Esport has consisted of sponsor money since the dawn of time, now that devs are getting involved we should just embrace it. These companies knows what they're doing.
So as long the games are succesful, the companies behind will find reasons to invest further to up its popularity. Well.. Dota 2 is supportable, Valve is balls deep in money and they're doing this to boost their game's introduction rather than help eSports. My main worry is LoL, I don't know how they're affording a 5 million dollar tournament on their "f2p" (not really most of my friends have bought so much shit) system.
As Incontrol said though, hopefully it all works out.

What tourney would generate as much viewers when they can't get to 10% of that prizepool? If blizz sponsors a tourney for 10million (by tripping and picking up the change) - the 3rd party companies feel demotivated to host one aswell with sponsors. They simply can't generate the viewers to fullfill the ROI.
Edit; and thats not even mentioning big scene sponsors like intel/steelseris etc, they would choose their attachment to tourneys based on viewers. The blizz 10million one would be worth it for the buzz alone, the 50.000 tourney wouldn't. For a time it could hold, but like they said in iTG; the bubble would burst upon itself.

whats the difference between inside the game and state of the game?

Err... Valve is obviously going to win this "war" they can host an infinite number of $1million tournaments, while it is highly unlikely that Riot is going to be able to keep hosting $5million tournaments.

LoL is one of the most popular PC game on the market right now, they're pulling in ridicilous numbers. They also got chinese investors.
I dont think money is a problem for either developer, its just their motivation on where to use it which may be the issue in the future.

Inside the game is more about interaction with viewers, people calling in, etc. State of the game is more like a talk show with pro players discussing on their own.
That's the way I see it anyway, someone will correct me if I'm wrong ! :D

Main reason I shut down the stream once people start calling in is it's just lower level zergs asking Idra about imbalances... Really dull in my opinion, though I don't know what djWheat can really do about it.

Oh, Idra. How can you complain about anything that Terrans or Protoss have when you're not even using infestors properly?
