I haven't seen this on TL yet, they've recreated the first two campaigns from SC1 so far. It's fun if you enjoy single player, and want a little story nostalgia.

That's a pretty cool project. I still associate Billy Idol's Rebel Yell with playing SC1 when I hear it simply due to the name of that campaign. Fun times.

Wow this actually looks really really cool.

One question though, how do these 'mod files' work? Basically what I need to know is, will it affect my install/normalgame in any way?

Not at all. I've used it, it simply works like a mod for every other moddable game. It only applies the mod if the custom map wants it. To actually play the campaign, you open the game with the map name as a parameter (Or drop the map file onto your launcher/shortcut), which causes it to load the mod as well.

Nice little side benefit(?) is that you don't have to logon to battle.net when loading these maps. Might be nice for dirty thieving pirates.

I started looking through these, and they're spectacular!

Do you think you'll go on to make all of the campaigns from BW once this project is finished?

I really hope so, because so far I've enjoyed this more than the main SC2 campaign by a longshot.

This is good stuff, solid post.

Edit: WOW. The production values on this are surprisingly solid. Voiceover, music and scripting are intact, and they even have those classic briefing segments.

Has anyone had any success getting this to run if you are using Wine to run SC2?

Great work on the earlier missions, but some of the later ones seem a little ... rough.... >_>

Like the 3rd to last one I think (first time you use Duke), you're instantly supply blocked, the control tower left over is bugged, and your CC is far from optimal on the mineral placements.

It's nostalgic, though. =)

Can't say I know if it's exactly the same as SC1, but the SC1 campaign missions weren't known for starting you off with good building placement and build orders.

Being instantly supply blocked was quite common in campaign missions even in SC2, you often had to make a couple supply depots before you could even start making any workers because of the army you started with.

I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN! When SCII was announced, I couldn't stop talking about how some mod team would recreate the whole SCI campaign. I am so excited :D. So, so, so, so, so cool!

EDIT: Ok, I just finished the tutorial and started "Wasteland..." and in the words of Akara, this campaign may have yet restored my faith in humanity. Wonderful, wonderful production values - the sense of nostalgia was there from the introduction. Brilliant!

My thoughts exactly! It's too bad that few people seem to look at the Single-Player forum.

This deserves Front-Page treatment - even if only for a day.

Yea, I was really surprised I had been playing this for over a week and I couldn't find a single mention of it on TeamLiquid. I believe it's been posted on SCReddit, this mod deserves all the attention we can give it IMO. If nothing else, it will encourage the creators to continue onto Brood War... : )

Is the full campaign finished? Or just some missions?

This totally deserves a lot of attention :}

The entire "Rebel Yell" Terran campaign is done, as well as the "Overmind" campaign for Zerg.

Basically, 2 out of 3 campaigns from Starcraft have been redone with exceptional quality.

The depleted Uranium shell upgrade is bugged. You can research it as many times as you want, but it doesn't actually do anything >_<.

GRRR Yea I've noticed that as well. I wonder if it's related to the marines in SC2 already having the addl. range, or if it's just not working at all.

Yeah I was about to post and saying the music is bugged. It looks like it only plays through once then it stops.

Mission 8 of the human campaign has another bug too, you can take the control tower and attach the starport to it, but it doesn't actually work and you don't gain the benefit from it.

It's a good mod, got a lot of polish as far as production goes. I really like the hackneyed old school briefing screen and the occasional cinematics, that said, I think the maps could do with a bit of polish and some balance tweaks could be made to go along with the addition of medics/lurkers and the infinite selection/MBS/automine. I'm not saying it's easy, far from it, but it's a boring kind of hard- get wasted by a bot that switches from tank goliath marine into 20 cloaked wraiths attacking you in the next wave, reset, prep and then get killed by the next wave, reset etc. adding in SC2 style warnings like the air warning you get in the dig or similar would help. I think also revealing nearby expansions would help a lot, I always found it seriously annoying hunting down a place to expand in the original, especially since there were random specklings of enemies around the place not necessarily guarding expansions.

I really hope this turns into an iterated project, where people take what these guys have begun and add in polish, map tweaks, balance, new models, cinematics etc and in 3 years or so we have something almost as good as the new blizz stuff visual/gameplay wise

As an afterthought, is anyone else blown away at the contrast of amazing narrative/storytelling + kind of mediocre gameplay design in the mod campaign to amazing gameplay design + kind of mediocre narrative in sc2? Having them both in the same engine really sets it off for me.

What felt really strange to me was to have the Starcraft 1 music theme, voices and map of the original Starcraft on the Starcraft 2 engine. My brain was like "The sounds are the original game, the graphics are Starcraft 2, and the gameplay is neither of them: you are playing a major space-time disturbance!" :D

I noticed the characters' portrait doesn't have she "speaking" movements during cinematics. Is it only on my computer, or is there a technical reason for this.

Awesome job, looking forward to see The Fall!

This is really effing cool. I did a few missions to make sure it wasn't some failed remake but it's actually really well done. My first thoughts about the editor was someone remaking the SC1 campaign and I'm so glad someone is finally doing it! :D

You need to drag the map to the SC2.exe and drop it on the icon:.

some things i noticed during some tests:
Scourges cost no minerals or gas at all. A pair of them only requires supply.
Goliath Range doesnt actually increase the attack range. Though thats just from the look.

Production quality is very high, really good remake thus far. And I love the old siege tank sound, so much more ROAR :>

Pretty fun so far. I blitzed into the Z campaign and then got stuck on Eye for an Eye. -_-;; I'm not sure I like the creator's 'just mass sunken colonies everywhere' strategy ...

There are little things like portraits not animating, etc, but man swarming with 1 supply Hydras is nostalgic! Correction: 1 supply Hydras that are actually good!!

Kind of wish the difficulty was more consistent though. I went from just cruising through the mission before Eye for and Eye into 'wtf is this' difficulty imo. Weird progression. Its like how third-to-last in the Terran campaign was harder than the last one. -_-

Cool mod. A lot of nice work has been done here and it is fun to try out.

However I have a few criticisms about the retro-ness of the units. Part of me would prefer to just play with the modern starcraft 2 stats on the units. For example the firebats could be two supply and beefy etc. Also, it is annoying that you can't sink depots or do other fun things that starcraft 2 added. Since it is pretty much impossible to reproduce the damage/armor system of the original and you are adding things like medics to the entire campaign retrofitting everything half-way does not seem worth it.

So to sum up, I think it would be more fun to play if it adapted the original campaign levels to SC2 gameplay rather than trying to frankenstein it into SC1.

WAY harder as well.

I do like the difficulty, demanding you to be very cost effective with your units and you can't just go mass marines and win like in the original version. Granted, I wish there was better consistency but there's only so much you can do with the game.

Also, all range upgrades for Terran does not work at all. +1 Range for Terran gives Combat Shields instead, and Goliaths +3 Range doesn't work either. Valkyries also attack Wraiths regardless if they're cloaked or not.

Also, music turns off if you restart a mission or continue to the next mission, though this problem goes away after mission 4.

Just finished up the Z campaign as well.

Muta imba in this campaign. Massing mutas is so good, especially in the penultimate level!

marine range doesn't upgrade T_T besides that very well done, it's slightly harder than SC1's campaign, hard enough that it'll keep your interest but never actually put you in danger of losing

Doesn't put you in any danger of losing? That Terran mission near the end is harder than anything in SC2 except a few missions on brutal.

No you don't.

The difficulty spike was made in mind of the much better UI from SC2. Change it back and you should might as well be playing SC1 on Brutal.

What's StarCraft Vanilla? I've never heard of this o.O

Is "vanilla" a term used to refer to non-expansions versions? I'm a bit confused

I just played the "Rebel Yell" campaign up to the installation mission. I had no idea you could do something like that with the SC2 editor! As others have said here, the SC1 sounds and unit stats with the graphics of SC2 is simply amazing. Only bug I've noticed so far is that the marine range upgrade can be researched as much as I want to, but it doesn't actually do anything. Is there any chance for an update or bug fix sometime soon?

This is so awesome but 1 question. I have a pretty retarded computer (24gb of ram, 2x geforce 580's 3gb of video ram total. core i7 950 blah blah. I play the regular sc2 campaign, and ladder 1v1 on extreme graphics always at 60 fps. I play these missions at 30 fps. Anyone else realize that? and is their an answer for it?

I havent played more so I could see the difficulty, only played 2-3 missions and they were easy. The 30 minutes deffend one they only broke one bunker. Not saying this is a pushover or anything, just anxious for a hard lvl!

Make it sc1 on brutal then, a challenge would be fun!

There would be no point in doing a remake if they even changed the UI back to SC1. If they want to play the original campaign exactly as it was made, they can pay $5 or whatever it is for a cd key these days.

fortunately in the weapon settings you can tweak how much damage is reduced for each armor point.

1 armor reduces firebat damage by 2. making it accurate.

Amazing stuff good work.

Only downside is, why do the portraits keep their mouths shut while talking?
And also, was it not possible to implement the original SC1 units sounds to SC2 units?
Edit: I mean, the hero unit sounds are fine, but the marine/firebat/medic sounds are from SC2... It would add to the nostalgia value if they were original too

When I first played this campaign, I was like "Medics? They were supposed to be with the UED. I know you could imagine some sort of medics even in the Koprulu sector, but still, that's the going to be overpowered." I built a small group of pure classic units, attacked, and got crushed.
I thought "okay, screw the lore" and went medics :D

Definitely feels like SC1 in Brutal.

Thank you to all the mapmakers who worked on this...

Players "idly" commenting (bugggg...this or buggg that) should read before doing so:
this has been stopped mid through.. of course it's not finished..

Ooh, this great piece of work has been around for 6 months or so.. maybe some people need to actually search before they go on about... "been waiting for this forever..."

And for anyone wishing this could be "finished/continued"... advertise around you and ask nicely ... maybe some mapmakers will continue this long ass project.

Again thank you all for your great work... starcraft reborn

This is the best mod for sc2 I've seen yet. I wish they updated it though, the range upgrade for marines doesn't work. I hope this will change if it gets more publicity.

Just in case not everyone is aware of it - search for SC1 Episode 2 Overmind, and you will find the 2nd campaign (zerg) also, created by the same bunch.

Awesome job really managed to capture the sc1 feel to it.

I guess I had to make a TL account at some point...

Thanks for the support, everyone. I have to say I'm pretty overwhelmed by the amount of attention this remake is getting. To not come here and get all the credit, though, I want to just mention that the Terran campaign was originally made by Ultraling during the beta (he's working on the Protoss episode now), and the mod is in fact a slightly modified Starcraft 2 - Brood War by MavercK, which you may have heard of.

Anyway, the U-238 Shells upgrade (and other possibly broken upgrades) is fixed in the latest version. Then again, the mod just seems to act different for everyone... I'm aware that some people are having issues such as music not playing, some images not showing, that kind of thing. I'd like to blame the Starcraft 2 localization or possibly Mac on those, but I'm not quite sure yet.

To all the people who are "unable to launch map", to be perfectly honest I'm just as confused as you are. All I can do is quote Shootemup:

i would suggest playing onward. mission 7 and beyond are FUCKING DIFFICULT. i breezed through sc2 brutal, etc... and it takes me several (10+) restarts and reloads to even defeat mission 7. it's crazy.

Some of the later missions are really hard because you have to get your econ up, with very very limited resources, and as soon as you've got that done, you're getting massively zerged by tons of units from all over the place.

Ahh, I feel like this is a very good project.. but in some sense, I think it loses some of it's true feel being "converted" to the SC2 engine. Some of you who haven't played BW before might not know the difference, but I think it's still a very good project overall.

Is it normal that I can't hear any attack sound effects? Like I can't hear the marines shooting, or raynor...

[edit]

I can hear the medic healing, but not any other attacks

For some reason I have no Jim Raynor :S Insta lose pretty much most of the missions.

Just did a bit more digging - in mission 3 I don't have the portrait or the actual model (in game) for vultures. In mission 1 I didn't get the Jim Raynor model or potrait in the briefing.

Any ideas? I've downloaded/installed exactly as per the instructions :S

Add the mod file link. Put it in Mod file in sc2. Same thing happened to me.

-still needs some work. I wish it was more like sc1 as possible since I play on Mac and after Lion is released I can't play legacy games anymore so this would be beneficial.

ATTENTION: To all those who are having problems with launching the game!

I have had the same problem for the past 2 days. Somehow JUST fixed it. Follow these steps and see if it fixes yours as well.

Step 1: Click Rebel Yell v1.03 UNDER RECENT FILES this is a must and download it. Save to Desktop.

Step 2: Once download is complete, extract to your maps folder in your starcraft 2 folder. The one located in program files. Replace all existing Rebel Yell maps. Make sure when you click on "Maps" folder that a sub folder called "Rebel Yell" is there. In that folder should be only the maps and no other folders.

Step 3: Once again under RECENT FILES. Click and download the "SC1 Mod v1.02" download and save to your starcraft 2 "Mods" folder, DO NOT CREATE A FOLDER CALLED SC1MOD, just simply save that file to the mods folder that should already be there. Replace previous mod with this one.

Step 4: You should be able to play the maps by Dragging the map on to the starcraft 2 shortcut. Enjoy.

Side notes: For some reason the only way I got this to work was by grabbing the maps and mod under the "Recent Files" located to the right of this page. If you downloaded it by clicking under "Download & How to play" it simply did not work. I also only got the maps to properly extract by saving the folder to my desktop first and then extracting it after to the maps folder. I hope this solves everyones problem!

This is... confusing to me. Apparently the mod file gets easily corrupted during the download, or something. Also:

Thanks Count, that should help a bunch of people. I always wait a few seconds by default before launching the game. The map starts could probably be smoothed out a little... I could also make a half-assed troubleshooting guide I guess.

This fix doesn't work for me. If I don't make the SC1MOD folder in the mods directory; I get the "Unable to load" error.

When I create the SC1mod folder, I can get into the game and get into the first map, but still no Jim Raynor, so instant-loss.

(I redownloaded the files as specified above to test all of this FYI)

I suppose I can use this thread to make a quick "bug" report: the protoss photon cannons in this campaign have damage 20, while in the original game, they dealt explosive damage (reduced vs light/medium).
It is not game-breaking in the zerg campaign, but I noticed it immediately in the second zerg mission, they are far more powerful against zerglings/hydralisks.

It is pretty much the hardest mission of them all. You will probably need to use some safes. Otherwise, Lings are very good. Very, very good. But you need to babysit them a lot, otherwise they will die instantly to reavers. Which is also why you will probably need a few safes, because if you miss one attack somewhere, you lose.

You can get an expansion in the top middle from the top left, and one the right. Both have a cannon and some protoss guys in them, though.

For the first few two waves, it helps, if you spot them in time, to nydus kerrigan, her two ultras, and her two hydras there. Also, you can produce drones from all three hatcheries in the beginning to jumpstart your economy.

I would advice you not to use mass crawlers, because, while it works in the beginning, at some time they will kill you, and you can not do a lot of other stuff while massing these crawlers.

If you somehow manage to get a good bunch of mutas, they destroy everything too. But this probably only happens after you killed at least one or two of the protoss bases with lings. Which is very easy, if you pay very close attention to the reavers. If you manage to absorb the first reaver shot with a single ling, and then focus it manually, your lings kill everything else. Sadly, if you don't focus the reaver, it is the last thing your lings will attack.

Edit: Also, i forgot to say that this whole campaign project rocks. A lot.

... correct, I've just checked. My bad then, I could have sworn it was explosive. I suppose I mixed things up with the dragoon and the missle turret...

About the campaign: on my computer, the IA doesn't react to guardian attacks. The unit just stands at the same place until it dies, unless the guardian gets really close. Anyone has the same issue?

I had a little trouble at first, but then I restarded the mission, and for whatever reason, 90% of the attacks came to my main/top right canyon... ez mode from there.

Can't say for sure if this would have been the hardest otherwise, but I personally found the next one to be. (Z9) Whenever he pushes with like 10 zealots, 6 dragoons, 2 archons, 1 reaver, 8 scouts, 2 arbiters, and 2 carriers, all with 3/3/3, I kind of felt it to be a little bit of a problem.

Then I found out you could make devourers as well >.<.

Oh, by the way, scourge are free units and costs only supply. They seem to be pretty buggy in behaviour though and aren't all THAT useful.

Love both campaigns so far anyway, especially episode 2.

Looking forward to ep.3

First I tried to do it without using Brood War tech, but it was so hard to keep the phalanges of zealots at bay with split forces that I eventually tried the lurkers, and the mission was suddenly a LOT easier.
Tech to lurkers, burrow three of them in each canyon and a couple more in your base, and you'll be relatively safe against all breakthrough attempts if you have a few zerglings to soak damage and hydralisks to deal with the scouts. Then I used a ball of mutalisks to wipe the map, as I did in many previous levels.

The Invasion of Aiur was a challening but very enjoyable level. Mutas deathcloud or guardian carpet-bombing don't work well due to the IA's templars/archons and scout/carriers strategies. This level was more of a macro game, and I had to make a good mix of units to deal withthe various threats. One my favorite levels so far.
I haven't try Full Circle yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Mutas are REDICULOUS, especially against terran. Pretty much, in any mission when you could get 2 gases, I just dumped all my gas into mutas, built a million lings with upgrades and rolled. I feel like the adrenal gland upgrade is monstrous also.

The difficulty level is intended, and I really like it (though I admit terran 8 was frustrating at times). You need to push slowly with tanks, build bunkers and turrets to hold the line once you've pushed forward. And save regularly, too.
The developpers said they might introduce lower difficulty levels at some point, but for now you'll have to deal with it.

Wait until mission 9 and 10. Suffice to say: archons/reavers/scouts.

Husky made videos of all the terran missions. I found them helpful when I got stuck on the tougher final 3 missions. BC are really helpful and taking down bases helps decrease reinforcements. Don't sit too long before taking out bases.

Once BCs became available, I just turtled with tanks/goliaths until I could get about 8-10 BCs and just 1a'ed across the map.

Someone posted a youtube on mission 8 for the zerg campaign. http://www.youtube.com/user/Knatteltattel#p/a/u/0/wBIDvD-kkx0
Knatteltattel does all the zerg missions up to 8, and he does a great job of keeping up on his macro. Really worth a look if you have trouble.

For the zerg campaigns, I turtled with lurkers/hydras. Trick is to build a bunch of hatches to keep up your macro (3-4 for the 1 base is good, I ended up with 11 hatches). Make a Guardian/Devourer deathball and 1aed across the map and won. If you have a lot of leftover minerals, just churn out 904543 lings and attack with them. You can clear a lot of the map with only lings to make your guardian/devourer assault go faster.

I definitely enjoyed both Rebel Yell and Overmind in SC2; the AI is much stronger than in BW, but the mechanics are easier.

I can understand why Terran 8 has been giving so many people difficulty... go heavy, heavy mech with at least 6 factories and crank out tanks and goliaths... a couple of early nukes really helps in pushing out of your base, and then turreting up the entire right side of the enemy base once you control it. Also, move your production buildings up the map - don't be a nub like me and lose a constant stream of rallied tanks and marines to the enemies' wraith and BC forces.

Terran 10 can also be hard - easiest strat is probably to tank and turret up the middle of the map between the two enemy bases, take the far right expansion and mass BCs to clean out red, then go for the ion cannon.

The zerg campaign was much harder for me than the terran one... I had to restart zerg 4 several times because the early drops kept destroying me before I could get mutas up; build massive numbers of spines to secure your base, but once you have mutas, it gets much easier.

Zerg 9 was quite brutal, you really have to balance your unit mix, and getting scourge against the carriers really helps. Also, try to clean out at least the midrange bases (beneath the cannon ridges) before mining the crystal, as otherwise the protoss attack waves are basically unstoppable.

For zerg 10, you can just take the bottom bases mass up about a hundred cracklings, clean out everything in front of the temple then macro up another wave of cracklings to destroy the actual temple. Actually, mass cracklings are pretty effective on zerg 7 as well, since all the enemy has is a couple of brood lords and ultras.

Zerg 8: Lurkers. That is all. Well, large defensive groups of hydras can work too, but they get chewed up by the occasional reaver.

Overall, really awesome. The only beef I have is that sometimes, the maps had unbuildable expansions due to mineral placement or doodads (terran 8 comes to mind, you can't build a command center in the top left expansion due to mineral placement.

Can't wait for the protoss campaign! (And hopefully eventually the BW ones, if we're so lucky! Can't wait to see what the last mission of the zerg BW campaign will be like in SC2 - it was difficult enough before, it must be totally brutal with an SCII AI backing it up.)

I heard of the mod from Husky. I must say, the modders did a fine job recreating the Starcraft 1 campaigns. Now if only they let us know when we will expect the Protoss campaigns.

Speaking of which, will you reckon that they will remake the Starcraft 1 expansions aside from Brood War. I heard Insurrection and Resurrection are the rarest expansions (even though they were poorly received somewhat) and it would be nice to relive them a little bit.

I think the part in the brackets only applies to "protoss", which makes sense grammatically too, since otherwise it should have beed "when they come out"

In which case it is absolutely correct.

One small thing. Kerrigan in her infested form could not attack air units. Unless she used psionic storm.

Beside the original and broodwar there were a lot fanmade missions for broodwar. Most of them sucked but there were some true gems.
Some of them I could only complete by slowing down the gamespeed. I don't know if those are still available.

You mean the folder in which you have to put the downloadable mod file? That's just in Starcraft 2\Mods

Just make a new folder in your SC2 directory and name it Mods

it should definitely be there as it is a 3.4gb folder that contains half the contents of the game
you are looking in the wrong place if you can't find it

Any word on when the Protoss campaign will be released?

It's too bad that there isn't an actual nydus canal as part of the mod. Nydus network can't replicate the same instant transport of large armies that canals do

I suppose I could try to tweak it on my own. Seems like it should be simple.

They didn't give any date, though one of the guys mentionned 10 days ago that there was at least one month of work left.
So I wouldn't expect it before the end of June, and even then, no guarantee. They do this during their free time after all.

Does installing this mod in any way break some sort of Blizzard code of conduct? Seems they are pretty strict with what you can and can't do.

No. You are allowed to take Blizzard material to do a custom map for an other Blizzard game, as long as you don't gain any money from it.

Man the later missions are very difficult. I found myself editing the maps to get through them ><
Not to spoil it for anyone but holy hell. Some of the aspects are so brutal it takes a second attempt once you know what is coming for you.

On the other hand (You have 5 different fingers) the Overmind campaign [Remake of Zerg SC campaign] is relatively easy, even easier than the original since managing a swarm with 255 unit selection and multiple hatcherys on one hotkey changes the amount of things you can do at once or even casually.

But holy hell. Some of those Rebel Yell missions. Its like the UPS guy shows up, knocks on your door; You open up and he shouts Surprise! And punches you in the crotch.

I really like the effort you put in this OP, I do however have two minor points of constructive criticism.

1. Kerrigan (terran) form is completely useless and is more of a hassle than a benefit. The AI is so good that when she cloacks she gets scanned (or 'observed') immediatly making her die in seconds. It's really not fun that you have to babysit and guard her in the middle of your base so you don't let her get killed accidently. Especially in mission 8 she died a couple of times which made me lose a lot of time.

2. This is more optional, make supply depos able to burrow, its really annoying that you can't. (incomming nostalgia flame!)

Again thank you for your effort, best custom map by far!

I too am enjoying playing through these old missions with SC2 mechanics. Thanks so much for the maps.

I'd also like to state that I hate Zerg mission 8. They send a huge force with ONE dark templar to attack my top left base and before I can respond to it, the dt has run by all my units there (they were attacking the zealots I think) and caused me to lose... grrrrrrrr >_<

So I started playing through these but stopped after the third mission because i was growing nostalgic and I missed the sc1 cinematics. So I went back to my old copy of brood war and started playing the original campaign.

After getting increasingly frustrated at how I couldn't add all my barracks to the one control group and the different hotkeys, I gave up.

TL;DR: I can't play the sc1 campaign in sc2 due to lack of cinematics and I can't play the sc1 campaign because it's too frustrating to play starcraft without sc2 macro mechanics

I found the lack of cinematics a shame as well, but I will just watch the cinematics on youtube after having finished the relevant missions.

I can't WAIT for the Protoss campaign to come out. God I hope they do BW after that. After rebel yell and overmind I tried to go back and play brood war but these mods poisoned my mind. I couldn't seperate the games like I did before. All I could think about was how great it was to play the original campaigns with unlimited unit selection.

Oh how I wish I could go back. But instead I must wait patiently.

5 less hp, 4 range, and the zealots with 10 extra shields, and zerglings with their original attack speed. oh god the zerglings.

I love/hate this campaign at the same time, there's nothing like an AI that actually builds siege tanks and constantly sends marines and drops at you at the same time T_T

Yeah, that mission is one of the hardest. I was mindblown when I saw the IA making a drop while it attacked the entrance, that was totally unexpected.

true but doesnt stim double rate of fire for the marine in sc1 instead of 1.5 times like in sc2? Talk about scary with the tight grouping that sc2 does

The most important i think is the smart AI. Lings in SC1 was so stupid when you didn't controll them to surround.
I love this Mod btw, its also much harder than the original one i feel. Still pretty easy, but not "i'm gonna go make some coffee until my scvs gather 5000 minerals" kinda easy

The terran and zerg campaign are shockingly well made. What that I can't even. All people involved in the project - big thank you, amazing work. There are some minor bugs still, but I'm sure they'll be corrected, and it doesn't take from the value of the whole work. Hope to see the protoss campaign too, and even the Brood War campaigns some day. 5/5 This will help gamers from either world of starcraft to discover the other side.

Just played the first two missions, is amazing, the same voices and text, of SC1, they really made the effort to make it so SC1 but with the cool graphics of SC2.
Just got a little problem probable because this was made before the newest patches, at the end of the missions it seems like all bugged, but i can live with that.
Excelent maps.

You don't drag the mod file onto SC2, you drag the map you want to play. So if you want to play Terran mission 5, you drag that map file over your SC2 icon and it'll automatically launch.

If you read the site where you downloaded it, you would have noticed this:

"Artistic License"

(some notable differences from the original campaign)

Medics! There were no medics in the original campaign, but where's the fun in that? Your marines need 'em
Kerrigan has the snipe ability (along with the original ghost abilities) because it's just too cool
Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - you'll see
Difficulty level should be harder and actually keep you busy towards the end. Don't worry, I've tested it and I'm not that great. The final maps should give you a decent challenge though.

Christdaugherty has completed the first five missions of the protoss campaign. They are close to as difficult as the original, not like the first two campaigns but still awesome.

Really loved the first two remakes, will play episode 3 for sure, but I think I'll wait until all the missions are ready, otherwise I know I'll just be annoyed waiting for the rest when I'm halfway done

it works fine on a Mac; just right click the map file and "open with" starcraft II. Loading the first mission for each campaign allows to play through the whole thing -- or alternately, you can load any mission you want this way.

If it were up to me I'd keep it as vanilla SC as possible. Remake is nice and all, but then Blizzard can't offer to buy the modules off of the creator for profit because since it's more than just a HD remake now.

Except on my system Starcraft II is grayed out as an option to open. In the Starcraft Folder, only the map editor is available to open it. I don't know if this has to do with the settings in the editor, but I have never opened it before.

Hmm. Have you tried to put the option "all applications" when browsing for Starcraft II instead of just "recommended applications" ? It's effectively greyed out if you selected the latter.

That website has an Enslavers remake that I haven't seen posted yet: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/starcraft-campaign-enslavers-rem/. It has some flaws but more or less captures the feel of the original Enslavers.

Did anyone complete that Enslaves3b?... I tried for a day, 16 battlecruisers and 15 zealots is still not enough to attack: the torrasque prevents most ground attacks, and mass dark swarm makes ground units completely immune to most attacks...
I completed WoL in Brutal and Jones' remakes, and I tend to like high difficulty in single player, but that was really too much.

Yes they are. The author said he hoped to finish the last five maps by the end of the year.

That makes me sad to hear. I've been waiting on that campaign and hopeful future bw campaigns since May/June.

That long? :/
I've skipped downloading the first half of The Fall since I wanted to do them all at once... and although I can wait 2 months more I guess, by then I'll be completely occupied with Skyrim so :/

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

When I drag a map file onto the "SC2" application, a little red circle with a line through it (the universal symbol for anti- or cancel) appears below and the map file simply refuses to be dropped into Sc2. When I open the maps on their own, they simply open in editor.

Postponed to January because of personal issues. His cat died, and some other stuff happened, you can read it in the comments on the webpage.

To be more specific, we did quite a lot of work on the mod, including bug fixing. The next version of the mod should include comsat stations and nuclear silos - hopefully, we still have some issues with the IA not scanning properly.
The terran and zerg campaigns were also updated in the meantime, with an easy difficulty for mor casual players.

Note that when the protoss campaign is released, the levels should be very easy. A Hard difficulty will probably be added shortly after the release.

Ok nice. As an oldschool SC:BW player who made a switch to SC2, I'd really love to see the campaign at a much higher difficulty. I always thought it was a bit too easy.
