I feel as if people who really want a European are kind of missing the point of SOTG. It seems to me, that JP wants the show to be more of a relaxed conversation from whatever the guests want to talk about. Throwing a European in there just so 1 person will know the scene won't accomplish anything. If there's only 1 guy who really knows the European scene, players, and tournaments, then it will defeat the purpose. It takes 2 to tango.

Maybe I'm wrong, but just throwing somebody in there so he can talk about Europeans will be weird. Look at the hosts. All of them (minus JP) played SC BW. They've known each other for years. They've seen the ups and downs. Now, if JP can find a European who's known these guys for years, is extremely familiar with both the NA and European scene, gets along well with the other hosts, and is willing to stay up all night to be on the show, then yes add him. But if not, I personally feel it will just make the show extremely awkward.

Yeah, I kinda agree with this. It's like everyone now has expectations of SoTG to be some big production catch-all Starcraft 2 show rather than just a bunch of guys talking about Starcraft related stuff (which is why it became good/popular in the first place).

It's the same as requesting that there is a "Terran/Zerg representative", or a "Korean scene representative", or fantasy casting for the next regular SoTG member after Incontrol left.

It's weird to expect them to just throw in some random person on their podcast just to fill up some category and check some boxes. That's just a recipe for show losing its soul imo.

That said, as a fan of European SC2 scene I think that Rotterdam and Mr.Bitter can make a fantastic podcast and it would be awesome to watch/listen.

We all know a talk about broodwar usually ends up in a Starcraft 2 bashfest because their is alot of comparing going on. -These round robin questions were not so prevalent in earlier state of the games that made this show great, Right now its like all you hear. The same points get restated.

What can be done to make the show better?

-more passion
-less sc2 bashing
-less round robin questions
-more actual game talk about recent strat trends or balance
-more controversial guests = put on an idra , having all protoss viewpoints suck.

Currently Inside the game is way better than this show, No fluff, straight to the point .

Its clearly evident that through their casting, play and discussion that each of these individuals has lost their passion for the game along time ago. This is just one of the many factors that will contribute to the inevitable downfall of E Sports as a whole ruining it for many generations to come.

Don't know if I should post here. Some german progamers have done a similar thing to state of the game. The videoformat is pretty new and its only in german unfortunately but for those who didnt know: http://www.sc2pro.de/?p=1018

Darkforce, Socke, Hasuobs and Delphi discussing all kinds of things about the scene with Rine as host.

I don't even understand those arguments. If one person has a better understanding of the scene that would ruin the show? So what artosis has been doing with his superior knowledge of the Korean scene is actually secretly undermining the show for his own vague, evil purposes?
I call bullshit on that one.
Naniwa, DeMuslim and TLO went on and made great shows imo.
I just get a feeling alot of people are trying to make it more complicated than it really is.
To me it's not that big of a deal to be honest. I quite like the Europe trolling on sotg. Having a European guest isn't exactly the end of the world though, as some make it out to be.

I'm so tempted to make that my signature!

great post. Edit (It's impossible to tell if it's sarcasm or not!! perfect)

Round robin question though really should be gone... you toss a question to 1 person, when he is done you ask around, anyone have anything else to add? is no, you toss next qusetion to seond person... rinse repeat... 4 people anwsering the same question should be reserved for very specific cases and almost never used

Just watched the episode, and I really loved the end. The BW talk really came flooding out, it seemed almost a relief for all of them to talk about it. I caught only the brief tail end of BW without Sc2, but I understand what they mean, and it was great to hear.

I don't think they really took the EU comments seriously though, which is a little sad. It's not about watching every random weekly cup, but just looking over Mikilatov's awesome tournament round-ups would really give them a good idea of which players to find some replays of, and which players to watch once in a while. Tyler was very conciliatory about LucifroN, he was absolutely right, Luci got rolled, but he was gracious enough to admit that it probably wasn't his best play. And it's completely true, LucifroN's current form is amazing. Stephano, Nerchio, and the others too. Just knowing who's been tearing through the weekly cups would be an asset for the show, I think.

they have absouletly no idea who lucifron is. the plays for 4 weeks a year and in the meantime he doesnt even touch sc2 and concentrates on studying.
so this time, he came and raped everyone again. 2 weeks before dreamhack, he continued his study and didnt focus on the game too much again - ofc he practices because of his invite, but its just not the same.

He is simply one of the greatest talents there is on this planet, if they knew anythin gabout wc3 or him as a person they would know that. They judge from 2 maps they saw form this guy vs motherfuckin DRG - how fair is that?

You can't follow and know about every single person who has potential but hasn't shown it yet. Lucifron competes in almost no big tournaments, it's entirely acceptable to not know anything about him. The onus is on the player; If he doesn't try to get his name out there and show what he can do, don't be surprised when people don't know how good he is.

No, you clearly didn't finish reading before you started raging. I clearly state that if they mesh well, and know both scene's and are willing to stay up that late then it works well.

what's really getting old is when they look at a bracket for whatever tourny is next and talk about what they think is going to happen and I agree with some people here that say that the format in which JP seems to force topics on people is bad. just giving some criticism, these are a couple of reasons why i don't watch or stick around. imo the show is held together by them joking around, otherwise it's getting stale.

It is really good; should have it's own thread. If you can understand German, it is totally worth to watch it. TL;DR: Everyone fears playing Goody

The whole reason SOTG is interesting to me at least is because of the chemistry between the hosts. I'm not necessarily looking for them to be experts on every tournament and player, and to give me recaps on everything. There are other shows for that, what I enjoy about SOTG is how its evident Incontrol, Artosis, Tyler, Day9 and JP are all good friends. They've played with and against each other for years and not only are they comfortable joking around with each other but each of them brings something to the show. The fact that they are pros/former pros/casters is a bonus and adds a little extra relevance(at least for me) when they talk about the game.

Ultimately I watch SOTG to hear Incontrol make fun of everything under the sun,see Artosis be...Artosis, watch Tyler sit quietly for 15-20 minutes then drop the Knowledge bomb, to hear Day9 giggle and laugh for over half the show then pick Select or Boxer to win everything regardless of if they're in the tournament or not, and to hear JP hit all the drama related topics then awkwardly transition out of them while bitching about fixing the overlay the whole time.

I feel like some of you watch this show JUST so you can come on here and complain about something. SOTG is a fun laid back show where you get to see everyone's personalities featured and just have a good time and I hope it stays that way.

Passion is ruining esports.

Hello, I am trying to find a specific episode where Artosis says where he went to college. Would appreciate it if anyone might be able to tell the show number! Thanks.
