But we seriously need another EU vs US matchup tournament, we had one months ago and Euros won in a landslide, someone get that tournament up!

I think they need a big format change, because it's really gotten stale.

I think they need a big format change, because it's really gotten stale. I absolutely agree. It's hard to develop an emotional attachment to the results when the whole thing cycles so quickly. On the other hand, there are nerds out there willing to pay for the constant SC2 they're producing, so whatever solution they come up would need to generate a similar amount of content or they'd be basically throwing away money. In my mind, the goal should be to make the tournament take four months or so to raise the stakes of winning any given season, without doing something like an NASL-style round robin that makes each individual match feel less important to both players and audience. What occurs to me (I have no idea if this is a good idea or not) would be to combine Code S and Code A, and give the qualification tournament (Code B) more coverage -- the level of talent that is not in Code A or S in Korea is still extremely high and offering better coverage of the games would give the community a chance to see more games from lesser known players that we otherwise only really see in GSTL. I'm not sure what format for the larger Code S player pool would provide the best dramatic situation and make better games more likely, but I'm sure a clever structure could provide a slow-paced, hard fight to the top over the course of two or three months. Of course, with the number of TvTs we're looking at for the next few seasons, GSLs might start taking three or four months without any format changes at all...

So having a small discussion about the future of protoss or what the core problem surrounding protoss feels like would be cool to hear. I know people complain the show is about "the state of protoss" instead of game at times but right now I feel it would be an extremely topical and interesting discussion to take place. Thanks for reading my suggestion :D I want some lights and glimmers of hope to come out of a discussion hopefully as well. Uh....It's been like a month! It took Zerg like half a year to figure out what to do in ZvP! 1-1-1 has been here what, 3 weeks? (I can't speak to PvT very well). Zerg just got a massive ZvP nerf to the point where I want to switch races. edit: This isn't a balance whine, its more of a counter-whine

But there is a big problems with alternatives: If you make a very regular teamleague analogue to SC/BW all other tourneys lose out because the best players will be committed to this league. In GSL, at least if someone drops out early, he can still attend other events or when hes tough try to pull a Huk (which judging by Huks result in that phase is nothing you should do regularly). That’s basically gone with a "league", except a team is willing to send his players out anyway and by that risking worse results in the most prestigious league there is. If you pull NASL style you got pretty similar problems just for less players. It's not that easy with SC2... SC/BW is totally Korean focused so "other" tournaments/leauges are a non-issue.

But i think that mlg/ipl/nasl need to organize eu vs na tournament like gsl world championship, that would be pretty epic imo.

It doesn't work too well, since nobody understands the system and when they are airing what, but it could work well for GSL in theory maybe. I think GSL would be able to do it. I rarely watch IPL, not because the quality or casters but because it is a bit confusing and repetitive. Part of this comes from all of it being played pre-air I guess. I actually find myself watching more GSL, in part because of foreigner participation. The Code S format isn't very pleasing to me. Although having 1 person go to up and downs is good and works well, having bo1's just isn't very entertaining. I could never come up with a suitable format but hopefully when more money comes to the Korean scene they can figure something out to spice it up.

I wish there was more discussed, I would love to hear more opinions on differences in mechanics, units, strategies, tournament format and anything else different between the two games.

GSL is still the best tourney to watch in the world and has been the only SC 2 tourney I've paid money for because I feel it's the only one worth my money. The rest I can just watch their free streams and don't need things like MLG gold, etc.

It feels like IGN is airing random games all over the place. You never know whats up next, you don't know what qualifiers there are, which ones are currently live and wheter its the fiftieth rebroadcast. The games are not live and nobody knows when they were actually played. I also couldnt find a decent bracket for all the qualifiers... So many things that hurt the excitement and have really made me lose interest in IGN. I'm probably gonna watch the main event but that's about it.

I'm a bit curious though, what exactly were in the patch notes that is so awful for zerg? The neural change? Was it really that big of a deal, or was it something else that I overlooked?
