Terran is also hit quite hard although the vr nerf should be welcomed especially with so many terrans losing to vr pushes recently. Not sure if the medivac nerf will make any difference. The number difference seems really small. Marauder will take longer to snipe buildings as well.
Zerg should be happy with this. how do you kno terran is losing a lot to void rays? out of like the 20 games ive played vs toss in the past few days i played like 1 or 2 people with void rays O.O

That pretty much takes out proxy cheese rush for Terran, early pressure vs. fast hatch, and even makes 6 pool very hard to defend on maps like Steppes of War or certain positions on other maps.
While Terran cheese takes quite a hit, I don't agree about early pressure. Early Hellions do just fine at harassing an early expo, and leads into a quite strong unit comp against Zerg (mech/biomech). Cloaked (even non-cloaked) Banshee harass is quite strong as well.

I kinda like it all. No more proxy rax cheese TvT either. Also basetrading VR's are stupid; they were OP pwoered up, worthless unpowered.
ZvT will be SO easy... reapers are worthless, you can FE freely now. Just need a few roaches for the hellions, and they cant kite you anymore! Roaches really needed a buff.

you guys should calm down and first play a minimum of 20 ladder games before you complain about the patch!
I'm very surprised that blizzard released these changes before Patch 1.2 as scheduled. I do also think it was mainly because of the upcoming GSL Season 2.

Its a good start. I think corrupters are still kinda useless and thors/banshees too good. But otherwise its an ok patch.

Has huge implications for P v P. Lol wow so they now do as much damage as a single stalker - watch out! Doubling a useless damage output only makes it go from useless to bad. The only huge implication to pvp is that you will not need to worry about voidrays at all.
Yes, yes, they do as much damage as a stalker.
But they also attack Much, much faster.

cute.. additional "make-the-game-more-easy-for-noobs" features without energy bars and spell casting...
I'm pretty sure those features have nothing to do with "noobs", and everything to do with preventing feedback.

idk about you, but i don't see many noobs use the abilities of the thor/corruptor, so this change isn't to make the game easier for noobs, at least in any significant way (i.e. will more noobs use their abilities because they no longer have the energy bar? really?)
have you considered as a possible a balance change to mitigate feedback's effectiveness so high templars dont insta-kill zerg's counter to colossi, and so that thor don't lose half their hp for 50 energy?

havent had the time to read all this nonsense...but what is the general consensus about terran being imba or not? now that this patch is out

On October 15 2010 06:25 kasumimi wrote: Don't void rays have 3 levels of charge? If yes then why there are only 2 in the patch notes?
Yeh I initially thought we were getting a buff to damage due to the nerf in speed.
However apparently blizzard thinks there are now only 2 levels of charge when there are 3 total. However the REAL level 1 and level 2 have the same damage. This wasn't always the case as in beta, but blizzard is counting leve 1 and 2 as level 1, and counting level 3 as level 2.
Void Ray has lost hp, range, damage, "2nd" charge state, and now halved effective dps. They gutted it it truly is a "void" ray. It just sucks in your money and does nothing.

The only huge implication to pvp is that you will not need to worry about voidrays at all. They do like 70% more damage than a stalker, when uncharged. Learn about cooldown and DPS plz. They already had situational usage eg scrap station when if you attacked your base got owned. Every chance they are now viable as a support unit in a regular fight.

i just regained my faith in blizzard, a patch this quickly, eveything makes sense (especially if you keep in mind that their main focus this patch was team games)
i hope they either buff immortal or finally nerf rauder in the upcoming patches, toss might be weak now, but lets see how uncharged voids work out now.
zvp will definitely become interesting now, was too easy for p before imho as a toss player
pvp prolly wont change much, maybe voids are more viable now, lets see
tvp i think t will prolly rule now, but dunno, void/stalker might still be strong, as void charged dmg vs rines wasnt nerfed much, might actually give phoenix a try now that they are fixed
team games will definitely be way more balanced now
terran might have to start making depot earlier to defend against possible new allin-cheeses, lets see how that works out metagame-wise
still hoping for a toss in gsl 2, but it didnt exactly become more likely with this patch, but at least they have the balls to make big changes to units, like the VR, so i can keep up my hopes for a rauder nerf in the future
definitely an exciting patch
also thx for someone in this huge thread pointing out that the uncharged void buff was actually that big, i misread that first time as well

TvP is imba in favor of Terran now. Rest are probably fine or close.

me play Zerg me like changes me hate void rays and think that now they are a more balanced unit overall, were hydras and queens on creep can actually chase them off (despite the vray killing them easy-er now)

Attack range is 5, but the splash can hit as far as 6.65
