I just heard the Korean voices on CellaWeRRa's live stream. "Build more overlords" "We must place that on creep" (something like that)
But than in Korean... Totally bawler...
Is there a way to replace the english voice acting with korean voice acting for Zerg? There must be a way. And otherwise Blizzard must make a way because this would be awesome.
Any suggestions, ideas, info???
|
Yes the korean zerg sounds are totally sick o,o

Hari udunta kura kussssa..
I must have this, I am even willing to buy the korean game...

I don't think you can get it at the moment, I think the game is too young
|
Same here. These sounds are so damn great, think we have to buy a Korean version of the game and play on their server though.

Download the Korean client and use an mpq editor to replace the sound files.

Can anyone confirm that this works?

Actually, Blizzard released a patch in later stages of beta that broke custom sound mods via MPQ editing, hence why Zelniq's zerg sound pack stopped working. It's plausible that there's still another way to do it, or that someone can force it to work, but it's certainly not obviously possible.
|
MPQ's are always editable, but you'd need some injection to do it to make SC2 not crash on startup. It's always been possible in WoW by starting the WoW.exe process through a specific hack. It will probably come someday..

all the voices in my game have dissapeared!!! i dont get any of that need more overlords crap or voices in my cutscenes=p anyone know the fix?
|
So for now, the Korean version + Korean server is the only viable option?

Yes :C unless you in some way can get a cracked beta version and play vs bots or something.. lol

Can't you just use mywarcraftstudio to open the .MPQs, find the audio you want, and then even create a patch .MPQ to overwrite the audio without actually editing an MPQ at all?
I've done this with WoW, and since it's the same file type, I don't see how it wouldn't work.
|

Because they broke it, probably checking for wrong checksum "MPQeditor" is superior fyi
|
PS: There's no way you could possibly get banned for MPQ editing.
|
At least not in the WoW days, people made superbig WSG flags and stuff anyway.. surprised they havn't made Warden scan for it

(serious) Because, even if they can check the normal MPQs to look for edits and ban for it (I highly doubt they could tell, given the file names would be exactly the same within the MPQs, and I doubt they would do that anyway), the original MPQs wouldn't even be edited. You'd have patch MPQs in the same folder that are read first to overwrite the specific things you want.
Essentially you'd be getting banned for having extra files inside of a folder on your harddrive. I can't imagine that ever happening.
Maybe I'm wrong, but file editing seems extremely safe to me. It's all client-side.

I think it sounds sick because you don't understand the language.

Well the English version sounds stupid as well.
I should go and switch all of the audio with SC BW audio.

I laughed when I heard the Korean localization sounds.
I think bonedriven is right, it sounds cool because you don't understand the language.

U will be banned only if the modification give you an advantage. Cosmetic one's are safe. I use some skin modification for WoW for ages and didn't have any troubles.

If they hadn't exploited (in such an obvious manner, no less -- I do know the guild you're talking about, back in the AQ days), there's no way blizz would have ever had a clue.

There are diffrent sounds for wow right? Is it allowed to change to korean sounds in WoW then? or something like that
|
As Buddhist says, such a minor change that has little to no impact on real game play wouldn't really be investigated by Blizzard regardless of being against the TOA or not
|
You don't need to understand the language to know whether or not a voice sounds sexy. Korean voice = sexy. English voice = not sexy (and slightly annoying).
|
This is a quite good thread for people who are actually interested in this, but the thread name is just awful :f
|
Yeah i wouldn't mind a Korean zerg sound pack i think it would be rather neat.

I'm in for one too. Make it happen!
|
is there a chance too hear some samples... searched on youtube but found nothing..
link would be nice. thx alot

I would love this to happen.

Someone told me to just download the Korean client and change the mpq files...
But isn't having the Korean client enough? If I download the korean version I'll just have the korean game right? I don't really want to change anything, and I don't mind having a full korean game.
That would even be more awesome than having just Korean sounds... That would make me feel like all my lands are foiled and Korean. (insider "joke")
So I am currently downloading (with pauses) the Korean 6 gig game with the Korean client... My intuition says people aren't saying stuff about mpq things for nothing so what's the deal?
Will I be able to play the game (everything korean though (which is awesome) ) after I download this?
|
Is so easy to get Korean voices, I've been playing like that for a month or so. You don't need even to open a mpq, here is how I do it:
1. download Korean client and update to latest version. (I have C:\starcraft II\ and C:\starcraft II kr\ folders)
2. copy the sounds file in the starcraft II kr/mods/scliberty mod/ folder (I'm at the office and I dont remember the name of the folder or the file, the file is something like krKR.SC2Assets, however I do remember its size. It's 336 MB)
3. paste that file in the same location but in the starcraft II folder, backup the original sounds file (its name is something like enUS.SC2Assets, just change its extension to backup or something). now change the name of the krKR.SC2Assets to enUS.SC2Assets.
DONE.
NOTE:To avoid any patch problem, whenever a patch is released, I return the NA version to its original state; patch both versions; repeat steps.
I do not see how this could be illegal' or give you an advantage (in fact it's a disadvantage, because if you are not cautious you can easily get supply blocked since you don't understand anything). However this is so cool I don't mind getting supply blocked sometimes.
EDIT: It's easier if you manage to get just the assets file, instead of downloading the whole korean client. however you'll have to re-download it if a patch modifies this file. If anyone has a FTP I can upload it.
|
you will probably be able to, but isnt something against the rules ?

But if I download the whole Korean client I could still just log in with my european account on the european servers, right? (with a full korean game) I don't mind having a full korean game instead of just having korean sounds...
I can navigate through it, no problem. I think I would even like it..
So is it possible to just download the Korean client and play the korean game? (on the eu server)
In that way we wouldn't have to modify anything, we just know what to click and play all the way Korean (I know for sure many people would actually like this)

One can not connect to eu server with kr client. you would have to replace more files and probably modify a mpq files, to accomplish this.
I dont understand what you are trying to do. Do you want a complete kr client, but play in eu servers? what is the difference from having just korean voices? you want korean UI?

Can you please upload the krKR.SC2Assets using megaupload / mediafire or anything ? :>

No not necessarily. But if playing the whole Korean version is a quick solution for the need to play with Korean sounds, then I would do that. :D

In beta i had 2 accounts 1 on EU and 1 on US cant you just download KR version and change the server file to EU?

Can someone please upload krKR.sc2assets ?

Editing MPQ files of the game client can get you banned. Alot of people got banned in WoW for editing MPQ files (not to gain any advantage, just cosmetic changes, like thundefury skin instead your weapon). This is lottery, you can be banned or not. But if you will be banned, this no way to get your account back.

I thought you needed a Korean account to DL the Korean client? I'd be interested in trying it though, if there is a way for a non-Korean account to DL the Korean client.

It works for Zerg but all the other sounds are hilarious. The Stalker has a 5 minute monologue when he warps in, lol!

I want korean voices too! Time for a petition?

just follow the steps above (on previous pages) ... aka.. no petition needed.

i did it but, is it legit?? i dont want to be banned for this. btw korean voices are so awesome

Download the Korean version of the game and I'll link you to how you can replace your voice pack with the Korean one. I made a tutorial its somewhere in the tech support forum.

I don't see why it isn't legit, it is just sounds. I did it wrong and battle.net recognized something wasn't right and didn't let me on. Then I did it correctly and it said everything was good.

How to download it? Its little complicated to make Korean Account.....

It should be on page 3 of the thread, please read the whole thing - you will get your answer.

i would be careful doing this. while they wont ban you for using korean sounds they might ban you for editing game files alone. i mean, it would be a large advantage to replace the nydus worm emerging or the upgrade complete sounds with something easier to hear, so blizzard might just see that your sound files dont match the cleints, and ban you.
|
yo! can someone upload the Taiwan SC2ASSETS version? The language for this version is Chinese (and i want to compare it to the korean version)
I DLd the client but to install it i need an account... so either toss me a guest pass or upload the ASSETS from TW.
PM or reply in this thread works.
|
Yeah, if the game client lets you in game with wrong region's sound assets file (if they cared, they should do a basic checksum test so that you don't get banned by mistake), and Blizzard decides to ban you afterwards for that, something is horribly wrong.
|

|
I did it aswell, and it works perfectly. I myself don't see how one could get banned for doing this, then again, you never know.
|
Doesn't seem to work for me. Can anyone confirm if it works if you have SEA version of the game? I even tried logging on to NA server.
|
Man, using the official blizzard downloader to try and get the korean version to swap the sounds... 3 days solid downloading now and it's still 52%...
|
Thanks for this guys, works great for me. If by great you mean "guaranteed to get you nuked at least 4 times and btw, you'll mine yourself to death because you can't hear the mineral-depleted voice." So yeah, I'm happy. :D

the zerg sounds in korean kicks ass ! it would have been so nice for zerg. not realy for terran

Any way to get this work? doesnt work anymore with the 1.2.2 patch

i am also curious, does anybody have a way for this to work with the latest patch <3

I have had Korean voice pack for awhile now, still working, and no ban insight.

I have tried it for the first time and works great, thank you.

YO ...since the patch my assets file is out of date..wud like to kno if someone with a working 1.32 patch with the koKR.SC2ASSETS (Korean) Unit sounds could upload it for me..would be greatly appreciated

I would love this to work too! I heard it on a MoonGlade's stream, I was instantly sold. Those voices are just so amazingly zerglike! Much better than the English voiceover.

i have the german version, and i hate the german sounds, I did not know that you can change the sounds, just dlwd a sound pack? so i can have english sounds???
is there a way to change the whole language of the game??

Is changing the voices tolerated or is it strictly forbidden & gets banned? I can't find any info or that, so I'd assume that no one ever got banned for changing the voices.

The easiest way to get a different Language 1. Go to your installation folder of StarCraft2 and create a random textfile in the versions folder. 2. Name the textfile according to the Language you like enUS (English Us) enGB (English Gb) frFR (French) deDE (German) esES (Spanish) esMX (??) ruRU (russian) koKR (Korean) zhCN (Chinese) zhTW (Taiwanese) plPL (Polish) itIT (Italian) ptBR (???)
you can put as many as you like in the name of the textfile.
3. Then run the Repair.exe 4. Wait Repair.exe will download the needed files. The files for one language are around 1 GB. (After patches Repair.exe is needed to download the latest version keep in mind that korean versions may get patched a day or so later)
5. go to the Variables.txt (On Windows7 /Documents/StarCraftII/ 6. change localeidassets to what you like (i.e. localeidassets=koKR)
|
Where would repair.exe be found?
|
|
StarCraft2 installation folder support folder
|
Not to derail but if its his easy to change language sounds how difficult would it be to revert all zerg sounds and music to broodwar? That's been my dream.
|
The thing is this files are all original Blizzard Sc2 Sound files and these are located on the Bilzzard-Server. To get Broodwar sounds you would have to manipulate those files because Blizzard does not provide files for Broodwar sounds. Maybe someone did this already but I don't know.

i have the korean voice pack and i play EU its possible and basically impossible to get banned for breach of EULA theres a thread on TL on how to get it.

hi are you sure you didn't change localeiddata because that variable is for texts and stuff
and if you change that to a non us version you will not be able to log into the us server

Yeah that's what I meant. Thought this localization think would change text, too. Just played a game and changed localeiddata back and the sounds are korean now. Can log in and play :D
Was hoping I could get the text, too. If I download the KR client can I connect to NA servers or am I just stuck with KR sound on NA client/server?
|
ruRU is russian not romanian
|
Download the Korean client.
Use the re-localizer to play on whatever server you want.
|
that megaupload sound pack is outdated. u can play as guest and go vs computer, but not login @ bnet

Is there no japanese localisation?

you don't need to download from there just look at page 7 and get the files from the blizzard server

this is the coolest thing ever, cant wait to play with korean voices

I believe ptBR=portugese of the brazillian dialect and esMX= spanish of the mexican dialect.

The extra voices you are hearing on destiny's stream come from sc2gears. You here the announcments for the auto-replaysave. I think he uses Smix Korean.

I ran the Repair.exe about an hour ago. It seems to be going really slowly.
Currently, it says:
BLIZZARD REPAIR Detected Installation: C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Detected Expansions: Wings of Liberty Detected Locales: enUS, zhCN Detected Version: 18701
Checked 7292.4 MB of 16221.4 MB
It's going really slowly. It's been in the 7000s for awhile now.
Is this supposed to happen?
|
Yes it is supposed to happen. While this is happening Repair.exe is downloading the files.

You can just add MPQ with your own files (and no other files inside created MPQ) and put into LibertyMulty folder.
No replacement and no redownloading for Repair.exe

Do i have to somehow delete the enUS ? When i do repair it shows both. And it was runnig korean for ONE load (when i reloaded sc2, it wasnt korean anymore) Also went into variables after it switched back to english, and the localidassets line is gone....?

yea thats the voice from sc2gears. can be set to english or korean.
google + download will fix that for ya

I bought the Taiwanese version of the game but I want to have the menus/voices in english, so I tried the repair method which changed the load screen to English, but when I try to log into battle.net it says I need an authorized language pack from Blizzard. How do I get around this?
|
Yep. Mine keeps reverting to english.
|
Do they have a Cantonese version? Or is it just mandarin for the Chinese pack?
|
Still waiting for a reply if someone could help me it would be great... I added the koKR txt, used repair, it downloaded the files. Edited the localID or w/e to koKR Loaded up sc2 (NA) all good. Closed it, opened it again, back to english. wtf????
|
armchair IT answer: set the Variables.txt file to read only
|
i believe this does not work anymore after the new patch. I couldn't join games after the patch had to reinstall, now i tried doing this again but repair.exe will not run with koKR txt.file in versions folder. Anyone else have this problem?
Repair.exe runs fine without koKR txt.file
|
I think it is because the game hasn't been patched in Korea yet. I wasn't able to play any games on bnet (NA) because I had played around with this earlier. Had to search my SC2 folder for all files containing koKR and delete them.
It will probably work again once all regions are patched.
|
When will Korea get the patch?
|
Hey all, I wrote up quick little application that handles the file creation, file editing, and launching of Repair.exe from ngtmre's post.
Also, I think the reason for the change back to english from which ever you had set is due to the Variables.txt in your account folder. (Documents\StarCraft II\Accounts\<number>\Variables.txt) I haven't looked into changing this one to see if it prevents the change, but it is worth a shot.
