seems like a pretty retarded statement when talking about the most played game in the world... From what I understand, Cataclysm pretty much torpedoed the foundations upon which WoW competitive arena combat was based on. So much so that almost all the major tournaments including MLG have pulled it from the lineups. WoW arena is exciting to do but boring to watch. .
This was true before(until season8 gear tournaments). Then people expected Cata to make arena better and it just became worse, now it's unbearable to watch and play.
So I think they're right. Even a lot of top PvPers in WoW are moving on.

Anyone have another solution other than pause/unpause? Its not working for me. I can cancel/resume and get a few seconds of 2mb/s speed before it goes down to 200kb/s, then the download resets itself after 40MB doing that.

Unfortunately thats just the way the SOTG podcast downloads through itunes and even off a link on the blogspot page.

Ugh, was hoping giving it an hour would be plenty of time for it to download before i had to go to class.

Balancing SC2 is going to be such a different task than it was for BW. You're just pitting big balls vs big balls, rather than having enough dynamic to allow skill and micro help balance the game out. Anyone who has played SC2 exclusively may not be realizing how much different of a game it is.
Doing a lot of Brood War lately. The differences are stark. SC2 is smaller armies, with bigger, tougher units- so much more going on in a BW game because of the fragility of the units and their relative power (Reavers, Scourge, Golioth, Defiler)... while the top tier units in SC2 are almost always big lumbering idiots that take 12 supply (Thor, Ultra, Broodlord, Colossus, Battlecruiser).

From what I understand, Cataclysm pretty much torpedoed the foundations upon which WoW competitive arena combat was based on. So much so that almost all the major tournaments including MLG have pulled it from the lineups. WoW arena is exciting to do but boring to watch. PvP enthusiasts need to understand this and one of them not understanding this was the reason for me having to put a guildmember on my ignore list in the game ... You have six people mashing buttons every second and running around all over and any commentating is pretty much impossible to do because there is too much going on. Watching six health and mana/energy/rage/focus bars going up and down is boring after a while. You can "follow" only one person at a time and this gives you only a limited view on the battlefield. The same "problem" is true for Counterstrike, but that game is more tactic and less constant action and thus CS is watchable if you have good observers and commentators.
Except WoW arena never had any real foundation in balance, and was impossible to really make fair at any level of competition. No matter how good both teams were and assuming equal gear, group composition was a bigger factor in determining who won than anything else.

WoW has got to be the most shallow player vs. player experience you could find anywhere. I honestly don't understand how blizzard could take one of their RPG franchises and try to add this 'rated pvp' element to it. At best it is disingenuous design philosophy seeing as how they KNOW a game like that could never be balanced.
I honestly don't understand how anyone could find it entertaining in any format. I really hope they don't do the same thing to diablo three.

It really pisses me off that he was sick too man... the gull of that guy.

That ending was so epic. Glad we got to see Idra's cat and Tyler's chest ferrets.

great show! i do miss day9's neutral-ness a little bit
glad idra is admitting he played teribad vs squirtle, hope he gets to practice more and dominate! tho i got a feeling that cruncher is gonna take him out in tsl lol...

Any comments on iNcontrol's statement that PvP is going to be taken over by mass phoenixes? How would this even work? How does it withstand 4gate? Or do you transition into it after defending 4 gate?

Or do you transition into it after defending 4 gate? iNcontrol's done the mass phoenix build quite a few times on stream, frequently after 1-gate expanding and holding off a 4gate/3gate robo with a defensive 4gate (might have been 3gate-stargate).
I'm not solid on the specifics of the build, I'm not sure if he has a way to open phoenixes on 1base, but you could surely find out more just from watching his stream (justin.tv/incontroltv).

For those of you still arguing this... Of course there was a door in the old GSL booths, you could see them in almost every series. Go to the last set in any of BoxeR's series and you'll get to see him opening it because he always goes to shake his opponents' hand. The new booths they have now are fully soundproof.

I don't think it was mentioned he was sick -_- (and did you mean gall? I think it's gall)
You, Tyler and JP are all super heroes and even without Day[9] SotG is awesome, but with him it's about 50% better and I miss the laugh track.

Lol @ Day9's laugh track. That guy could be the audience in any sitcom. Just an incredible outlook on life by the sounds of it :D

I'd be happy with this - Australian internet starts at 600kb/s then goes down to 40
Pause/Unpause is the only way unfortunately.

I know you get a fair amount of crap about this already, but distributing the MP3 version of the show via Blip isn't going to cut it anymore. I'm extremely appreciative of the content that gets produced, and I'll continue to use workarounds, but a fair bit of frustration could be removed by hosting this elsewhere.
There'd be no complaint from me if the content weren't good, so keep that up

I see some people posting about the MP3 issues with download speed, and I'm really looking for answers. I can host it anywhere technically, but it needs to be on a private (i.e. no mediafire / filefront / etc) host, with low costs (bandwidth is expensive), track statistics, and also be able to interact with iTunes.
If you have somewhere you know of willing to shed out a ton of free bandwidth then please send them to me. Until I find that though, it will remain on blip.
It would also help me a ton if you answered this poll.
