To support the map? By opening to public, it's like a "thumbs up!" You're making the map more popular, which incentivates the map maker to keep updating the map and publishing new ones.

What risk? If you set a map to 1v1 and there are two people, making it public won't suddenly allow people to join.

God, that's the way it works? That's awful, so basically no custom map you play with friends increases this map's popularity? And that's why essentially the only melee maps you always find an opponent in a reasonable amount of time are XNC, Meta, and ST?
I'll try to remember to always open to public from now on... except for Blizz maps, of course.

Hang on a minute..
If I'm trying to join a game through the public games list, yet nobody is truly playing public games, then I'm not going to have much luck am I?
The whole point of the public games list is to show games that I can join, if everyone is playing it privately then it shouldn't appear high on this list, that would just be deceiving to the player by making him think there are games he can join.

holy crap thats terrible.
I am one of those sad to see Smashcraft at so low of a pop rating.
|
Just another addition to why battlenet 2.0 sucks.
|
crazy. Never knew that. Will host public games now
|
This might explain Raynor's Party from dying ):
|
People aren't reading the OP. They're just reading "open game to public" and posting saying why would I want random scrubs to join.
I wish people would learn to read. I mean it's 2011 for god sakes.

this is quite a good thread, lets keep it going!

Nice to know, will do in the future.

So spread the word people! If you like the map, make it public when you host.
|
Interesting, will do

blizz should fix this. would help the mapmakers out.
|
I wouldn't be surprised if blizz had planned it that way -.-
|
that's really enlightening. Good to know, hopefully we'll start seeing customs other than xel naga. I think for the average competitive player maybe they can actually start finding pub games on the tourny maps.
|
hazaa, i feel silly now, seems like a good way to promote some good maps, maybe blizz could see that people dont want to play xel nag anymore lol
|
Oh, okay. I guess. Seems like Blizzard should just fix this shit.
|
I was unaware of this, I'll try my best to make my custom's public in future
Gl to making new maps, you guys are doing great.

You just click public and start immediately. You still play with only your friends but the play time counts towards the popularity.
