A core unit of your army being vulnerable to a different kind of attack forces you to diversify your unit composition, to take terrain into account when engaging, and to not just blindly mass Colossi because they can be so effectively countered. Or they could just not have colossus in the first place? And have just purely ground vs ground armies? The point of the Colossus is that it forces air and anti-air. If the ground battles weren't just a big clump going at a another big clump there wouldn't be a need to conceal the terrible with a cloud of air units.
But it isn't clump vs clump. People keep saying this like we are still in 2010. Repeated for so long that it becomes iron clad regardless of how the game has actually progressed.
If that's what you want to believe then believe it. I won't be able to change your mind.

Question: Supposing there's a problem with some strategie mid-way HoTS, will there a patch when that problem seems to be answered by not realesed yet LotV unit-mechanic ?

I feel the terran viewpoint is well represented......

Geoff fighting to the good fight to defend Mech

O_o I used to love watching Flash play an insane turtle-style vs Protoss in BW. It's different to see a great player making a fragile defensive playstyle work, than bad players abusing imbalanced defensive playstyles. Well, then it's vitally important for the balance designers to make sure something isn't actually imbalanced and not just used properly vs improperly orchestrated attacks. Which I think they fucked up on, in certain aspects of WoL. I guess it's a thing Blizzard is working on though, considering the way they're not working on any mine nerf despite all the complaints.

Would taking bio off Hellbats work? No healing and don't get bonus damage from Archons, for instance (iirc).
Edit/ These are good questions from Geoff, and it's good that he is critiquing DK's answers.

alright david kim, make the game fun. but first make it balanced. because its no-one is going to watch "fun" starcraft games if they aren't having fun playing the game.

Geoff needs to move on...

Hellbats – double the attack cooldown, lower the base damage and enable blue flame for more bonus vs. light, 1 base armour (make it a tanking unit it’s supposed to be while hellion being the harassing unit).

No he doesn't as he is'nt getting an straight answer.

David Kim is reacting to this hellbat question the wrong way. It's a design complaint, not a balance one. Hellbat drops are too common and useful and appearing in too many matchups, and even when they aren't, the possibility that they can be there is limiting the opponent's options. Even if they are in only 50% of the games, if you just can't play a certain way because they MIGHT do it, then the other 50% of games are being affected as well.
It's a design/game variety problem more than a balance one. Them killing so many workers isn't as much of a problem as them being able to do so even when there is defense. That is what is making them so cost-effective, still being extremely useful even against strong defense.

The thing that's so cool about healing hellbats with medivacs, is that it actually makes medivacs more viable in a mech composition. Medivacs open up dropping possibilties, dropping opens up the possibility to multitask, and imo multitasking is fun to watch.
I'd honestly rather see them reduce the hp of the hellbats than that they remove the healing.

I have never been a fan of this "The gameplay that we want" design philosophy from Blizzard in regards to StarCraft II.

Dustin Browder has a fix to the issue of hellbats being so much better than hellions, because they can be healed: let's make hellions also biological! :D

Moreover, that's not a sufficient justification for the Colossus. In WOL, Protoss air sucked because Corruptors and Vikings had to be better (either through damage or range) than Protoss air. Don't get me wrong, I think the Colossus is a cool unit. But, it needs to be re-imagined. Lower range, siege mode, less damage, different attack etc. There are many options. While vikings are good I think marines are are far bigger deterrent for protoss air than vikings can ever be.

Here's a crazy idea.
Terrans make turrets vs mutalisks.
Zerg can make spinecrawlers vs hellbats.
Do they? Nope... just amove those lings into dropped hellbats and then cry about it.. ...
