I'm guessing most such people don't cast and use youtube popularity as their main source of income, which would explain why he does that?
being passive aggressive is just being an asshat, no other way to put it.
Would you rather he start BMing and trolling instead? Since using insults is obviously a much better way to further the discussion = /.Being 'aggressive' (i.e confrontational) is obviously not the issue here, making posts that are either complete spam or unnecessarily filled with insults are.
Doesn't change the fact that you pump out mediocre songs that are seriously lacking in creativity, rhythm, or just plain catchyness
This has nothing to do with the rest of the argument --- but if critiquing his musical talent is what your going for, then maybe You should make something better no? Seeing as how his efforts are so terrible.
First off, it's begging and it's annoying - no matter who does it. If people feel like doing it, they will. There's a reason ads are paid. Do you really think I give a rat's ass whether or not some youtube videos or whatnot are his only source of income? That ship has sailed, it's a choice he undertook and he has to live with its consequences, never mind if the content in question is worth a dime or not.
Second, trolling and being passive aggressive aren't the only two options. He went on a tangent to bash idra(which I don't give a flying fuck about anyway), disregarding any previous claims without constructing a proper response. FIY that's just what trolling is all about.
Third, nice fallacy, which is completely irrelevant to the argument at hand. In my opinion his content is trashy, his commentary is sub-par at best and yet some people act like this guy should be idolatrized and any criticism leveled against him is to be ignored as he "brought alot of exposure to SC2". I reckon that's their prerogative, but don't expect everyone to feel the same way you do or that people that do not approve of his content should forever be silent.
If you don't like his videos or "begging" then don't watch his videos. Of course it is embarrassing and painful for everyone when people try to idolize others but I really don't see people doing that. If you don't approve of his content then just don't watch it. I don't go rant about Justin Bieber just because I don't like his music. It's not like he's doing anything harmful or immoral so if you don't like it, ignore it. And sorry for the double post. I'm not sure how to include two quotes in a post.
He has to at least watch it once in order to approve or disapprove of it. The fact he asks people to subscribe and favorite it before and after is baffling. I don't think you understand the point he's trying to make.

Its pretty obvious why someone would have a weighted view of you. You could obviously convince people you care, because frankly you derive benefit from the community so of course you care. Doesn't change the fact that you pump out mediocre songs that are seriously lacking in creativity, rhythm, or just plain catchyness. Repeating a chorus that has reference to sc in a subdued manner can easily be seen as a simplistic, but an effective way of "cashing in" on the scene nonetheless.
I see several other people in this community that make a song, post it and leave it at that. They don't ask to be favourited, subscribed to, or anything of the sort. People enjoy the game and the community so they make something from it, but finding a way to justify making a buck under the guise of doing it all for the community is just a salesman way of saying thanks guys for letting me make a living off of you. If people support you, that's great, do your thing, but being passive aggressive is just being an asshat, no other way to put it.
I agree about being passive agressive, but should he let Idra slander him? I mean some random dude on a forum, ok, he should just ignore that, but Idra is a popular, well known member of the community, and people attach value to his opinion. In this case, people who don't like husky's casts, read Idra's post and think Idra is right and they will hate husky for something that (I think) is not even true.
It's such a shame that husky is being hated on for doing the same things he has always done, but now he gets paid for them. Getting paid does not mean you don't care anymore.
EDIT: People say Husky hates on Idra in his casts, which wasn't true back when I still watched husky, but if it is now, Husky should quit it, that's just disrespectful. Even if it is only mentioning Idra's rep, it doesn't add anything to the cast.
Sometimes its better to take the high road and not say anything at all. It's obvious some people try to provoke a response. Why bother giving them the attention they want? This goes for anyone. Anyone who blindly follows a guy like Greg is nothing more than a sheep and that's fine. It's their problem, not yours. The guy makes a lot of bold statements and he's been known to be wrong in the past.
Besides that, I don't know why some of you guys keep saying it's Husky's song. Yes, he did help with the production and creative; however, Kurt writes the songs.
Went to bed at page 9, woke up at page 17. Oh dear the drama times. I had a good laugh through a lot of it but that's all I'll say on the matter.
On the actual video though, I really thought it was funny! Not up to Banelings-level of funny, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. I think Husky is a good caster (a GREAT one when dual-casting with more intellectual casters like Day[9]) but I think his real place in the coming years is going to be as more of a Starcraft 2 Personality. Like switching his focus from 85% casting 15% funny things to maybe 50/50 both ways.
Also, a side note: by "intellectual casters" I just mean casters like Day[9] who are more analytical than goofy. Think Artosis compared to Tasteless. I'm definitely not trying to call Husky dumb or anything so I hope noone takes it that way.

Watch the commentaries, in which there is very little (or no) time spent asking for subscriptions. Skip the music videos and announcement videos. Simple, If you're not interested in the casts, too bad. You don't get to complain about someone who you don't watch except for a couple of videos which he barely made himself.

He has done this for a hundred other threads, with a thousand other people who couldn't think before they speak. It is astonishing that it took this long for him to get passive-aggressive, let alone just plain agressive. Honestly, I don't really watch the man's videos the whole way through any more. But idra's post was just completely fucking out of line. You cannot expect him to not defend himself from that. He's not Buddha.
Besides that, I don't know why some of you guys keep saying it's Husky's song. Yes, he did help with the production and creative; however, Kurt writes the songs.
No one's saying it's Husky's song. A lot of people (on TL) subscribed to Kurt.

Day9 is pretty goofy They really have much of the same ratio of analysis/goofing off, when you ignore the stereotype. Day9 probably has better analysis (I don't play the game so I can't really judge and don't really care), and it's debatable which one is more entertaining.

I was commenting solely on the music videos; not his casts. That's a whole different can of beans that I rather not go into seeing as this is a thread about the music video. As for the bold. I could have sworn I said something pretty similar in the post you quoted; although, you did twist the words. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on something they've watched. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure I mentioned this had more to do with Kurt than Husky? Jesus man.

Out of line? When was Greg ever in line on the forums? Something tells me you don't know Greg all too well. There's a good reason why he was temp banned so many times.

Actually I see a lot of people are making that mistake in this thread.

Can we refrain from talking about the commentaries altogether please. Like I said previously, my comments were based on the music videos. Nothing more; nothing less.
Who gives a shit if Husky's motives are pure as the driven snow? Do you refuse to watch GSL because Gretech does it to make money? I don't think Gretech's CEO "Loves the community" or whatever the fuck people are complaining about. Its like watching a really good movie and then coming on some movie forum and trashing it because the movie company made it to make money. No shit they did it to make money, if they didn't make money they wouldn't keep making them.
Edit-
Love the video Husky (its a little repetitive though) keep making more of them if for no other reason to piss off all your haters.
After seing this thread had already 17 pages, I investigated, and that was a good thing :D Nearly missed another idra maturity show, I would have hated myself for that :D So much drama because a guy made a video \o/
This is of course exaggerated, but I'm still a little bit disappointed.
LOL it's actually funny you present 4 videos as 'evidence' that he's turned away from the core of the game. Why don't you actually take a count of how many VODs he's done in the past ~2 months against these humour vids?

I'm pretty sure he was responding to me, don't worry. I wasn't even trying to touch your post, I was just clarifying what I said in my own.

I am finding the homosexual/ backstreet boy vibe emanating from this video somewhat confusing. There is some random shirtless guy acting like an scv.
Ive introduced a several of the gentiles to sc2. I feel this will undo all my hard work.
Why is it confusing?
It's obviously a joke, and it's funny.
Its hard to get your mainstream friends into the SC scene (which is charmingly nerdy) if they are put off by some homo stuff. I liked the video, but im just afraid i wont be able to share SC with rl friends
Maybe if your friends are put off by 'homo stuff' you need new friends.
This is not funny in the slightest. Furthermore, I am somewhat unhappy with Husky's relationship with the community... He doesn't care about them. He simply wants views, subs, and favorites.

Thats entirely a matter of your thoughts and opinion which is entirely NOT based on fact. Have you even seen his Facebook? He does basicly everything for the fans.
