I guess I am not as amazing at telling what the maps mean as you guys since I have no clue if these are good or bad yet.
Well you have to understand Blizzard has given us such great maps like Steppes of War, Desert Oasis, Slag Pits, Lost Temple, DQ, and close positions. When Blizzard starts making maps like Tal Darim, Test Bug, and Terminus. Then I am sure the community will have faith in their map making ability.
Until then we have to go with the fact Blizzard likes close positions and rush maps.

Anything is better than the 4 last maps they added so I'm pretty happy to see these maps

Speaking of rocks, there is not a single blue base on any of these maps with rocks on it, and only one where there are rocks on your (gold) third. All the other rocks are used to block attack paths, which is a much better use.
Map 4 has an easy third, and there's not so much as a pebble on it. The third on Kerrigan's Wrath laid wide open as soon as the rocks are gone, and features a Lost Temple-esque highground.
Shattered Sky is laid out essentially like Shattered Temple, except the third is along the primary attack paths except in cross positions (though cross positions actually provides a nice available 6 bases).
A counter-clockwise opponent spawn completely invalidates that third base. Map control will be RIDICULOUSLY important on the map, whose elevated bases mean that air control will be easier/more effective than ground control. Tanks, colossi, and air will be hugely important. 3rd bases will be very tough to defend except in cross-positions (when 4th bases become very tough), and probably depend on air dominance.
So, yeah, depending on spawn positions, it is at least equally as likely to have an impossible third as it is an "easy" one.

They look alright, but I'm desperately gagging for more maps, more frequently, and more maps from things like the GSL/MLG.
I want to be able to play on the maps the pros play on, right now map updates are too slow.

Well, that's what Blizz said when Season 2 happened. It's a decent amount of time, I think.
I remember people saying near the start of SC2's life that Blizz would never change the map pool. They're making up for lost time.

I would seriously like to know why they wont just take gsl and iccup maps, it's less work for blizzard and they get to put out better maps. Blizzard should be focusing on patches and HoTS and not crappy maps. Let the community do it, it worked for Brood War.

You say that until they replace Shakuras, Shattered Temple, DQ, and Metalopolis.
We have no idea what maps they are going to replace these four with. Do they replace the 4 least played or the four oldest?
Do they replace any 2 player maps with 4 player maps?

They all look tiny, at least some of them have open centers.

Seasons should be timed around Jan 1 April 1 July 1 October 1 and last 3 months.

eww these maps seem way too generic and square-ish

Standard 3rd timing for Zerg: Around when Mutas come out.

Shatted Sky is basically Metalopolis with rocks placed to alleviate close spawn woes. Metal has a really easy third. So will Shatnered Sky.

Traditionally, maps that get replaced are the oldest first, and then with a secondary emphasis on the map that are played least.

I want to be playing the same game I see pro's playing, not this weird funky "something else". I have slag pits delta backwater gulch veto'ed so I only play legit maps. I hope I will still be able to do so when s3 hits.

GSL maps are 100 times better

4th map looks fucking baller.

Maps 3 and 4 seem to have tons of potential, especially map 4. Maps 1 is definitely a downvote, though I'll see how the rush distances on map 2 work before making a decision on it.
I also like how the map 1 of the 2v2 pool is a pseudo 3-player map, though in a 2v2 shared-bases style. That should be really interesting to play on, and I really think Blizzard should consider adding a 3-player map to the 1v1 pool someday.

Does every map need to have fuckin high yields between bases? Does every fuckin map need destructible rocks ._.
Edit: And wtf is wrong with mineral only expansions? Sometimes you don't want people to three base turtle (cough the "macro map" cough).

Map 4 doesn't have rocks, even on the gold 4ths.
Are people in this thread even looking at the maps? Really.
