When asked, he said he thinks Brood War could definitely have lasted 5 more years.
That's definitely not what he said dude
He did say that, but to a question I don't think the original question was addressing. He said that he believes he will do his mandatory Korean military service in around 5 years, and that he'll be in top form for those years as well. He's not sure what he'll do after his military service because he hasn't planned that far ahead because he's still young.

He was just saying that he's not working as hard as he did back then and it explains his results now compared to the past. That part was a little hard to convey, so I apologize if it wasn't clear. (I did the translation)
I haven't done translations on a live stream show like this before, so I did get nervous and it definitely wasn't perfect. Makes me give more respect to those who do this regularly as I'm also guilty of nit-picking Junkka during early GSL's, so I'll just take any criticism respectfully.
Oh, and Time Warner decided to drop my internet right as Flash started talking Imagine the panic.
It was a pleasure to watch the interview and a lot of it is due to how good the translation was. Thanks!

Did you even follow the show?
Did you? He was talking about how long he thinks he will play until his army duty.
That was one of the "5 years" issues being mentioned, but they also asked him how long he thought Brood War could have continued if not for the forced switch (After he had already said he would have liked to continue playing Brood War until the end, if possible) and he said 5 years. Artosis even made a remark after that, that being a Kespa-insider FlaSh's estimate is probably more accurate than any speculation we've done...
Would have preferred some less political answers, especially on the bo1 format. However, flash has been trained well as to not rock the boat, so I guess I can't blame him. Just wish I saw more of his true personality.

He recogniced he likes Bo3 better, but recognices it is good to keep things fresh with different formats and maps.

He said he *thinks* it would have lasted 5 more years, not "definitely". He has no way of definitely knowing how long it would have lasted.
You're right, it's not like he was paid to play the game for 5 years and knew the Korean scene far better than any of us here... oh wait.

There are several reputable high-named economists that have opposite predictions of what the future holds, sometimes neither of them are right. What's your point? Also, your response has almost nothing to do with what I said.
Either way, I'm not saying he's wrong, I'm saying your quote is wrong. He didn't say it "definitely" would last 5 years, that was his guess opinion.

I don't know if it would have been a good decision for Proleague and OGN. Although the they could have gone on, the game might have been in decline the entire time. There is a good debate to be had that it is better to have the game that is on the rise, rather than wait until the one you are playing completely fades.

Hmm, whenever I watch flash I feel like he is a real professional - both inside and outside of the game, and I like that about him. I feel like he's the kind of guy I can get behind when there is someone I need to root for. And I would like to remark that he's still more outspoken about topics than some of the other progamers out there, but we don't get that many interviews with him, unlike some of the progamers that frequent foreign tournaments. Not everyone can have a raging personality like MC huh?
