hey man; ive been having these weird spikes as well. went from 2350-> 2050 then back 2350 then now ~2300. the problem is that one wrong decision as a zerg player can mean a loss.
that + ladder seems to be a cesspool of cheese vs Z right now. every t tries to mass marines and every P will do some cheesy 1 base or 2 base all in (timing attack lol). my sugestion would be to just chill and play some customs with some friends. find some practice partners because right now ladder is just pure frustration for zerg players. the 2300-2700 bracket seems to be filled with the most ridiculous cheesers right now lol.

Play some campaign on harder difficulty or some custom or team games for a while, totally is relaxing, quit sc for a few days, and make sure not to stop for a few months otherwise you will lose all your skills, just a few days of custom or team would be nice

Playing when your alert, awake, eager, and calm is really important. Its very easy to "lose your head" if your on a losing streak, where you overreact or under react. I don't know enough about people to say what makes people feel confidence and calmness but those two criteria really help in making good decisions and as we know good decisions = doing well. I can say for me a quick shower, a good 's night rest, after a good work out, watching a good replay, all make me feel more relaxed and hence I'm eager to play a good game win or lose.
this is true, i realised when i was losing alot i kept on playing trying to recover some wins but instead i just played worse and lost more.

Is it worth $20 to get your confidence back, and step up your game?
That's why they have coaches. If you can't figure out why in the hell you keep losing, its time to get an outside opinion.
Those guys charge because they can.

do you have any old replays? it honestly sounds like you cheesed the hell out of games to get where you were and that now you cant cheese as well anymore
|
Best suggestion would be to take a break. You're probably playing a lot worse because you keep losing. Once you get that bad taste out of your mouth you'll be playing at your level again.
|
If you got there once, you can get there again. Its just a matter of time.
All you can do until the time comes is focus on your game play and focus on keeping your mind clear of doubt.
|
Someone already suggested doing single player, so I'm posting to second that. During a similar period I took a few days to check on whether I was doing the basics. Watch your own games, look for holes in your play. Watch streams. Losing streaks are great times to self-reflect.
Remember that slumps like these don't last forever.

When I go on a losing streak I always go back to basic, for a few games. Trying to play so solid I can, no fancy stuff. Just simple macor/micro. Even if I lose, it feels that if I had restarted and can work my way up again
Try it.

Play to improve instead of playing to win would be my advice.

Yea I agree. How can you lose 600 pts if you have a solid macro that got you to 2600?
|
Play some random 2vs2 as random to regain confidence. But NEVER play 2vs2 and 1vs1 on the same day. It messes with your head. I blame it on 2vs2 not being competitive, you play for fun.
|
If you are on tilt, just stop playing and take a break. Otherwise, you'll just end up being more on tilt, and you're probably on crazy tilt losing 600 pts.
|
I know losing can feel hard sometimes. And for someone like me who is very competitive and sometimes can not take losing very well. What I do is just exit the game.
After I lose to someone who does stupid shit, and I feel like they don't deserve to win. I just close the game. Cool off for a while (could be a couple hours or a full day, depending on what happens the rest of the day)
I just try to relax myself. Do something else for a while; it doesn't even have to be something SC2-related.
Then when I'm calm, I go back, try to watch replays of my losses, see which decisions I did were wrong.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say despite the losing streak I believe Limenade would 4-0 both of you in any best of seven. You obviously have no idea of what you're talking about.
As for losing streaks? Don't think there's any 'good' solution, taking a break will work. If you keep on playing it will end eventually, but that will be more mentally taxing. Losing is good for learning and all, but there's a point where you aren't learning; merely beating yourself up and playing bad because of it.
So yeah, if you think it's too much of a pain in the ass to keep playing just take a break. Play another game, play no game, whatever. A few days or a week should do it.

Lime,
I've played you a couple times on the ladder. I remember you as a very decent zerg. Sad to hear that you've dropped to 2000. Gonna agree with kvz that the ONLY thing i see from protoss and terran are 1 base all in cheeses.
Take a break and spend a couple day watching replays and analyzing your losses to better your decision making.
Ironically enough, my rank shot up in the past week due to all the cheesing. Once you find the build and timings that block all the cheeses, you'll get back up in the ladder. Hope to see you winning again.

You've cheesed me 9 times out of 10 on the ladder, maybe take that into consideration ^_^

i enjoy playing wow as a relax game and just enjoy the lore. it can be expensive i know since th esubscription but its quite worth it!
