Not to mention.... they're just playing on Bnet? Wtf is that. Get the same client that GSL uses, ffs. gsl goes over bnet too, there is no sc2 lan version
anyway i had a great experience with the mlg free hq today and if i wasn't going to be on the road for a decent portion of tomorrow i'd definitely buy the pass. already planning to for anaheim

And the ads..... christ. Every time you switch quality or stream too? Like going from red stream to blue stream HD I have to watch 2 ads, I miss like a full minute of whatever game is going on from that. Wth? Or blizzard can actually do something right for once and give us LAN support.

Stream went amazingly today. I'm really impressed with MLG - if I wasn't a student in college about to graduate I would definitely pay. Will be paying for Anaheim most likely as I will be working full-time then.
I'm a little sad about the BNET lag issues still - I feel really bad for the players because it hurts them the most when this happens.
But this just puts more emphasis on the fact there really needs to be some sort of LAN, even if they just give it to big tournies. (As if Blizzard hasn't already seen enough evidence for this /boggle).

Wait wtf? I was going to buy the ticket JUST for the ads, but the ads are still there?

Blizzard knows that having no LAN gives problems but they will not ever give lan access no matter how much evidence is shown because they do not want to lose control over thier game.

Undecided as well. Do want to reward all the great work by MLG, but I recently have spent on GSL and there's only so much I can put out on something I used to watch for free. (especially with so much free content).

Quit asking for lan. They know that third party servers will be up in a matter of months if they do that

What was your point again?

All the people you are referring to don't have the paid version now. If anything it will act negatively on sales since a lot of people will stay away due to it not having lan or at the very least won't be buying heart of the swarm because if they already bought WoL. I really think they would gain more money putting it in then keeping it out, as of right now i don't plan on buying hots. You will never get rid of piracy, but you can always get rid of paying customers.

If MLG removed ads for the HD pass, I would buy one in a heart beat.
|
Let's be honest guys, we all know that if SC2 had LAN, there would be MORE pirating issues. Sure you can get around bnet with private servers, but it definitely cuts out a lot of potential pirates since it's not as easy as setting up a hamachi connection.
|
I will never ever buy anything from MLG because those guys just doesn't do things right.
- ads on HQ - where the hell are the vods?
How can GSL get things right right off the bat where MLG still has these "feedback to MLG" threads? and "will you pay for MLG"?
|
I feel the problem with the HQ pass is that you get ads while switching to the hq stream, meaning as a paid user you will get more ads than a free user. I don't care about the ads between games, since watching ads or a black screen doesn't make much of a difference, but not allowing paid users mute the stream during ads seems kind of silly. Also, slow uploading of vods.
I will probably buy a HQ pass this event, but if these issues aren't fixed, I wont buy them in the future.
|
no vods? or are there vods on MLG's site?
|
Sorry to say that the amount of ads i got from switching streams, and the length of those ads is a real turn off, although it might be because i don't watch TV, therefore i don't watch commercials.
|
did the restream crash for anyone else? I missed a lot of todays matches due to work and was going to watch them on the restream, but it crashed, just keeps saying "Updates in progress player will return shortly!" It's been doing this for about an hour now I think

As long as I can see what's going on (as I can on the standard stream), that's fine for me. I don't work all weekend otherwise I'd maybe buy it for the VODs but if I'm watching live but still getting just as many ads there's not really any point for me. I'll just order a pizza to eat while watching the free stream with that 10 bucks.

Automatically unmuting = no support ever.
Player stretching the video full-screened to 16:10 resolutions is horrible. FIX THAT. (I guess it does the same to 5:4 Monitor users, which are still far more common than 16:10, probably around even in numbers to 16 : 9 users - anyway, a lot of potential HD pass buyers that will never ever consider to get it due to the totally fucked up picture in full screen for them).
LQ stream is damn blurry, but okay for free. HQ is still too blurry. It's actually close to the point where you could not read the supply numbers and that is imho not worth $10 for only 3 days, especially since the ads are not removed.
Pro-Tip: Your reputation further decreases due to the black screen for people who block the ads (since people are so "special" that they think the stream is not working).
Edit: Also, the players were not loud enough in their interviews compared to the interviewer and the commentators. Nobody likes to adjust the volume all the time. Even worse if you have to make it so loud to understand one of the two guys talking, that the other will be heard by all of your neighbors.

Hamachi is super easy to set up.I'd say a good 90% of the people who would pirate it either don't have it or can't afford it now. Then you have to take into account the people who avoided buying wol and possibly pirated it because of the lack of lan out of pure spite. As an example I'm not purchasing HotS out of spite for a few reasons, one of them of course being LAN.
