I don't want to be mean, but col is apparently a "big organization" to him and that he couldn't be a part of it (for some reason). But had no problems giving an interview to Forbes. I dunno, sounds like he's got problems...
Giving an interview to Forbes representing yourself and being a part of Complexity is pretty fucking different... What problems has he got?
Hahaha
Jeez, Destiny apologists.
Yeah, it's different, but they are similar in other ways.
It just sounds like he's got this whole anti-establishment thing going for him, but his other actions seem a bit contrary.
If you can't make parallels unless something is exactly 1:1 the same then you got problems.
It seems that there's a bad precedent being set about organizations rushing to play the blame game. (You can't break up with me!- I'm breaking up with you!)
It would be good for those involved to remember that 1) A few people joining an organization does not automatically entitle them to respect. 2) Joining a venerable organization does not automatically confer that organization's authority onto you.

omg, that was ridiculous.
I honestly do not mind, I don't watch destiny, he never performs well enough to actually let me watch him in major tournaments, and he admits that it was a dick move.
That being said, there should be no argument here, he signed and then broke an agreement. They were fully justified. The result seems to have not effected either party anyway.
edit: oh god my eyes, how can you write something so confusing.(said as nicely as possible!) + Show Spoiler +

I don't understand the support for Destiny over this decision. Does he honestly believe that he will lose viewers if he "sells out" and tones down his language? He'll probably lose more viewers once they graduate high school.

Pot, meet kettle.
Their argument is solid in that people are getting offended by words and complaining when watching a stream that they voluntarily choose to watch.
I don't know if you actually listened to it or not, or have some selective hearing when you listened to the clip...but I'll just leave it like that...
okay, they are cussing, stop acting like they are the only ones in the world who cuss, they have a good argument and agree with debo and destiny 100%...i think the sc2 community needs to sway away from all this "professionalism" and stop getting offended with every bad word that is said
Even if it is his right to talk the way he does, why does he have to do it? I'm certainly no saint when it comes to language, but I'm not about to start dropping f-bombs in front of my mom because I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate that. I just don't understand why he feels like he HAS to talk this way, are people seriously going to stop watching him if he stops calling people fag like that's the only redeeming aspect of his stream?
If you listen to his arguments about language, it has nothing to do with him having to talk a certain way, he just feels comfortable using his language with no inhibitions provided the context is non-offensive or prejudicial.
He's not doing it to appease an audience, it's how he started out, I doubt he did a personality survey to find out what would get him the most popular and decided to stick to that, it's just how he talks.
I personally think there's no issue with censoring yourself in regards to certain words, it takes next to no effort for me to not say a word that may effort many people, particularly when it's not a very common or necessary word, but he feels that responsibility isn't his because of the nature of language, he believes it's the responsibility of the listener. It's not as simple as you make it out to be.
For me, it's a question of simplicity and not offending people who are easily offended when I can simply remove a handful of words from my vocabulary. For him, it's about standing for the contextual nature of language and not censoring himself because some people think certain words automatically make you a bigot.

I'm mostly amazed at the number of people offended by his language. I don't understand how you can be a gamer yourself, use the internet often and NOT come across this sort of thing on a daily basis. Do you enable the profanity filter on everything as well?

His language doesn't offend me, his opinion on it does.

You can say the same thing about every other player's standard play such as marine tank, ling bling muta, the collossus ball, etc..
No you actually can't, because high levels of infestors are not as standard.

He speaks that way to take the power back from the words. Because they're just words, they shouldn't be able to have a whole shitton of power over us.
And besides, why do you care if he talks like that? If he offends you, don't bother watching. If everyone who watched him were offended, and left, he'd have zero viewers, and zero income.
Anyway, back on topic: I'm not terribly surprised that Destiny and col have split ways (though i was a little after i heard that they were picking him up w/ the rest of the root guys), but i've got to say, i feel like it's probably the best for the both of them, and wish all nothing but the best

The comparison doesn't make sense to me, in one stance, he's giving an interview representing himself and in another, he's a part of an organization. You seem to imply it's hypocritical because he doesn't want to be a part of Complexity but was fine with giving an interview to Forbes but those are entirely different, it doesn't make him hypocritical.

This doesn't make any sense. He uses these words -because- they have power. He can't just substitute "the bad words" for any other word and get the same meaning.

He might , he might not. I think the main part is he felt like something would not benefit him or his income. Which is totally his decision to make. I personally wouldn't stop watching him because he sold out, but he has a family depending on him and thats something i totally understand. So what ever his reasons are they were his to make and hopefully it not only works out for him, but for complexity, catz, drewbie and rest of root. He will probably gain more viewers with the people outside of high school cause he has more of an appeal to adult community in my opinion. I could be wrong but i am not in high school and would rather listen and watch his stream over any other ones out there.

First from my perspective, I was raised well enough to know that when speaking in a public forum you don't fucking swear(I said speaking) and words such as n***er should never be used. Quite frankly it disgusts me when people use that type of language, I almost immediately lose all respect for them if they just throw words like that around. Sure you can try to find loop holes by saying "it really does not have meaning when I say it." But if you have to find a loop hole in the first place then you are doing something wrong.
In terms of gaming, if people are being ass hats in some form of voice chat(xboxlive, vent, etc) I just mute them, or block communication in sc2. I like to think that the people I play with are not mindless losers that just think what they want to think and don't give a fuck if some one else does not like it.
That being said, in some ways Destiny does fall into the type of person I just described, therefore, I avoid him.
As for you, it is rather unfortunate that you have been desensitized by your online social circles, and it is perfectly fine if you do not care, but please do not endorse such childish behaviour.
He speaks that way to take the power back from the words. Because they're just words, they shouldn't be able to have a whole shitton of power over us.
Really? Who knew that beneath the SC2 flavoured ranting he is actually acting to save us from the power of those terrible bad words. This makes so much more sense than him just being immature.

LOL you just admitted that you are not a saint when it comes to language, you have no reason bashing destiny at all, im 21 years old, i am in the navy and i am cussing with sailors and people all day, it is just how we are, it is how we get by. of course we know when to put our manner mouths on but for the most part, language should not have an affect on how others judge you as an individual and it sad that it has to be that way. i would never start cussing in front of my mom or grandma. why do you think he feels he has to cuss all the time? maybe that is just the way he is, cussing does not automatically make you a bad person, but it is sad that in the sc2 community, that if you say fuck, or shit, you are automatically looked down as a villain and that is the treatment some posters are giving destiny, and he does not deserve it at all

How could someone who is aware of what a T-Rated game means, make a complain about language usage of a random dude on Internet. COMMON!!!
