Sure their team has a good set of expertise, and sure they consult pros for potential changes before patches, but I'm pretty confident in saying that there are a lot of people that understand all of the interactions between units at a deeper level than some people on their balance team.

Though I thought we already knew that. I really hope that Blizzard finds a way to keep that ability in the game. It is the exact sort of decision making I think is best for the game. Do I chono probes or cut corners in my defense and rely on this ability to hold a ling/marine all-in/pressure? And since it does nothing to armored targets, only has uses against a set group of units. Plus with the new super hellions, I need something. Damn it, the improved version of that unit better cost gas.

Well the expansion has not even gone to beta yet. If you watched the reveal of WOL, a lot of the stuff that was first featured never made it into the game(time shield anyone, god it looked cool). Personally I think they are just trying out some new abilities and units to see if we can come up with more complex builds and gameplay. If you listen to the people at Blizzard, they say that most abilities and units are to powerful when they first make them. They find, as a whole, that it is easier to tone a unit down than to buff it up.

An opinianated, intelligent person. Day[9] is awesome when it comes to many things. But he never has an opinion about anything that could even border to balance. And when he has opinions its like its from a bronze noob. An example is the time when he tried to convince IdrA that the counter to getting pyloned into your base is 1 base hydra.... and when IdrA tried to convince him that you would just get slaughtered doing that, he tried to explain in a haugthy voice that protoss couldnt have cannons and stalker and sentries at that time. I really hope Tyler will be running the show. He is awesome.

When Day9 leaves partway through the next SotG, you bring on DeMuslim and Machine and can really delve into the new units. :D

Please don't discuss HotS units, changes, or possible op/up. It is all speculation and is meaningless when there are so many tournaments and important things now to discuss. Save HotS stuff for when it's, you know, somewhere near completion and you're seeing something closer to a finished product. That's not to say ignore it completely for those of you who actually played some of it, but don't spend much time on it. Sincerely, Somebody who doesn't want to hear how op/up a unit that wont make it to release as is.

Like potential strategies that unit can produce, potential strategies that unit shuts down, etc.

I don't think it would be bad to at least talk about their experiences and how much they think will change, but it is a bit silly to go way in depth on this.
