This should be patched out. In the skill groups where this will actually occur, it will occur for every single player, and thus no advantage is gained (or any advantage gained is too insignificant, ie +1% income over your opponent or something). In other words, it is basically pointless.
If Idra and Tester both do it against each other, they may as well not be doing it.
The only situation where it would garner an advantage where 2 players are both doing it is if one race benefits more from the extra minerals than the other. And that's a balance issue.

Pretty even split so far.
Quoting for greater visibility to increase sample size & reduce the sigma (what?),

No, you can't issue "return cargo" after the worker has returned its minerals.

WOW thats a good find lol

When you consider the average TL.neter is in Bronze League and isn't of even capable of doing this and microing a scouting worker and a executing clean builder order simultaneously, the results are meaningless on whether they think it adds to the game or not.

Who cares? This is just an opinion poll.

I facepalm at some of the people in here who complained about SC2 not having enough tricks as SC1 and when tricks are found their first reaction is "zomg imbalance patch out now!!"...and then later go back to complaining about no tricks.
This seems like a nice trick for upper tier players to do and definitely add another dimension to the game, an extra macro trick to use if you will.

Holy crap I tried comparing 6 nexus times with and without this trick:
Without: 2:34 With: 2:29
As adverstised, even exceuted with moderate levels of precison nets tangible results (abeit very small). It would, however require quite a lot more concentration to follow a normal bo while doing this trick.

Cool find anyway.
Perhaps you should play chess where there is no physical skill required, only strategy.

I think this is awesome, and all those guys who complain how MBS & automine remove from the game should instantly start doing this giving them an advantage... Great find!

Something like stacked mutas or stop lurker is mechanically easy to execute and adds a new dimension to the game. This is mechanically hard to execute and just makes early aggression/all-ins more efficient, which seems to be what most people hate in the game.

I've been trying a bit, and it actually seem to be working on harvesting gas as well. However I'm not sure that the way I'm testing it/doing it is completely correct, so can somebody else confirm/deny this?

If blizzard patches this, it had better not make it so workers mine faster by default
All builds would be totally effed up.

Competitive Chess requires amazing endurance. You also need to memorize a lot of openings with tons of variations as you get higher up and the ability to calculate multiple moves in advance. This takes a lot of hard practice to develop. Every competitive activity has a degree of rote, mindless grinding to it. Anyone who wants to avoid hard work is not going to succeed in competition anywhere. Unless the competition is whining the loudest about mechanics.

well i dont think the advantage u got doing this is so huge... will be like 2-3 seconds on the 1st gate/pool/randomstuff

I'm sure tournaments could make a rule to disqualify people from doing this trick, just like a bunch disqualify for burrowed infestor trick. If they wanted to.
I like this trick though!

No, if blizzard fixes it, it means all your workers all game long are mining faster. And i expect ti would mean more like 4-5 seconds with max efficiency, which is another 4-5 seconds PvP korean 4warpgate shaves off. And thats 4 seconds i'd rather keep, because fighting 4 warpgate is fucking annoying enough

please put this poll in the OP

Since this stops being useful at saturation, it's only an early game mechanic, and a highly demanding one at that. I think this should be left the way it is, early game people just spam uselessly and this way they can spam usefully.
