One of the main reason why you have so many fans, that people love or hate you IdrA - is thanks to people like Husky who cast your games and thus you get more popular.
Husky has casted a lot of games where you play and that helps you and EG because you get free advertising and name recognition. So if you want to talk about money - well - start by thanking Husky in making you more well-known, famous and increasing your value.

haha I find this very funny!
Because it proves how the pop / boys bands are so rubish haha anyone with a "OK" voice and some lirics backed up by some super standart tune can make music.. Not real artists.. And i think they made fun of it and the ultra gayness of the movie also makes it funny eheh and the lyrics are also funny
PS: this shit is just like all the KPOP songs.. whenever i hear them on any stream it's always sound off or stream off...
how can anyone listen to some random KPOP rubish when you don't understand it, 2nd is very childish, comercial, the tunes are standart.. they are like new kids on the block, spice girls, nsync, etc... they simply do what's been done before all over the world ..
KPOP = girls/boys bands in korean! don't like them when i understand them and sure hell won't like them when i don't..

How is husky a stepping stone from the scene into the mainstream society when he does not cover esports events? If any caster would be this stepping stone it would have to be casters like jp, wheat, day9, tastetosis for all their coverage they do for huge esport events like dreamhack/gsl/iem/mlg. Dan even brings you the prelims + interviews for gsl prelims he is a god in the esports community atm. Not meaning for this to be an arguement over the best casters but you are confused to which people are advancing esports. Also saying husky is the reason for the EG cup being shown on g4.com is post hoc ergo proctor hoc logical fallacy at best. I think scion said it best, give credit to where credit is due. You're making connections and getting slightly confused. Look at it this way. 356,062, as of now, people are subscribed to Husky, regularly getting their dose of esports. Do you think G4 would want to support something a reasonable amount, as they have, if those kind of numbers weren't there? A few thousand youtube views for Artosis, or a few thousand stream views for Day9 don't match that. I'm not talking quality, I'm talking quantity. And as proven by McDonalds and WalMart, quantity is what makes money. if comapnies want to get into esports they will look at the numbers of other esport companies viewership not a user on youtube. i.e. MLG/GomTV. you people arnt understanding that husky does not run an esport channel either. he is not constantly promoting esports in any way as of recently. Im sure GomTV's 750,000 live audience for SlayerSBoxerS first sc2 game is more impressive than 300,000 subs who may or may not watch husky on a daily basis. youtube is not the end all be all of esports nor the beginning or end. Just on a quick note... You do realize your talking about Korea right. Were talking global. Not Korea. Korea already has ESports in its culture... The rest if the world does not even come close, but is growing.
okay yeah i agree. that does not refute my point at all acctualy that only proves my point more.

This is thread is too funny. Great concept, excellent production values.

its a good effort, i thought it was funny because its got a nice sense of irony too it, not everything needs to be better than the one before it, its impossible unless your blizzard and takes 10 years
and im sure kurt is fine with it being labeled under husky's name, hes getting alot of recognition in a new community now because of the videos he is doing with husky. it works really well in both ways. it has the husky stamp and the productions of someone decent at making music i think its a pretty solid relationship and they should keep it up!
i love what he is doing for the community, whether hes doing it for riches or not. that shouldn't even matter, because hes helping it grow, and that's the fucking point.

Well done, very enjoyable song. Oh, and I wouldn't like to get in the middle of this, but IdrA: I'd say being creative and funny is a talent -- regardless of how much money you make.

Things like this is what grew esports in Korea.
Korean commentators are not overly analytical about the games, they are very much like in Husky's style. That is what makes appealing to Koreans, that's why majority of Koreans still watch OGN/MBC over newer game SC2. The commentators even used to have a show that could be described as reality tv drama where they talk about esports and events. When e-sports becomes appealing to people who does not actually play the game in the west, that is when we can say esports has truly became as big of success as it has in Korea.
What husky has done has contributed to exposing SC2 to the mainstream audience, and that is only good thing for esports.

This thread was hilarious. :D
Thanks for the song Husky. Made me laugh.

I didn't really enjoy this video. I thought the banelings video was ok- but I did appreciate the effort and production values that went into both videos, however.
Husky, along with HD, are what introduced me to SC2- I've bought season tickets to every season of GSL, and lurk a lot on TL and started watching Day 9 Dailies due to them. I imagine I'm not alone- I, personally, applaud the enthusiasm and effort you put into promoting SC2, Husky.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems, personally, that Husky goes out of his way to only cast games that Idra loses these days. And he is one of the main reasons that the reputation Idra has of being the worst rager in all of SC2 has persisted(Note, he's not. Even Orb is worse. But not saying GG doesn't make you the most ragey playing in all of esports >_>).
Not to mention Idra would have been just as popular without Husky. He's kinda in the GSL and all you know.
That all said, I love husky(Though I don't like watching his casts anymore), and hope he keeps up the good work ^^
|
It's still amazing to see some people complain over free content, it's not like you lose or gain anything depending on what kind of movies husky is making lol
that being said I think your baneling video was better but this was good aswell please keep them coming!
|
I enjoyed the later part of the video just because it was so funny watching the guy switch shirts that he never closed. Really funny and random!
One thing we will never know is the effect of Husky and HD's work on youtube on the SC2 scene as a whole, and especially how their viewership increased Teamliquid's web traffic. I mean it would be hard to find the data but I know for sure that they had an effect. If you took them out of the picture there would be a noticeable amount of people who wouldn't have watched the GSL, kept up with Teamliquid, and just in general the starcraft scene. Husky keep plugging TL and TL just support him because I mean if you can support IdrA in his rage and how it actually inforces some negative stereotype about gamers, then you should be able to support this dude. So I would say I would thank Husky and HD just a little bit for not just IdrAs popularity but many aspects of the starcraft 2 world.
You can say it was minimal, however many will argue that it was a lot. However, just the fact that the influence is notable is enough to give props to them despite people's accusations of money whoring. Thanks again husky

Hmm I think I jost lost my respect for Idra. You can say what you want about Husky, but saying he doesn't care about the community is simply ridiculous and everybody knows it.

Of course not only. The main reason for IdrAs popularity is because he is an awesome StarCraft player.
But... thanks to Husky he gets more well-known to the community. I know a lot of Starcraft fans who didn't know about IdrA at all but know they know him thanks to casters like Husky. If you look at it at a bigger scale it's pretty good for your name/brand to be shown to 300 000+ viewers constantly.

I'm so gonna watch this video with my friends and we can all laugh how... manly this video is
I don't get people complaining that this video is too... manly. I bet they had ton of fun making it. They are dancing and singing on the beach with those kinda outfits middle of the day, how can some1 think this video is not parody?

It is quite obvious to anyone that Husky hates Idra for whatever reason. Idra can go on winning games after games, but the moment he loses, Bam! Husky is there with the replay and a 10 minutes discussion of berating Idra for BMing. There is also a video where he is running Idra's lost game in some background as well.
So I'm not surprised that Husky fanboys are here to attack Idra. Oh well.
