GSL has the same number tournaments per year like OSL and MSL combined afaik (GSL seasons are 2 months long). Although the Super Tournaments, WCs, etc might come on top of that, I'm not exactly sure right now.

The feeling of oversaturation comes mostly from foreign events imo. If somebody were to watch ONLY the GSL tournaments, I don't think it would feel like an overly dense schedule at all.

I think State of the game should just let in a european ''Ambassador'' like rotterdam08. I think he would be a perfect fit for the show. It would bring alot more insight in the european scene to the show. someone else agrees that the show needs someone that knows the european scene?

The problem is that it's 5.30 in the morning and I doubt Rotterdam or any other sane person would be willing to wake up at that time every Tuesday.

MSL and OSL normally have (had) 6 combined tourneys a year, the October GSL which will end at Blizzcon will be the 8th GSL this year. I guess they'll probably have nine main events for the whole year (this includes the World Cup, but why would we exclude it). That is more than in BW, but I don't think it is too bad either. The main difference is that MSL and OSL run at the same time, and each cycle lasts 3-4 months. So every 3-4months you have two new champions. GSL has another champion every 6weeks.

I don't mind it too much personally. But if they were again to have a super-tournament of some sort, it should probably be at least 2-3 months long and be advertised as some kind of championchips above a regular GSL. This years super-tournament was pretty meh, basically the same as all the other GSLs with one additional round.

As a european myself i'm against such a thing.
1. I less about the NA scene and in SOTG i'm getting information about that.
2. Why should 5/6 talk about something they don't know that well with a 6th person?
3. The show is working in the current state. It's mostly about selection of topics and the mood of the pillars if it's a good show.

I don't know whats going on in SC2 scene but why doesn't GSTL fill the void in between individual leagues as proleague in BW does?

Because there never really is a void between those leagues. Individual leagues happen every month and gstl also happens during the same time, only difference is that gstl now takes 3 months each season. From what I understand the only reason why people can actually make a living playing sc2 in korea is gsl because a lot of these guys can actually live of of getting atleast ro32 in code s each month. Gotta wait for bw to be as dead in korea as it is in the rest of the world till big sponsorships switch over and we can actually have what you described: Around 6 individual tournaments a year that actually mean something and team league in between.

You misunderstand me. It seemed that many peoples main complaint with making GSL a thrice yearly league was that they liked watching GSL every month and without GSL once a month there would a "void" that needed filling.

Oh I see, well my point that sc2 in korea wouldn't be selfsubstainable without monthly gsls still remains. As I see it BW needs to die and big (KOREAN) sponsors need to start supporting sc2 teams so players can actually make a living only playing in a few individual leages per year.
But yeah I do agree I'd really like to see less individual leagues per year and team leagues inbetween. That would actually make me buy a team league pass, because right now I don't even have the time to watch all of each gsl.

Yes that was the case that Artosis was making and i agree to a degree that SC2 does not have the capability to 'go BW'.
...
I ignored your last bit about BW needing to die but you just keep going at it...but hey this is SC2 forums i should have known better.

My point wasn't that I want it to die, in my eyes it's a simple fact that brood war will be pretty dead in 1-2 years from now, and that needs to happen to let sc2 grow. By no means does that mean that I want it to die, recent OSL finals were way better than any sc2 game I have ever seen.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Rotterdam, Mr.Bitter, Apollo and ToD made their own State of The Game? ^^.

MrBitter already talked about that idea on an ESL TV show. He does not want a European talk show, but rather Rotterdam on SotG, so that everyone watches the same show instead of skipping the other, and EU and NA do not grow more apart.

If Europe had a version, then TLO is a must have for me. I like Total Biscuit's voice, so would like him to host, but alot of other guys are good too. Fill out the pros with Ret and Naniwa maybe.

I think Bitter has the right idea.. JP if you read these comments. It will lead to more insights of the EU part of the foreigners community, which it now lacks. Please think about it! I havent heard Rotti deny that he didn't wanted to join in on 5.30 so let's assume he's fine with that :D.

They have to talk about OGN's sc2 broadcast !
It is awesome, games have been good, observing is at a new level, production is amazing, and sc2 in korean feels right, even when you don't understand a word like in bw.
I'm sure the old bw'ers they are had their heart warmed by that
