Still the deal seems really one sided in MLG's favor, but I guess if it keeps the Koreans happy and playing in the GSL it works out for Gomtv
LOLOL awesome. That's kinda fishy!
But yea, I still think that Koreans do get a better deal. GSL Code A DOES give you the opportunity to get into code S, however there's just not enough of a steady earning in the code a. Sadness

Did everyone forget the top placing person at MLG get's Code S?
O.o

foreigners get seeds into Code A.. yet he complains when koreans get seeds in MLG? Because the boon of getting into code A is something none of the top progamers besides Naniwa, Thorzain, Morrow and Select wants or desires. Going to code A would for most be a punishment, not a price and it's a whole different story for the Koreans coming to MLG. edit I mean spending one month in a $1300 tournament and giving up on all big tournaments going on in EU/NA...who in their right mind would choose that - unless you're Naniwa and your goal is to be the best of the best.
If your goal isn't to be the best of the best, you're not in this for the right reasons.
I understand why some of the foreigners are adverse to this - the koreans have the available fiscal backing, and not every foreigner does. But with the money getting involved in Western esports these days, if you're not putting in the 110% when you can, why are you doing it?
I like Inc and IdrA, they're good guys. And they do a lot for the community. But sometimes you have to wonder if them and other players are spending a bit too much time on other endeavors rather than practicing.
Step up your game, boys. You all have the talent, lets see it shine. I wanna see the foreigners crush the Koreans more often.

marine king you let me down =(

wow ST_Bomber in MLG... that's so awesome! finally i get to see my favourite player against the foreigner scene! :D

nerdgasm for bomber.......... omfg

I think its only the us players who wouldnt take the chance to go over to korea. many europeans would like to go. I dont see any problems to take part in tournemants outside korea while they are in korea. most of the tournements are online and the gsl already made the scedules so that it wouldnt collide with mlg. there arent many lan tourneys anyway. also the time differences and lags shouldnt be a problem. when europeans or koreans take part in tournenment like fxopen, they have to deal with lag and difficult time too. so I dont really know why people like Incontrol would give away this chance.

This makes me even more excited for my road trip to Columbus! Can someone do some research and see if any of those Korean guys are into white girls?

they should add 4 more slots to code s otherwise no sane mlg player will take the deal.

Makes sense for foreigners but having that many direct invites weakens/cheapens the Code A/ move up down system. In addition, MLG would have nothing to reciprocate with- as it is, it looks like MLG gets the better deal.

k guys, time to sign up for the next MLG qualifiers

If you were planning to play at MLG Columbus, make sure to purchase your player pass as soon as possible. They are going very quickly and only a few passes remain, so don't wait to the last second. Go HERE to purchase your player pass.

I wonder if Cella will go to MLG with MMA since he's the headcoach and can translate for him!

I'm glad that MLG recognized, although not as soon as they should have, that STARCRAFT is the future of E-sports. This is huge and I'm happy as a long time MLG supporter to be apart of this exploding community.

I don't like the exchange program for a couple reasons.
1 - The prize pool for Code A is small compared to MLG and GSL last a month while MLG is three days. This gives the Koreans the better end of the deal since they can dine and dash MLG while foreigners have to make the commitment to stay in Korea for a month in Code A. (It does say 1st place winner of MLG will get Code S but that is after MLG Columbus)
2 - I don't like the idea of seeding players in Code S/A. GSL is a highly competitive tournament with the best players where even some Code B players can do well in tournaments such as the GSL, so just handing someone Code S doesn't make any sense to me.
My Fix
1 - Make 3/4 Koreans go through open bracket and the one Korean with the most GSL points get seeded into 1 of the top 20 bracket.
2 - Winner of MLG gets seeded into Up/Down and make them earn Code S (If they are good enough to win MLG then they should have no problem getting to Code S). With the other MLG winners, make them go through Code B.
3 - Increase GSL Code A prize money as a better incentive for the foreigners.
