Idra is a great player but he really doesnt need Husky to be known to rage.
Even in the gsl his oppentents tell him to manner up. And i might be very mistaken here but I dont think the korean pro's are the subscribers of husky.
I like Idra cause he plays well and he is clearly a smart guy. That he rages or is bm i just try to ignore.
|
A lot of people at university, even those who i didn't think played computer games, are aware of idra solely and solely because of Husky and HD.
|
haha well casters are going to cast the games where idra rages, it's guaranteed hits man.
props to husky's professional response after being hated on. hater's gonna hate, don't worry about them. Husky's doing a fine job.
One thing that bugs me however is that husky isn't really putting in much effort to better his casting/game understanding. He's fortunate to have the attention of the casual sc2 crowd but he's not giving them the full experience of watching a sc2 game.

Is this video an attempt to make the community turn gay?
Despite the fact that I think it's great to support the community I think that Husky doesn't know aynthing about this game. His casts suck if you're anywhere near decent and I just don't see the reason why he got so famous. Neither he's funny nor he knows what he's talking about (unlike Psystarcraft, a little sohutout to my fav youtube caster). He always depictured IdrA as the little rager which is the main reason why so many people hate on him now (I think he's great).
I also very dislike his music videos. Even if it is "only" for video games they don't have to be _so_ bad. These are my personal opinions and most people are most likely gonna disagree with me but I don't care.

if the tlaf guy hadnt been desperate to throw money at the community, and husky hadnt gotten in between those 2, he would be a nothing right now. good for him for 'making it' but dont act like anything about the whole thing is for the good of the community. One of the main reason why you have so many fans, that people love or hate you IdrA - is thanks to people like Husky who cast your games and thus you get more popular. Husky has casted a lot of games where you play and that helps you and EG because you get free advertising and name recognition. So if you want to talk about money - well - start by thanking Husky in making you more well-known, famous and increasing your value. lol ok Idra has Husky to thank for his popularity? Of course not only. The main reason for IdrAs popularity is because he is an awesome StarCraft player. But... thanks to Husky he gets more well-known to the community. I know a lot of Starcraft fans who didn't know about IdrA at all but know they know him thanks to casters like Husky. If you look at it at a bigger scale it's pretty good for your name/brand to be shown to 300 000+ viewers constantly. It is quite obvious to anyone that Husky hates Idra for whatever reason. Idra can go on winning games after games, but the moment he loses, Bam! Husky is there with the replay and a 10 minutes discussion of berating Idra for BMing. There is also a video where he is running Idra's lost game in some background as well. So I'm not surprised that Husky fanboys are here to attack Idra. Oh well.
I'm not actually so sure that this is sooo bad for IdrA. You get a lot of attention and people like his style and some kind of like the "IdrA rage". I know a lot of people who are fans of IdrA (Not Anti-fans) who started by watching some of Huskys replays with him and then started searching more and more. They get more into the community and the eSport side of SC2 and then go on wathcing GSL etc.
Hey, my girlfriend even started liking IdrA after she watched some games casted by Husky (& HD).

Being passive aggressive is just a way to make you come off as a dick except for the few blind followers who view it as "professionalism". Its pretty obvious why someone would have a weighted view of you. You could obviously convince people you care, because frankly you derive benefit from the community so of course you care. Doesn't change the fact that you pump out mediocre songs that are seriously lacking in creativity, rhythm, or just plain catchyness. Repeating a chorus that has reference to sc in a subdued manner can easily be seen as a simplistic, but an effective way of "cashing in" on the scene nonetheless.
I see several other people in this community that make a song, post it and leave it at that. They don't ask to be favourited, subscribed to, or anything of the sort. People enjoy the game and the community so they make something from it, but finding a way to justify making a buck under the guise of doing it all for the community is just a salesman way of saying thanks guys for letting me make a living off of you. If people support you, that's great, do your thing, but being passive aggressive is just being an asshat, no other way to put it.

I think everyones missing the main point here...
WTF IS THAT FACIAL HAIR?!
srsly..
But on a real note, I quite liked it, maybe wasn't as catchy as the other song. And it did feel like it was just missing something... but overall was fairly decent followup

Just like to say that if my brother hadn't sent me links to Husky's channel and liquipedia I probably would have just played SC2 every once and a while like any other game instead of really getting into it. Also, I don't get how people don't realize that the homo-eroticism is a joke. Whenever I make homo-erotic jokes there is always one or two retards who think I'm gay.

and i thought husky(and some others well known caster) caught the right chance to make money from sc2 is a well known fact?? good for community or not - the fact that husky is making good money from his sc2 works is undeniable.
is it a good or bad thing? i dont know lol and why would i care?? if he get a good life by using sc2, good for him. but please stop thinking he is some saint that do all these for the sc2 community SOLELY because he loves sc2.
edit: dint like this video as i did to the bling song is pretty 'main stream' to me and the lyric/mv is not as good as the bling song. it actually gave me a feeling that husky is trying to make it 'the money' this time.

I don't agree with you because he doesn't ask for your money! he gets his money because people see his stuff not because people pay to see his stuff..
For instance HuK asks for donations on his stream! Is he a asshat?
People on this site get all of this for free! why can't he make some money because some people like it and support him? it's not PPV ..

I agree about being passive agressive, but should he let Idra slander him? I mean some random dude on a forum, ok, he should just ignore that, but Idra is a popular, well known member of the community, and people attach value to his opinion. In this case, people who don't like husky's casts, read Idra's post and think Idra is right and they will hate husky for something that (I think) is not even true.
It's such a shame that husky is being hated on for doing the same things he has always done, but now he gets paid for them. Getting paid does not mean you don't care anymore.
EDIT: People say Husky hates on Idra in his casts, which wasn't true back when I still watched husky, but if it is now, Husky should quit it, that's just disrespectful. Even if it is only mentioning Idra's rep, it doesn't add anything to the cast.

I'm guessing most such people don't cast and use youtube popularity as their main source of income, which would explain why he does that?
being passive aggressive is just being an asshat, no other way to put it.
Would you rather he start BMing and trolling instead? Since using insults is obviously a much better way to further the discussion = /.Being 'aggressive' (i.e confrontational) is obviously not the issue here, making posts that are either complete spam or unnecessarily filled with insults are.
Doesn't change the fact that you pump out mediocre songs that are seriously lacking in creativity, rhythm, or just plain catchyness
This has nothing to do with the rest of the argument --- but if critiquing his musical talent is what your going for, then maybe You should make something better no? Seeing as how his efforts are so terrible.

I think it's rather sad that the discussion here got so out of topic. Anyhow...
I agree with some people posting previously in this thread, if this was the "first" (ie. before banelings) video people would appreciate it a lot more. The production value is really high, perhaps not as high as last time with all the dancers and different settings but still way above the average for any community parody video.
Regarding the lyrics; I think they are actually good. I know a lot of people posting here would have liked "more" from the lyrics but I think it's placed on an appropriate level. Anyone who has any experience with SC at all will understand them and therefore they reach out to the big mass of people, something I find Husky really good at doing.
Keep them coming!

People have differing opinions, just because your condescending opinion may not like something doesn't mean it's true for everyone else who heard the song.

Also, music is subjective, and so is talent. If you cant be happy on behalf of someone elses success then maybe you should go back to kindergarten and learn that lesson
