Actually Major League Gaming revelead false information all of a sudden yesterday, so we need to clarify. Our very own Marcus 'ThorZaIN' Eklöf has accepted GSL Code A status and will compete in GSL Code A in August 2011, however he will NOT compete at the upcoming GSTL for team F.United. We don't know what's about Naniwa, tho.
Mod Edit:
New information from Mouz Facebook
It's not a decision about ThorZaIN, more likely a decision from him. When we read this MLG newspost yesterday, the whole team including ThorZaIN never heard of it before, that he will compete in GSTL. Decision was made earlier that he will accept Code A status granted from his MLG Columbus placement and will travel to Korea in August to compete. Than this weird MLG post went online.

Well thats a bummer.
Mod Edit 2
On June 15 2011 19:45 Thorzain wrote: To clarify things: I will most likely play GSTL in F.United.
What happened was that I wasn't informed about me playing in the GSTL in the first place until I saw the official GOMTV news. When I saw the news I asked my team about permission and they didn't know about it as well. As long as I wouldn't be representing WMF i was allowed to play.
I sent a mail to GOMTv asking them about that and they said I would be able to represent mouz (shirt etc).
This morning when I woke up I saw this thread with the rather misformulated mousesports-tweet. What they meant was more likely that I'm not confirmed to play in the GSTL yet. However, now when I've cleared things out I will almost certainly still be playing it.
Mod Edit 3
We're pleased to say, that we've worked on a good deal with MLG and GOM, so ThorZaIN is able to compete in GSTL. Although he will travel to Korea in August, all matches from F.United will be postponed, so "white dude" ThorZaIN will be ready to rock some Koreans. Thanks to MLG and GOM who have been very cooperative on this matter and sorry from all parties involved for the rather unnecessary buzz about it.
UPDATE

What? Why would you not?
Looks like We Made Fox needs some more members.

that only says that he won't play for F.United
could be that he has already made an arrangement to team up with one of the Korean pro teams other than WeMade such as IM or something and therefore will play for them in the GSTL
|
|
|
Hmm, that sure is strange that MLG would release information like that without checking with the players/teams.
I think it's the right descision for ThorZain though - If he's serious about making it in Code A, he has to spend his energy there, and not spending it in a teamleague where he was very very little to gain, personally and professionally

Hmmm sounds wierd, well every one maybe team maybe doesnt want their players to compete for other teams?

This seems probable, seeing as mousesports was clear that he wasn't competing for F.United, rather than not competing in the GSTL at all.
|
Maybe he found another team since they said 'Not competing in F.united' as opposed to the whole GSTL?
|
Aww and here I was looking forward to seeing all-killing some Koreans.

sadface.
hopefully mousesports has their own partnership in mind!
|
That's pretty unfortunate, at least he will still be participating in Code A. Possible as well that he may assist with another team in the GSTL, but I don't think that is the case. The only thing I can think of why he isn't participating in the GSTL is a schedule conflict.
|
=[ maybe thorzain doesn't want to show off his builds where it doesn't count? take that back, really doubt that's the reason.
probably just a time conflict and he can't attend, would like updates though
|
Maybe thorzain's management don't want a mouz player to play for a rivaling team or vice versa. Fully understandable imo.
|
He is still sponsored by mouz, we don't know what they had to say about the deal ...
|
I guess it would be undesirable if one of the sponsors of mouz was a competitor of one of the sponsors of the Korean team (ex. Coke vs. Pepsi) but otherwise, I can't imagine Thorzain playing on a Korean team would be anything but great publicity.
|
I just realized GSTL will be every thursday and friday<_< Anyways he is a player that is very good at preparing for matches.Maybe he feels like team league is a waste of time and would rather practice. If that's so i can understand.
|
|
|
perhaps he thinks time spent training for GSL will be more beneficial than time spent trying to win for F.united at GSTL
|
I don't get it ... It's good opportunity to play, but obviously maybe if his team doesn't want him to play, I couldn't blame him or mouz for it
|
Maybe mouz didnt get that Thorzain would represent mouz and play as a mercenary for F.United.... He would still wear his mouz uniform... Sadly this decision would hinder the amount of time that Mouz and its sponsors would be shown in GSL. Its like they are forfeiting showing mouz logo one day, every week.
Dont get the new management of mouz at all
|
|
|
Well this really sucks. Why wouldn't he do it since he is already going to be there? Mouseports doesn't want him to be associated in any way at all with any other team?
|
|
|
|
|
Conflict of sponsors maybe? thats my best guess.
|
NOOOOOOOOOO!
This makes me cry tears of sadness ;_;
I was really looking forward to seeing him in the GSTL
|
Mousesports should definitely try to make a deal with some team participating in GSTL, letting Thorzain go to Korea just for Code A is wasteful, he could get much more exposure in GSTL.
|
Kinda sucks for now, but seems like MLG/GSL/players/players' management need to clarify a lot of issues for now. I'll wait for updates. They may decide to eventually allow the deal to go through. *shrug* PEOPLE POWER! WE WANT TO SEE IT MOUZ!
But either way, I'm actually really hoping that WeMadeFOX expands though, so that we may get to see them actually be a viable stable team into the long run.
|
Who else is in Wemade fox? Lyn/moon/naniwa(maybe) ???
|
im interested to see what happens here, as they specify not playing for fox team, but dont say he wont be playing at all, all the Koreans rate him as one to suceed in Korea, so maybe a Korean team who have similar/same sponsers as Mouz will be having Thorzain in their team, bound to release a statement soon!!
|

Theres still another person to be released from MLG who is joining according to their statement. And yeh SaSe is going to Korea but he isn't confirmed to be doing any GSTL yet.

PS. This needs to be in community news so people would know...

Damn =( That makes me upset. I didn't think the GSTL could get better and then they made it happen. Now they're taking it away from us =(
At least he's still in Code A

Yea, thats what most likely happened.
Now I'm more interested in the third player that MLG will announce to join Naniwa.

Hmmm

He has everything to gain professionally. Not only will he be able to test his skills against the competitiors he is likely to go up against in GSL, but he will also be able to get used to playing on a GSL stage which will only increase his chances of succeeding.

code a is much more important for a player as competent as ThorZaIN. gogo code s status!

This would make a bit sense cause Koreans thought that the players that got the code A by their MLG performance might just lose in round 1 of code A and just pack up and leave... Gom gave them a chance at playing for the rest of the month (in GSTL) and now mouz says... Who needs it.
|
If Mouz actually blocked this I think there would be a strong incentive for Thorzain to find another team
|
Man this news sucks and really doesnt make much sense - at least until we get more information.
Playing in the GSTL would get him alot of games on a big stage and massively increase his fanbase, and provide exposure to Mouz.
Hope we hear the reasons behind this as I'm sure all fans foreigners and koreans alike were looking forward to one of the strongest foreigner's inclusion.

What, MLG didn't feel like informing Thorzain about adding him to F.United's roster? Seems like bad organization to me. I wonder if Naniwa knew beforehand, and if he's going to play with WMF.

Communication ftw ! xD T_T

Looks like for once Xeris was right about communication skills of GOM...
|
This F. United seems like a silly idea anyway... It's not like they'll be able to compete with a solid team that knows its members inside out.

They said August 2011, but they must mean July, no? GSL Code S/A is every other month, the next one wouldn't be until September I think.
|
I hope at least Naniwa is still playing.

ThorZain. Please compete in the GSTL. Pretty please.
GoMTV and/or MLG should be more careful releasing things like this though. They look like amateurs now.

Thorzain is pretty good I don't think he'd do well in GSTL format. When he's prepared for his opponent he is a force to reckoned with, but when it comes to spontaneity there is still much to be desired from him.
Whatever his decision to not play may be, goodluck to him in the GSL.

Yes its bad, but that wasn't GOM. It was MLG that announced it, therefore blaming Goms communication seems a bit silly.

GOM also did announce it, even a few hours earlier than MLG in the GSTL newspost.

Sounds like bad communication indeed, but even so... why would you not? You're there, you might as well play.

I just read through the twitter/facebook links, and to clarify:
Mouz and ThorZain weren't aware of any plans for GSTL / F.United to occur. They are not against it; they are not saying it won't happen; just that no one ran it by them. I guess GOM are making the opportunity available publicly before privately, which is a bit strange.
Krzysztof Narloch yet your clarification caused a bit of uproar. [...]
mousesports Oh, maybe that got wrong a bit in the end. We don't have any problem with our players competing in other teams which are set up for a special tournament (F.United for GSTL in this case; MorroW in the World All-Star team before). We just meant the fact, that ThorZaIN was announced for GSTL, which really surprised us and we haven't been contacted before neither bei MLG nor GOM officials or press coordinators or anyone else. 18 minutes ago

probably because Mouz and Thorzain were a bit putout at not being advised or spoke to regarding this, and MLG most likely auto assumed(wrongly by look of it) that Thorzain would play in the GSTL for that team after accepting the Code A invite and advised GOM of this, so not really GOM's fault they just assumed that MLG had already spoke to Mouz and Thorzain.

Quoting from Xeris's post.
The fact that GOM notified foreign players basically three weeks before they would need to actually go to Korea leaves teams and organizations a VERY limited time to make accommodations.
2. The players who were invited all ended up arriving anyway and it wasn't a very big deal. Just a lot of inconvenience to the managers of the team.
3. Dreamhack also has its fair of setbacks with almost half of the Koreans invited not going although they had pre-announced them as invited. No one's blaming them for jumping the gun on the announcement. (I'm aware that they weren't announcing false information when they made the announcements, but the point is things like these happen and there's still time to rectify it... no need to make a big deal about it).

To clarify things: I will most likely play GSTL in F.United.
However, now when I've cleared things out I will almost certainly still be playing it.

also, the koreans dreamhack had invited accepted the invite then backed out, they didn't jump the gun, it's 100% the fault of the koreans, that's not a fair comparison at all

Update - Nuke thread of Mod to update first page please?
mousesports We're pleased to say, that we've worked on a good deal with MLG and GOM, so ThorZaIN is able to compete in GSTL. 38 seconds ago

It was just a misunderstanding / miscommunication between us, the player and GOM/MLG on the other side. Everything is solved and ThorZaIN will definitely play the GSTL. No need to question the team or one of our managers.

i cant blame GOM/MLG for getting ahead of themselves and putting the word out there before contacts were made with Mouz and ThorZain respetively. big news are hard to manage, it was like bringing MKP or MVP to next MLG, only the other way around: some gsl/mlg official just couldnt resist the inner nerd and went on to hype ppl

I am so happy that he is infact playing in the GSTL that Im going to harass my parents to buy a pass for GSTL (Im not sure how that works never bought one...and now with the new format...do I buy only for GSTL? Or do I have to buy a bigger one that has GSL and GSTL together? Got to check that out later!)....Im usually good at harassing in SC2 lets see if that translates into IRL ^^ lol
GL TZ and Nani....and tho WMF is in a really tough group, I hope our foreign duo can take a few matches for them....anybody knows who is the third foreigner?

Just to clarify, Thorzain (and the other MLG guys) be playing with WMF as F.United while FXO will have a roster entirely on their own? Is this right?

GL TZ and Nani....and tho WMF is in a really tough group, I hope our foreign duo can take a few matches for them....anybody knows who is the third foreigner? I remember reading that MYMSase would be at the foreigner house this time around, although I haven't seen anything about him playing in gstl.
But SaSe is there because of road to Korea or something right? Im talking about the third player from MLG Im not exactly sure but I believe SaSe is only going for GSL and not GSTL.

yes. 3 invitees from MLG (Thorzain, naniwa and another unannounced[unless it is sheth in that case he plays with fxo]) will play with FUnited. FXO is basically an invited team.

This is awesome. Definately getting another GSL VOD ticket !

I'm gonna buy the ticket this season for sure!

btw GSTL is not free is it?

Don't forgett that by the Time F.United starts playing in teh GSTL is Week 6 of the tournament. This is a week after MLG anaheim, so there might be anouther couple of foreginers to add to that roster.

sounds like a sponsor problem. To me it sounds like they want to make sure he is representing the mouz brand and not WMF. Probably will be worked out by both parties I'm sure.

Thanks MaX. All good.
I think I caused some confusion too bcs I sent Thorzain an email about the GSTL piece which he evidently didn't get. Django, Marcus and I have all spoken now, so I believe we're squared away.
Net/net, Thorzain's playing in Code A and GSTL with F.United (and wearing the Mouz jersey!).
GLHF!

No. it was 5 bucks for 1 week tournament but with the new format i don't know. Maybe it's been mentioned somewhere but i missed it. Possible that they will just tie it with the GSL subscription though since GSTL basically replaces GSL on thursday and friday.
Whatever the pricing scheme, i'll just say that GSTL has always been the best value for money. If you can only pay for one Starcraft 2 tournament, go for GSTL.

So problems solved? Then fuck yeah !!!

You can't do that, that's preposterous. There are Koreans on the team.

It's tempted to change F. United to F. United States or F. USA but that seems to have the opposite of the desired effect
|
So everyone's happy now. I love these kinds of happy endings. ^_^
Also, F. (what does the F stand for anyway, Fox?) United needs a Liquipedia page, the GSTL4 page also shows WeMadeFOX participating, which is incorrect (and as we've seen from this episode, correctly showing who is representing what is actually big deal).

hmm, maybe Free agents United ? but that should be FA United though.. either way, its great to see Thorzain in Korea! Especially in the GSTL.

I hope you are right Unlikely, it would definitely take more than a week to figure out a) Who's taking the spots they got from Aneheim and b) Move the to Korea. It takes longer to plan a move within the same city, let alone to a foreign country with a large language barrier.

Good news! Looking forward to see with my fellow swede and friend can do in the GSL/GSTL.

Ready for Thorzain to bring the rain, aha.
His games vs Select were so gooooood at MLG, I think his style would be good in Korea.

Why would it be F. United States or F.USA?
It doesnt make any sense, nor do u lol

Ouf, confusion!
So, thorzain IS competing in the GSTL
And from what I understand, he's playing games on behalf of WeMadeFox, but he isn't wearing a WMF team shirt, he's wearing his mouz shirt (seems like mouz wasn't really ok with him running around in a WMF shirt, which turned out not to be an issue anyway?)
Edit: Ok, I'm entirely wrong. He's playing for F.United. Who and what is F.United?
Also, Thorzain's icon is 100% badass.
|
Of course no team would accept one of it's players(employers) using another team shirt... now that they got the confirmation that thorzain would hear mouz colors they are fine with it.
excellent news! thumbs up for GSL, WMF, mouz and thorzain ;D

glad to see how this whole thing turned out, can't wait to see "our" guys in the GSTL.

I'm still hell-confused. What, exactly, is F. United? The first time I ever even heard of it was in the MLG post.. I get that it's affiliated with WMF, but is it actually a team or just a "friends of WMF" badge they made up on the spot to allow Thorzain and Nani to play?

Fox United seems to be the old WeMade Fox Warcraft 3 team (Moon, Lyn, Soccer) combined with some foreigners from the GOM-MLG exchange program, hence the Fox "United."
I'll actually be highly interested to see if Fox United lets some mercenary foreigners or teamless Koreans to join.

Wow I am really glad I just noticed this thread after everything is settled, otherwise that would have been depressing news. I can't wait to see him in the GSTL! Go Thorzain!

However, now when I've cleared things out I will almost certainly still be playing it.
just want to mention you have an awesome icon!!!
