Do you really think that someone who speaks without understanding, and who has no desire to represent the community which supports him, would ever honor a contract that he signed ?
I hope all the pro teams out there are taking notice of this.

e: and this is coming from someone who isn't a particular fan of destiny- dont like the guy I really don't understand what more we should have said or how it can be deemed unprofessional? Destiny himself said he signed the contract, knew what he was signing and then broke the contract which is and I quote Destiny "A Douche Move". This was not all about what he says or doesn't say on the stream. He did not want to be part of Complexity. We could have chosen to be dicks about it and hold him to the contract he signed and not let him play for anyone. He did not want to wear the tag, did not want to honor our sponsors and all of these things stem from him not wanting to be a part of a larger organization. We talked to him at length and at the end of the day I don't understand his reasons. We knew what we were getting when we signed him and really we were for the most part fine with who he is and what he does on his stream. Obviously we could not have racial comments etc but at the end of the day this was HIS decision and we allowed him to make his own choice and he CHOSE to leave. So even though the title of our release is we "released" him that simply means we allowed him out of his legally binding contract, which we certainly did not have to do. I don't think anyone is the bad guy here. This is not a decision that had animosity on either side. We don't want a player that does not want to be part of us and he did not want to be part of us. So end of the day, I am not sure how we could have handled this better. We wish Destiny nothing but the best.
Once again, I'm getting seriously mixed messages here in some regards. The clan tag thing was for fairly obvious reasons, he had already used his name change but he should have just made a separate coL account, so that was stupid of him, the "honor our sponsors" thing is pretty ambiguous and I have no idea what it means and then additionally one of your Staff members claims he "refused to play" for your team? The last part in particular is a pretty serious offense.
Now, I'm wondering if this was just an issue with the content of his stream and his slurs, or was he genuinely dicking around the clan and refusing to play? Because if it's the former, and people on Complexity are implying the latter, that's slanderous.

I honestly had no idea who the heck this guy was until I saw this thread and then visited his fan page out of curiousity. He's got a lot of highlight videos on youtube as well. I watched quite a few of them.
It seems Destiny gets his viewership by being graphically vulgar and exaggerated about everything he does (overlords being retard magnets, using banelings as an anal probe and roaches as a rape instrument, etc.). And he yells a lot. Why is anyone surprised he's popular? Don't fool yourself into thinking our demographic is really that much better than any other online jackassery out there. The internet attracts a cesspool of human filth. I even chuckled at some of his antics myself because I'm so desensitized to it all. Being edgy and vulgar is the norm now. I laugh at the whole freedom of speech and expression schtick. There's plenty of words in the English language this Destiny guy will never use because they're not "bad" or "controversial" enough. Don't give me this "restricting language is stupid" crap. It's just a tool to gain an audience. He goes out of his way to curse randomly or make an analogy that's not even somewhat accurate because he's trying to be Howard Stern or George Carlin (who are better at it). In some of his "normal" videos, he acts completely different. It's a character he projects because he knows the bm fans will eat it up.
Look at this ridiculous page count. We're in the 40s because a semi-pro left a team where he was probably the worst player. Good players have trouble getting this press. To be clear, I'm not mad at Destiny for any of this. He's making a good living off his stream and more power to him. I didn't know about it before and I don't care to follow it now.
I'm just sad at the realization of exactly how representative Destiny is of our demographic. He got an interview with Forbes? Really? This is the state of Esports in the US. Face it guys. Outsiders will always think of it as some kid shit with pimply faced nerds talking like they hard and trying to be cool. You want money to flow into this scene? You better start appealing to the 25+ demographic that actually makes bank. Chess is a lot less exciting but has gotten televised in the states due to the strength of the community. Esports is a series of bubbles as long as the current situation persists (at least in the West). Enjoy it while it lasts.

Well, this has turned into quite the sopoper. Days of our lives destiny addition. Look, these things happen. It's part of life. Sometimes there is miscommunications, second thoughts, lost in translation moments, etc.
I think complexity handled it well and was extremely generous as they had a binding “legal” contract and they could have held Destiny’s feet to the fire and if he decided to break that contract it could have easily resulted in a lawsuit, and I hate to say this, but no one wins in a lawsuit. Have you ever heard of a friendly lawsuit? No…because they don’t exist. So complexity did an amazing thing by releasing him of his contract when they clearly didn’t have to.
Destiny could have handled the initial signing of the contract slightly better than he did, but at the same time you can fault the guy, because he clearly admitted that he did the wrong thing. Anyone that admits publicly that he screwed up in my opinion is stand up move. So good on Destiny.
All the rest of the stuff in between doesn’t even matter at this point. What happen happened. Complexity did the right thing and Destiny did the right thing. I don’t think Complexity or Destiny has to entertain any of these comments in this thread and even more than that, hurts their image, because all it does is fuel the fire, which in turn spreads misconceptions, rumors, and results in Complexity and Destiny both looking worse than they really do.
If it were me, I would leave the announcement, but close this thread and be done with it.

Howard Stern (and George Carlin before he croaked) is even older. It's the demographic he appeals to: kids and kids in adult bodies.
Though let me be careful here. I think George Carlin actually made good, thoughtful points in between his planned swearing sessions. But he was a professional comedian. They prepare their fucks and damns in good context. Usually....

Last post on the topic and then I will let you all continue. There is no mixed message. Issues are complicated and there are many facets to things. The simplest form was he did not want to be part of a big organization as he said. Why? I am not sure, maybe because we said he could not be racist but that was the only part of what he does we were going to "censor". We stated our reasons for releasing him from his contract or politely put allowing him out of that contract and primarily it is because he did not want to be part of us. We did not kick him off the team as so many of you all imply. He wanted to go and we let him. Release is simply used to state he was Released from the contract he signed.

coL needed him more than he needs them. low tiered team? are you forgetting coL has CatZ, Drewbie, CruncheR and minigun? any tournament they enter they are considered favorites by most people if not top 3. think before you speak.
They weren't favourites in MLG, NASL and wouldn't have been at Dreamhack, either...
They're maybe the favourites when better players don't turn up?
Don't mean to bash, but Col is really not a heavyweight team right now, not with EG and Team Liquid around (even with T. Liquid's recent slump).

To be totally honest the part I bolded is a little surprising. I mean just knowing essentially what his basic ideals are it's pretty obvious either you'd be 100% totally fine with who he is, or if you signed him there would be trouble. He's pretty clearly stated on numerous platforms he feels no need to ever censor himself.
That's not to say I don't still think it's 100% his fault for signing a contract he wouldn't follow through on. Just a little surprised you guys offered him up a contract when you really were not totally fine with his behavior. Granted of course with a business deal sometimes your hope is that money is a motivating factor enough to promote change.

Everyone that puts Destiny on a pedestal is so blind. He constantly makes racist jokes and makes fun of black people on top of all of his other completely ignorant rants he habitually goes on.
I challenge any of his fans to take a look at him and objectively evaluate his character. He is an uneducated college dropout with an illegitimate child; moreover, he is a MUSIC MAJOR dropout. That makes him the equivalent of the demographic that he constantly berates (at the most) and uses racial epithets towards... assuming that you want to apply stereotypes like Destiny does.
The only reason that anyone would be a fan of this ignorant hate monger is because they appreciate him for voicing their own closeted bigotry.
Any team that would sign this embarrassment to the community is a disgrace. Good job on Complexity's part for putting a footprint on his ignorant hind quarters.
Maybe this will have a positive affect on him and he will start actually raising his child.
Personally, I find it hilarious that some people view him as a martyr for his own personal beliefs... no matter how misguided and unenlightened they may be. Any rational human being would discern his behavior as stubborn and immature.
He openly admits to signing a contract under false pretenses and yet, somehow, people still support him. I wish I was alive centuries ago where a person's word and signature actually meant something. You mean the same time where you would have to say this to his face, and not hide behind the anonymity of an internet forum. I wish i was alive whenever people stop making baseless assumptions about someone's character and their beliefs off of petty details such as word choice. I would gladly announce my assessment of his lack of character in public. Oh wait, I think that is what I just did ? Good job on posting another meaningful, intelligent post to the team liquid community, though. You do not look like a mindless fan boy at all. What a pitiful attempt at derailment. We should chat on stream sometime, bro, you sound like an intelligent figure. I'm trying super super hard not to respond to some people in this thread, but posters like the aforementioned really make me wish it'd get locked so I don't get perm-banned from these forums. :[
Bottom line is you should have just asked for your release from ROOT then signing the contract wouldn't have mattered.
That being said.
I love how you put yourself out there, tell it how it is and manage your own image/stream etc. I wouldn't want that to change. So w/e you do, keep doing you and don't change it, unless YOU want to.

No one is going to sign Destiny now. It was unprofessional and he made his friends look bad. With Destiny's performance in the NASL open, he's destined to forever be a SC2 streamer and not a serious contender at any pro event.

Nothing but respect for how complexity dealt with the issue, i fail to understand how people can bash on them in any way.

Hater's are gonna hate it's only natural!
I think for Destiny to grow as a player and get even better he is going to need a team, and if he is unable to maintain a team's contract, i feel that his growth as a competitive player will be some what stagnate.
