Although the -150 could also have been changed to a different number :\
Yes, it could. It could also be different for each region.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the calculations you are doing, but I don't believe you can get any information about the division modifiers by looking at the points of people who have been recently promoted. Promoted (or demoted) people always get spent bonus pool +73, or in the case of the beginning of season 2, everyone started at 0 points.

Hi Blizzard, I am currently #1 Masters in the world, 22 win streak, 14of which are Grandmasters, and Im favored vs Grandmasters top 30 to top 100. How come I am still not promoted. Thanks. Anyone else experiencing this?

To get promoted to Grandmaster, there has to be an open GM slot and you need to have the highest MMR moving average outside of the current GMs. Your points won't necessarily be an accurate indicator of your MMR. If you have the highest MMR moving average out of all the non-GM players and there's a slot open, you'll get promoted after you win your next game.

Yeah, still not promoting.

Right now, NA region GM league is full, GM league can't have more than 200 players, so you'll need to wait someone to drop.

what's up Excalibur? Love this thread!! (makes me look so smart in front of my friends as i school them bout the facts of the ladder)
But any ways onto my question... I'm in diamond (so i can't see my w/l ) so i am forced to use my opponents ladder rank as my best gauge of whether or not I'm improving my MMR (cause I'm always gonna be closish to 50% right?) But since diamond has 7 tiers how can I at all gauge the relative skill of my opponents against my own to see if I'm improving :-/ . Any Advice from THE excalibur would be most awesomely appreciated

Keep track of your adjusted points. If it's increasing your MMR is increasing most likely.

very good guide. would suggest to new players.. does get a bit confusing at points, though.

That took quite a bit of time but seriously it was worth it

Im sorry if this has been answered already, but i have noticed that my opponents seem to have a different skill level depending on what race i chose . For example my opponents when i play zerg are strongest and also highest up on ladder , protoss is sort of in the middle and when i play random they are a lot weaker. It also shows on their ladder ratings etc. Is this just a coincidence or intended since I perform better with certain races?

Coincidence.

great and informative post, good job.

huh, I don't get this. The MMR should get you to a tier where you will be winning 50%, but its not doing that for me, neither has it in the past. How many games does it usually take for the MMR to reach a treshold (if you are winning more or less 100%)?

That depends entirely on how inaccurate the initial placement was in the spectrum. If you're a GM player starting out in Plat, maybe about 30 games or so. If you're a GM player starting out in Bronze, maybe more than double that. It's also going to take more games if you've previously demonstrated that you belong at a certain MMR range via winning around 50%.

Oh, I thought it works faster. I'm a noob, I started before the ladder reset was winning about 70% in bronze, got placed after 1 placement match in bronze again, continuing to win about 70% and now i'm winning 100%, about 25 games in a row, waiting to be placed in silver, but I guess it takes longer...

Ok i had a weird problem after my recent promotion to diamond. In every game after my promotion that I played, I would be slightly favoured against all my opponents but they would all be in high diamond/low masters. I barely won and eventually that wore off but why was it doing that in the first place?
