ones are. A damn shame that they never even appeared to consider the GSL maps. Something like Dual Sight would be really awesome.

If you're terran and you learn how to use siege tanks they are the best maps in the world.
