seems like this whole topic is just noobs that try to brag "im 700 gold but I beat a 1200 diamond so every diamond 1200 sucks", or nonames from bw that are afraid that new sc2 players wont know how gosu they were in bw. edit: sry by the last part, just read the last 2 pages and random posts, some people in here actually seems clever, but this topic is @lol

If you are 2k diamond and want to compare it to BW and say you are d- or whatever, why can't you just give a fuck about sc2 and play bw instead and boost your e-penis seems like this whole topic is just noobs that try to brag "im 700 gold but I beat a 1200 diamond so every diamond 1200 sucks", or nonames from bw that are afraid that new sc2 players wont know how gosu they were in bw. edit: sry by the last part, just read the last 2 pages and random posts, some people in here actually seems clever, but this topic is @lol yousummed it up pretty well.

I am a pretty poor 1v1 player, 'the casual 900 point player', but I have to admit my knowledge of the game is pretty above average. I watch every GSL, I know timings down to the wire, stuff like that, I just don't practice enough to execute that knowledge on the ladder. My point being, don't assume that every mediocre diamond player does not have an understanding of the game.

Mine: Mid Platinum and below: E High platinum/ low Diamond: D- mid-high Diamond: D Masters: 0 - 1500: D+ 1500-2300: C- 2300-3000: C 3000-3400: C+ 3400-3600: B- 3600-3800: B 3800-4000: B+ 4000+: A-. Some of these people would give GSL code A contenders a run for their money / beat them. I'm disregarding the code S level players that fall into this category; namely, a few foreigners and the code S/some code A koreans. I clustered ranks more tightly towards the top because it seems like competition gets more fierce very quickly at those levels. E.g., I think the difference in level of play between 3000 masters and 4000 masters is much, much larger than the difference between a bronze leaguer and a diamond leaguer.

I'd say you're being a little generous- im 2900 masters and I'm terrible, deff not C level. You're prob not far off, though.

So: A-A+: Grandmaster (any points) A-: 95-100% Masters peak point pool (for example if peak Masters = 4000 points, A- players are 3600-4000 points) B+: 90-95% Masters B: 80-90% Masters B-: 70-80% Masters C+/C: 60-70% Masters C- :50-60% Masters D+: 0-50% Masters D: Top Diamond D-: Mid Diamond E: Low Diamond Platinum and below lack enough experience to rank on iCCup rating scale IMO. This is assuming that as rank increases, the players devotion to # of games played and personally hammering out timings against almost every potential opposing build order increases. The overall knowledge of the game increases by a large margin with each jump in rank.

There is also overlap between each league. Top of the previous league is usually much better than the bottom of the more advanced league, e.g A lot of top Diamond players can easily keep up with mid-masters. Basically SC2 ranking is no where near as reflective of skill level as ICCUP is.

They are totally different game, and the skill is differently placed. There can not possibly be any comparison, or if you do that, then it is purely imagined.

Silver: I know how to select units and make them attack. Gold: I have a general idea on how to play an rts game. Platinum (not stuck-in-platinum-because-stupid-system-won't-promote-me but actual platinum): I have a loosely followed build order. Diamond: Anything above that. I think you give far too little credit but i assume your joking, even bronze players know build orders to a certain extent and there are some bronze players who have played 1500+ games and arent portrait farmers, they defenetly know how the game works after 1500 games their execution is probably just sub par. I am in platinum (belong there not stuck there) and i think it is a very under rated league their are some quality players in platinum IMO i mean i dont think low level diamond is much different from platinum at all i get matched up against low lvl diamond all the time and it is quite even, but if it puts me up against any mid diamond player i get stomped.

I think it's probably important to note that that post is half a year old at this point and players have gotten a lot better across all levels since then.

But people often undervalue, what bronze league player knows. They often know alot of things, but their execution is poor. And nowadays, it is alot harder to advance in leagues than it was 6 months ago. You need to be a very solid and good average player to even get in platinum league.

I was D-/E in BW (flirted with the line a lot, but never used the antihack, so more like solid D-) I placed into silver, and belonged there... I'm diamond now, but still... I think it looks more like this Bronze-Gold: E Platinum: D- Diamond: D to D+ Masters: C- to B+ Future Grandmasters league: A- to Olympic

From the opening post its seems like the topic is about forum discussions and players using their rating and not their arguments as a legitimation to tell other players with lower ratings to shut it. From the last 10 pages It seems like its about mapping ratings or elitism.. Really, really strange.
