Now idra... Do you honestly think husky is making multi millions right now.. Hes making a living off what he loves to do. Good for him. He lives in a small dinky apartment in LA, and lives off the casts. I hardly call that rich. Its a good income, no doubt about that. But rich. Thats way out there... Also you would be completely inept to not realize that without YouTube, the massive influx of interest in SC2/ESPorts community would not exist today... You can't watch SC2 on TV. However, you can go on the front page of YouTube and see SC2 casts on a consistent basis... Don't argue for the sake of arguing Idra. Give credit where credit is due... I know your focus is in Korea. But the YouTube VOD casters outside of Korea are whats making ESports grow globally. Id like you to give me one piece of evidence outside of YouTube that said otherwise... Oh and good news. More popularity = more business interest = higher overall prize pools around the world... Everybody plays their part in this industry. Stick to gaming idra. Your fun to watch, and you actually have a leg to stand on when you douche on bad players. However, you've never casted anything other then those 'sponsor lessons'. And most likely know nothing about that aspect of the industry. therefore, your argument has no backbone. I can imply that from simple common sense, doesn't take a progamer to figure that out. With all that said. Good luck in GSL4.

(P.s. I also don't think any Sc2 song will bring in fans to sc2 that aren't already sc2 fans.)

Anyhow while I SERIOUSLY dislike Husky's commentaries, I can't bash the man. He gives a couple hundred thousand people most of whom wouldn't ordinarily give a damn about Starcraft or Esports a gateway into progaming. His commentary should not be a basis of controversy. Is he the best? Of course not. Is he the worst? Far from it. As far as how the selection for the TLAF guys went, I'd imagine they saw some games, looked around, and found HD and Husky had the most subs. They asked them to host a tournament, they got sick advertising, and HD and Husky became even more famous. (And got to do the thing they love: cast more Starcraft.)

If husky wasent around there would still be 300k+ people who want to watch SC2 casts, it just so hapens he was able to get that many subs. In addition the majority of his casts are all ladder based. Rarely does he cover any esport event and then sticks the vods on his youtube page. Husky is the halo equiv of the weekly top 10 kills. This doesent bring people to MLG it just gives existing fans something they find entertaining to watch.

Whether people like it or not, care or don't care, their will be those who are curious and check out the game. Thus, a win for ESports in my book. Wouldn't it make more sense then to try to put the promotion effort into a great cast of an epic finals (if we get one)? See the thing that I think people are arguing is that the songs are for fans... At least that's why I make mine. The people that have made starcraft songs are most likely the same as me.. Hmmm.. I make music, I play this game, people might like a song about it. So we do it.. I'm only speaking of the ones of high quality like Husky's have been. But I think people are fooling themselves to believe a song about this game with a video like that will get any gamer to pick it up. Truth is PC gamers already know about Starcraft 2... It's not a secret it's won countless awards and had plenty of promotion. The songs are for fans. The casts are what can get people to play. I know because that's why I started playing. If I heard any of the starcraft songs, including mine, before I played the game I would have thought they were retarded. Let the people make the music just don't argue about whether it helps or hurts.. It doesn't do either, it's just for fun for people that will enjoy it.

I dont understand how husky is this huge gateway into e-sports. People who are subscribed to husky also subscribe to other SC2 casts. If husky didn't exist, other youtubers wouldn't get many more subs.

If Husky gets on the YouTube front page on a daily basis. GAMERS are bound to be attracted to StarCraft. People already like gaming, they just need to check out a game or two (of SC) to get hooked.

So that's what Husky does. He turns Starcraft players into Starcraft fans.
