Hello Anyone reading this post.

Well i hope this is the right sektion, took me 20 minutes to decide, lets hope =D
I am not a good player at the moment, because i play this game for fun.

Buuut i always wonder, i watch GSL and all those big turnermants and ladders and know alot of pro or semi pro names.
There are sometimes new plyers, expectly the "not korean" part is increasing.

What i really wonder is, how do you even take a step in the direction of a "competetive pro gamer"?

I always was wondering that.

Ofc i would have want to try that, because i am 14 and i ahve alot of time to waste(i play'd sc1 since i was 11 too so...)

i just really wonder how big this "difference" between a casual 3k master league player from .EU servers AND a competetive(not even korean) pro gamer is.

I really want to know baisicly, how do you do this, how do you train, hopw do you get THAT much better, and so on.

I hhighly doubt, nada or slayers boxer, or jinro for that matter falled from the heaven just as they are,and i also doubt they just kept watching replays.

maybe someone can share his/her thoughts on this topic?

regardz~

Do well in tournaments, maybe stream, top the ladder. Basically just play a ton and get your name out there, if you're good enough you'll be picked up by a team.
This is how most SC2 teams acquire players I think.
As for getting really good, just practice an ungodly amount. Being good at most things is much more about practice than theoretic knowledge or talent.

when you feel you can play better then the pros do. Thats when you know you have what it takes to compete

I'd say playing custom games with other high quality players, training and refining builds, discussing strategy or replays with other high level players. And at this early stage of the game's evolution of course just mass gaming on the ladder. Experience helps a lot, you always have an advantage if you've been in a situation before rather than having to make a decision on the fly.

that sounds p realistic.

But i ahve another short question, how do you actually "practice" on high standart niveau in sc2?

...and dont say multitask trainer, its a very nice custom but i dont like it because of the probe(who wants to scout for 21 minutes anyway seriously?)

Well, so the way to get better is playing alot?

Ok so far,but i played now over 350 matches, and i really dont feel like getting better at all, still bad macro, bad micro.

anything more you can suggest to a noob like me?

Play games, watch the replays of the games you lost, and identify what you did wrong. Then focus on what you did wrong until you can improve. The rule of thumb is macro, macro, macro, but if you cant figure out what you're doing wrong post a replay.

I would suggest laddering until you have a good understanding of the game, then get some friends who are about your skill level if not better and play custom games with them to practice along with laddering.

Once you have some confidence enter into some open tournaments the more you enter the better you'll get after winning a few and/or getting recognized it won't be to hard to be semi-pro and again just keep working hard if you work hard you can be really good.

Getting a practice partner from the practice partner thread or taking part in the Adopt a Noob program will greatly improve your play..

Use the search bar and you will find them

If your sitting at 3000 masters you definitely have the skill to play competitively. Its just putting the time in and taking it serious another very huge thing is having a team to talk to or just really good practice partners

When you feel you can walk straight into a tournament and knock out some known players that is when the heads turn. For example, when Silver played in IEM not one person knew him. But when he knocked out IdrA everyone knew who he was

350 matches sounds like a casual gamer

You could just investigate yourself and copy what other pros obviously did.
Many european pro gamers take part or took part in the myriad small tournaments, like Go4SC2 Cup, Competo Cup, Zotac Cup, Craft Cup etc.
(Most have price pools around 50-100 Euro
They are mostly weekly and monthly.

I simply took some previous knowledge, investigated and found all these.
Or more precise, I knew pros participate. I looked on Liquipedia, took a newer player not yet successful player(first Goody, but he is mainly known for laddering and using mech 100%) then Socke.
That took me less time than writing this post.

In general, try to win these tournaments, when you lose, find out why and then get better until you can win. Then win.
If you need practice partners, look around in the practice partner thread, there is also a study group thread on teamliquid I think(?).
Maybe try to get lucky and ask a clan with players you know. Use Liquipedia again, I would say MTw for example. half the players are german and its Dimagas clan and was DeMusliMs clan.

That should be enough help to get started. If you cannot take care of the rest, then you´re not giving it enough effort.

I wish you good luck & have fun
If nobody hates you, you´re doing something wrong. However someone hating you doesn´t make you right
