Is so easy to get Korean voices, I've been playing like that for a month or so. You don't need even to open a mpq, here is how I do it:
1. download Korean client and update to latest version. (I have C:\starcraft II\ and C:\starcraft II kr\ folders)
2. copy the sounds file in the starcraft II kr/mods/scliberty mod/ folder (I'm at the office and I dont remember the name of the folder or the file, the file is something like krKR.SC2Assets, however I do remember its size. It's 336 MB)
3. paste that file in the same location but in the starcraft II folder, backup the original sounds file (its name is something like enUS.SC2Assets, just change its extension to backup or something). now change the name of the krKR.SC2Assets to enUS.SC2Assets.
DONE.
NOTE:To avoid any patch problem, whenever a patch is released, I return the NA version to its original state; patch both versions; repeat steps.
I do not see how this could be illegal' or give you an advantage (in fact it's a disadvantage, because if you are not cautious you can easily get supply blocked since you don't understand anything). However this is so cool I don't mind getting supply blocked sometimes.
EDIT: It's easier if you manage to get just the assets file, instead of downloading the whole korean client. however you'll have to re-download it if a patch modifies this file. If anyone has a FTP I can upload it.

you will probably be able to, but isnt something against the rules ?

But if I download the whole Korean client I could still just log in with my european account on the european servers, right? (with a full korean game) I don't mind having a full korean game instead of just having korean sounds...
I can navigate through it, no problem. I think I would even like it..
So is it possible to just download the Korean client and play the korean game? (on the eu server)
In that way we wouldn't have to modify anything, we just know what to click and play all the way Korean (I know for sure many people would actually like this)

One can not connect to eu server with kr client. you would have to replace more files and probably modify a mpq files, to accomplish this.
I dont understand what you are trying to do. Do you want a complete kr client, but play in eu servers? what is the difference from having just korean voices? you want korean UI?
|
Can you please upload the krKR.SC2Assets using megaupload / mediafire or anything ? :>

No not necessarily. But if playing the whole Korean version is a quick solution for the need to play with Korean sounds, then I would do that. :D

It sounds really cool!!!
Until, like TLO, you start getting nuked by Boxer and have no idea when nukes are landing cause you can't understand a freakin word the game is telling you.

I started downloading the kr client, and then I'll upload the assets myself, It will take atleast until the week-end.

Thanks in advance. Now I can download a ~500mb file instead of ~6gb for the whole client.

You sir are a scholar and a gent. My goal of korean zerg advisor has been accomplished! Finally, they zerg can sound epic to me once more - thanks to my complete lack of ability to understand korean, and a more alien sounding va. ... I should get someone to nuke me so I recognize the appropriate panicked screech in time for a real one.

Very nice, it works. Thank you sir!
Where can I get the Korean client to update krKR.SC2ASSETS myself? :>
|
Thank you very much, I have been trying to get this done for about a week now.
