Listening to SotG and yeah there is some skewerdness but I still love this.

If foreigners feel so threatened by Koreans winning games then they're not spending as much effort or time as the Koreans and then they frankly don't deserve the fucking prizepool.

This news makes me happy all over the inside. :D

Also, definitely marking MLG in my Calender now. Gotta watch and see who's going to be in the next GSL. (Now I just need a job so I can afford the pass)

I don't see the big problem with having these invited Koreans into the open bracket, putting them into the championship bracket seems a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

Glad I'm not the only one, some foreigners seem to already see defeat when a korean enters a lan tournament and I hate that shit, also I think the MLG/GSL exchange is totally fair, Code A is harder to qualify for than going through the Open brackets and the winner of MLG (after Columbus) gets fucking Code S you know how hard that shit is to get now with Code B, Code A, Up&Down.

It's worth it even if you miss fucking IPL/NASL matches or some shit cause it'll definitely focus more on you as a player since you'll be one of the foreigners out there.

Some foreigners just seem to want easy western money instead of becoming the best damn player there is.

Glad players like Naniwa are out there at least, he wants to win it all and doesn't care if Koreans enter a tournament totally the right attitude.

Because putting a foreigner into Code A is fair? Code B is fucking 10 times harder than the Open Brackets of MLG from what I've seen. Also you have to win maybe 2 games in Code A to get to the Up&Down matches. That should be a very big draw imo, playing over there increases your popularity by a large margin since you'll be one of the few foreigners playing in easily the best sc2 tournament, it's good for you, sponsors the whole shebang.

I really love this, but what i see wrong with this:

1. Top 3 of MLG might not want to go to Korea.
2. Koreans get seeded into Top Spots for MLG, while Top 3 Non-Koreans in MLG don't even get Code S, but rather Code A instead. This is a bit unfair as a lot of the Non-Koreans may miss out on tournaments and if they don't go for in Code A they have nothing to do.

If they dont go far in Code A then they don't deserve code S. You cannot argue that Bomber, Losira, MMA dont belong in the championship pool of MLG. This is the same championship pool that included Gretorp last mlg.

If 20 Koreans fly out to MLG and all win, then they deserve to be there. iNcontrol seemed scared of the Koreans last night on SoTG. Maybe it is time for foreigners to take that extra steps to get on Korean's level.

Koreans are put in the Championship bracket because the first day of streaming on Friday consists only of the Championship pool play. If all the Koreans were put in the open bracket then there would probably be a decent number of viewers that will skip day 1 of the stream until they can watch the Korean v. non-Korean matches.

I too, cannot wait for westerners to magically get on the koreans level, wait a minute thats silly.
I too, cannot wait for foreign SC2 to go the way of foreign Brood War.

Because the boon of getting into code A is something none of the top progamers besides Naniwa, Thorzain, Morrow and Select wants or desires. Going to code A would for most be a punishment, not a price and it's a whole different story for the Koreans coming to MLG.

edit I mean spending one month in a $1300 tournament and giving up on all big tournaments going on in EU/NA...who in their right mind would choose that - unless you're Naniwa and your goal is to be the best of the best.

Why should it be silly? The Koreans aren't as good as they are because "they're Korean" and that Korean blood somehow makes them magically better at StarCraft they're better because the professional infrastructure is there.

There are hugely competitive individual and team tournaments, huge prize pools, sponsors to be had as well from playing in the GSL. If in North America and Europe we could up the ante in terms of the amount of events and also perhaps the prizes for the players, maybe even try to have team leagues, then I don't think there's any reason why foreigners can't do as well as the Koreans. Yes, they will have to start training MUCH harder and have to work to get to the same level as the majority of Korean players and teams, but how can that not be better for the industry? If Pro-Korean players are the only demographic of players willing to create the competitive infrastructure for truly great play, then can you really blame people for only wanting to watch them play? The way I see it, anything that pushes foreign players to become better and for more events to be created is a good thing.
