Because in sc2, Terran didn't have Vikings or an air that out ranges hydras by so much. Overlords were also detectors thus cloaked wraith are also more useless. So in a sense, it was 'safer' to position overlords on cliffs etc. Also, medics and dropships weren't the same unit in sc1. Now, every bio terran grabs MedVacs. If you wanted to do a drop in sc1, it goes without saying you HAVE to get a dropship. A unit dedicated to dropping. Thus, when scouted by chance the zerg at least have a warning. Oh and Zerg had scourges. Fast lil buggers that can nullify a drop ship with one big explosion. It takes quite a few mutas to shoot down a medvacs b4 it lands in sc2.

I basically only play zerg (although I play the other races at diamond level too, just to have a better feel for how to beat them) and I cant believe the number of people jumping down your throat for making intelligent comments. Comparing Zerg AoE to Terran AoE? Seriously? How does that matter? If I wanted to play a race with tons of AoE, I'd play Terran! Now here we've got a guy making intelligent comments, and giving you guys the actual reasons blizzard has chosen not to include lurkers in the game. Maybe they're not good reasons, who knows. But you guys respond to his reasonable posts with "OMG WTF TERRAN LOVER WTF BLIZZ BRING BACK LURKER QQ IMBA BLIZZARD DOESNT PATCH THIS GAME SUCKS BLIZZARD LOVES TERRAN BLIZZARD DOESNT CARE AOE AOE AOE AOE AOE AOE LOOK AT ALL THIS AOE!!" None of that is reasonable discussion. None of it. Zerg ARE underpowered, there is a REAL imbalance issue. Blizzard is aware and they're doing something about it. Want to know something crazy? Blizzard is really, really good at what they do. Because they're good at their job, they're patching the game slowly. Whoa - get that. The patches are coming slowly, with subtle adjustment, because blizzard knows what the fuck they're doing. Not because they're incompetent. Not because they love terran. Because they're smart. I'm sorry Blizzard didn't immediately give Zerg 10 new units and give zerglings + 30 damage the very first time Idra lost a game. I'm sorry they have waited an astonishing 2 months into the life of a game that will (hopefully) be around for years to make changes. I'm really glad, personally. When the balance changes roll out, I hope they're really good. As a zerg player, the last thing I want is zerg to get some ridiculous buff so I can just go around stomping every terran who dumb enough to lower their door. I want some changes that are just right, so I can beat terrans at my skill level and feel good about it. If blizzard came out with some kneejerk reaction patch like all you idiots want, it would fuck the game up even more. All things considered, the game is pretty damn balanced, and the fact that blizzard is being patient with these changes only guarantees that it will get more balanced as opposed to less balanced, which is what would happen if they immediately changed everything. Anyhow, I'm new to these forums, but has the discussion always been this awful? This feels like Bnet Lite.

If they were to perfectly balance the races Terran would be the best race because they simply have more options and are weaker to less things (MULE negates worker harass, chokes negate potential army size differences to a larger degree than other races, etc.) Or someone, heaven forbid, sticks with zerg and finds out something amazing. Seems unlikely though. Right now Protoss are flat out stronger than terran at multiple points in the game. The matchup is still fairly even. There's a pretty straight forward reason for that: it's the only way any race is going to compete with another race in terran's position. Blizzard have put themselves in a horrible situation with some of their racial design choices, and I think as time goes on they are going to realize this more and more. Zerg's problem that is they are pretty close to being balanced and still by far the worst race to be. They are easy to disrupt through harasses, a few worker kills nearly guarantees a win. They have no way to pressure. They have no trump card ability that you have to play around like forcefield or siege tanks. They have no looming threat like void rays or various other little minor tech harasses that lead in to other things. Their units are only good against things they counter until T3. Creep spreading is a straight up dumb mechanic at any level of play higher than silver. This is all well and good on ladder because if they are balanced they can still win fine, but if you are playing in a tournament that is not the race you want to play. I think people really blow zerg's weakness out of proportion because they can't separate how much is from design and how much is from them being actually weaker. You can argue that poor design leads to a "weaker" race, but giving roaches extra armor, zerglings their old attack speed, and some other buffs is not going to fix zerg competitively unless it makes them overpowered, aka that's not balance.

And Stalkers still blink while Fungal Growthed. Oh, and he wasn't making ONLY infestors.
