Not everyone has the time and motivation to go to Korea. The Arizona house is pretty much the next best thing.
I honestly believe the bubble is growing way too fast. Million dollar tournaments and rising, monthly GSL tournaments with a small scene in Korea, it's going to burst imo.

To me the 5 million is just riot games feeling threathened by Valve. Because they know Valve don't make shitty games. If riot continues like that, i bet they'll go bankrupt soon.

Its really just LoL and Dota 2 pulling out these ridiclous prizepools out of their asses, but they're also one of the first developers to actually invest into the esport scene.
Esport has consisted of sponsor money since the dawn of time, now that devs are getting involved we should just embrace it. These companies knows what they're doing.
So as long the games are succesful, the companies behind will find reasons to invest further to up its popularity.

That's exactly it.
The war of the DOTA clones is most likely going to be won by Valve with DOTA2. The League of Legends guys are scared as shit about DOTA2 and they're doing the $5million season to try to take the attention away from DOTA2.
LoL will probably survive, but HoN is dead when DOTA2 comes out. HoN is a DOTA clone very close to the original, so DOTA2 will just be a better game for people who like the DOTA/HoN gameplay.
LoL is the most different in gameplay so there might be room for LoL and DOTA2.
HoN is undoubtedly dead though. That's why they just switched to free-to-play, they realized that DOTA2 will signal their demise.
