They aren't insects. They do have a Hivemind though, so obviously they're going to be insectlike in terms of that. They have Queens and Hives and such.

The Zerg aren't evil, they're just beasts controlled by the Overmind/Kerrigan. Always have been. agreed, the zerg have no motive, they are commanded and they follow obviously their leaders (overmind, kerrigan) need to have motive for what they do and personally I don't think it's very interesting to have their motive be "LOLOLO KILL SHIT KK?" on the other hand the motives should primarily be for the survival of the species or selfish to kerrigan/cerebrate etc.
The Overmind's motive was to assimilate the entire universe into the blissful harmony of the swarm.
The Overmind is the ultimate good guy of the series. We should all bow to the swarm!
I have no idea what Kerrigan's motive is supposed to be though. But I guess that's the whole mystery that they didn't really play with unfortunately.

It's possible the planet may make a showing in HotS but my gut feeling says it won't be. Who knows anything is possible I suppose. I think it'd be a neat thing to do but perhaps they have something more entertaining in mind then a flashback mission I hope.
Also Zerg are bug like. Deal with it. Heavily mutated and evolved bug things. Whatever the species started off as when it was consumed by the Swarm it's more or less a genetic freakshow at this point and they look like bugs to me sirs.

What would be really cool in HotS is if you could choose whether to use the Zerg for good or for evil ^^
However, I doubt that will happen

I've always thought this whole starcraft thing was suppposed to be either homage or just plain old ripping from AvP Aliens=zerg trying to assimilate/kill everything. The xenomorphs took on attributes from whatever being they were birthed from and were the ultimate killing machines. Zerg assimilate and evolve only the strongest species to become ultimate killing machines.
Predator=Protoss High tech weaponry, extreme honor in cases of warfare.
Human=terran The stupid race that tries to find a way to take over the alien/zerg to use them as a bio-weapon(see SC1 campain and Aliens movie) and end up getting killed.
EDIT: On topic though--I think the campaign will take you there and have it like "Kerrigan must go to the homeland to get in touch with the emotional/psychic home of the zerg" which is completely stupid. But in my head I agree with the others that the zerg appear to have finished with that planet. The current zerg homeworld is either Char or Aiur.

Thats kind of true, just the wrong franchise. Please dont open the box....things will get nasty and the point of the thread will be lost *-)
Im not sure if we will play there...maybe a flashback? Other than that I dont believe the planet will be visited, theres nothing new there. Other thing...Kerrigans objective was to be the Queen b*tch of the universe...so her porpuse was to kill everyone who doesnt follow her. Its the regular bad guy motive: I want to rule the UNIVERSE!!!
Btw shouldnt this be in the SP section?

Yeah, the zerg aren't evil on their own, because they lack the capacity to understand that what they are doing is evil.
They're Chaotic Hungry.

i heard the expansions are solely for campaign? if so, with no new units, i doubt ill be picking up any new expansion

Was that "leaked ending" proven to be real? It looks much more like an alternate ending to WOL.

Where are you getting this blatantly false info from? The new expansions will have new units and also new ladders.

haha good point!
ok, what i said was clearly an oversimplification. Without getting into a discussion of 'what is evil', i guess what i would hate is if the zerg 'team up' with protoss and terran to fight the xel'naga.
i've seen the leaked ending but blocked it out, i hope it's not for real!
more On Topic, i think the idea is the zerg behave like insects, not appear like them. (what a humourless response from me!)

Back in my day, the Zerg killed shit to become the perfect species and that was that. None of this "good or evil" bullshit.

I hope we get to destroy the planet.. cleanse it of all the vile zerg.. and kill them so hard they are unabled to be selected in multiplayer lol

Blizzard would be like, Hey no new units in Legacy of the Void but were gunna re-add zerg!

kerrigan's motive was to get back at the assholes who left her to die :-(
and this is what I mean; the zerg should definetly be the "enemy" but the motives of their leader should always be grounded in something other than just killing shit

Char is where the Overmind was birthed so it was more like the "main" planet No, it's not. It's only a base, but zergs had conquered other planets, before they're reached CHar
Zergs - I mean overmind

My point is in sc1 they were all different types of animals with really thick/hard skin
ummm ants carry things 50times as much as they way.. So the drones are essentially "worker bees/ants"

I think it's pretty obvious that this is leading up to a big team up to beat the xel-naga. But I don't know, if they pull it off properly it could still be pretty awesome. It doesn't mean everyone loves each other with a wonderful happy ending. Blizzard is usually pretty good at introducing extra factions that mix things up.
