I would hope that Blizzard would simply allow Private games to increase the popularity, just like Public games do! Fix this, Blizzard!

But until this gets fixed, I will do this

so if i dont wanna play with scrubs for lets say Star Strikers when i have my full 5v5 lobby full of friends i invited i can just hit open to public and then hit start game and it will increase the popularity?

I go into the less played maps. It seems like there a reason there far down there. If you map is good it will move up.

The whole point of the public games list is to show games that I can join, if everyone is playing it privately then it shouldn't appear high on this list, that would just be deceiving to the player by making him think there are games he can join.

Yep but if you want to support the mapmakers (which you should do as a thanks to them) then press open to public and start right away... it's not hard to start before pubbies join.
