Just look at the EG tournament being showed on G4.com. I hate the TV channel, but is sure as hell is a start...
How is husky a stepping stone from the scene into the mainstream society when he does not cover esports events? If any caster would be this stepping stone it would have to be casters like jp, wheat, day9, tastetosis for all their coverage they do for huge esport events like dreamhack/gsl/iem/mlg. Dan even brings you the prelims + interviews for gsl prelims he is a god in the esports community atm.
Not meaning for this to be an arguement over the best casters but you are confused to which people are advancing esports.
Also saying husky is the reason for the EG cup being shown on g4.com is post hoc ergo proctor hoc logical fallacy at best. I think scion said it best, give credit to where credit is due.

People who have never watched SC2 don't care about random tournaments. Husky is a good introduction to the game, thats all i'm saying. After someone watches husky, then they'll go watch day 9, gsl, etc.
Also I never said he was solely responsible for the EG tournament getting on G4. Its a start for getting into the mainstream. Im pretty sure only people who care about SC2 would watch that tournament on g4.
My point is that Husky brings in more new SC2 fans to watch tournaments like the EG masters cup

Do you think G4 would want to support something a reasonable amount, as they have, if those kind of numbers weren't there? A few thousand youtube views for Artosis, or a few thousand stream views for Day9 don't match that. I'm not talking quality, I'm talking quantity. And as proven by McDonalds and WalMart, quantity is what makes money.

People are overstating his importance to SC2. He's achieved a lot becoming a youtube presence considering how many young people are out there vying for that stage thinking it will lead to bigger thing. The guy has had almost nothing to do with the competitive side of the game since beta. His successful transition from guy who badly casts SC2 to youtube sensation is noteworthy but give it a rest about the fate of SC2's popularity being on his shoulders

#1 thats your opinion on his casting method. Not everyone else's. #2 Its definitely not on his shoulders. My theory is that people like day 9 will become more popular as a result of an influx of new SC2 fans from Husky.
The day 9 daily is extremely popular among people who play Starcraft. Husky brings people into Starcraft. Everyone has there role to play

So many idiots in this thread.
These sc2 music videos actually are great benefit to the Starcraft community. It ingrains starcraft into the gaming culture particularly amongst casuals. It gives people a reason to talk about starcraft in other gaming communities.
HD and Husky brings heaps of new fans into Starcraft (I have at least 5 RL friends that got into Starcraft because of their youtube videos). If you do not like their videos then fine, but STFU and stop slandering them.
Keep up the good work Husky!
Edit: tbh I think the reason people do this is to try and look cool and elitist. Like I'm from the SC1 days so I'm more hardcore and SC2 people are noobs.

@Flamers He is doing everything he can to bring SC2 to the masses everytimes there is a poll he makes a appeal to people to support SC2 and just look at the comments on any poll, most people are sent by him. Also, his commentaries are by far most entertaining MUCH better than Artosis and Tasteless who are, boring and drab when compared to him.
PS: Didn't notice the gay part as I was too busy laughing at the song. + Show Spoiler + PPS: Hmmm.... saw it again I think the gay part is where he tears his shirt. This video would be so much better and popular if the shirt tearing scene was done by Baneling Girls.

You have to get out of the professional, competitive microcosmos that is TL and take a look at all the rest.
Several friends of mine that play SC2 have never heard of TLO or IdrA or Fruitdealer, they don't know what the GSL is or why it's so awesome that Boxer and Nada play SC2 now. They do however know Husky, and by watching his videos, some have already discovered that there's more to the scene, be it by comments on youtube or references in his videos / songs.
Some time ago one of them messaged me something along the lines of "dude, there's this cool SC site called Team Liquid, did you know that?" and he stumbled upon it via a Husky video on Youtube.
I'm not saying he's single-handedly responsible for SC2's popularity for a certain target audience, but he's doing a good job at introducing people to the scene via means that others don't use.

if comapnies want to get into esports they will look at the numbers of other esport companies viewership not a user on youtube. i.e. MLG/GomTV.
you people arnt understanding that husky does not run an esport channel either. he is not constantly promoting esports in any way as of recently.
Im sure GomTV's 750,000 live audience for SlayerSBoxerS first sc2 game is more impressive than 300,000 subs who may or may not watch husky on a daily basis.
youtube is not the end all be all of esports nor the beginning or end.

It's something called "social skills". Sometimes you should simply refrain yourself from saying what you really think in order to avoid more drama than necessary. Husky probably would have not said anything if it were anyone other than IdrA. But when it's someone 'prominent' in the community like IdrA stirs up a drama/rumor about Husky, even somebody like him doesn't appreciate the act and had to say something to defend himself.
Anyways, awesome video, and I lol'd at TB's comment about it trolling your average "homophobic gamers". Do more stuff with Kurt!

Are you serious? Social skills does not involve talking down to people while getting in a personal comment or two. At least with someone who isn't self obsessed with what people think have nothing to hide and are a lot easier to talk to. People who always seem to have a hidden agenda are just hard to get along with.
To be honest I'll stop posting. After reading over my other posts I'm just coming across as the guy hating on someone popular to get attention. I don't dislike Husky I just don't like the way he handled that situation.
