Note: This on EU server
As of late (after the launch of the maps Jungle Basin and Shakuras Plateau) it seems that maps in custom games, such as Xel'Naga Caverns have been set to gamespeed "fast", rather than "faster", while the new map Shakuras Plateau and others remain at "faster".
While this may not mean much in the grand scheme of things, I'm the kind of guy who likes to warm up with a game or two before hitting the ladder and have noticed this difference. Am I missing something obvious or is this something that's been on other people's minds?
--- This in the join menu of custom games.
Disclaimer: Just want to clarify, that I know that custom games' speed are determined by non other than the game creator and that the games shown in the list are ranekd by popularity (by default) and that the option of "faster" of course still exists, but is now so far down the list that you'd have to click "show more options" at least 3-4 times before it's shown.

Game creator sets the game speed no?
|
Indeed, but to just use a very blunt example:
If I created a game of 1vs1 Xel'Naga Caverns 2 weeks ago on "faster", I'd have an opponent joining within 5-10 seconds at max. If I create a game today on "faster", I'll be sitting for up to half an hour before someone joins.
Did everyone suddenly change their game speed preference to "fast", or did something change in the structure that caused this?

It's the popular list where people join from where the game speed is set to fast. That's why if you create a game with the fastest speed you won't have anyone joining it.

Its Pretty annoying and i Hope we can fix it, or that it fixes itself/
It seems like the new maps came out, So ofc people wanna test them first off of ladder, So that's great. So the other standard maps became a little less popular, Then sombody made a game on the "fast" setting and people joined it by mistake so it has now become "popular"
Now people wanting to play some other map eg Xel'Naga Caverns cant because noone joins and when they look on the list to join , They dont really wanna join a "fast" game so they just go for The new maps.
So now we have a problem ?
What can we do ?

Amazes me though how a few hundred thousand people are not looking at game speed before joining. I played a few games on fast and asked my opponent if he realised this wasn't faster. "It's not on faster? wtf??"
Oh well, I suppose laddering solves the issue.

It sounds like another example of why the popularity system really isn't a very good idea.
But I suppose that's been said to death already.
