I can't believe there has been so much backlash against the BW part of the last show. To be honest that was my favorite part of any sotg ever. It was so much fun for me to see these players talk with such reverence and excitement about something that meant and means so much to them. How can you not love Artosis saying he finds some BW games to be beautiful; I love seeing him talk about games like they are works of art. I thought it was awesome to see such passion and to hear them talk like the old friends they are. People need to relax and remember what makes sotg so great is a bunch of friends talking about what they love.

That's where the crux of the argument lies when it comes to comparing foreigners and Koreans. Koreans will slowly pull away once the game gets figured out and it comes down to refining builds and small little intricacies. Also when the more dedicated progamers switch over, we'll see a whole new ballgame. If you think practicing for 8 hours a day is enough, people like Jaedong and Flash (before his wrists started hurting/he went for surgery) practice for like 12 hours+ regularly.

The situation with brood war was entirely different though. The foreign starcraft 2 scene is more developed now than the BW scene ever was, and SC2 requires a lot less mechanical skill, which is what benefits the most from the extra practice.

I think the Koreans will always be ahead, but not in the same way Brood War was where no foreigners were able to compete at the highest level.

I actually liked the BW nostalgia, even though I generally don't know what they were talking about.

Just as long as it's not every week, which it won't be

If they keep telling stories like the one about Idra being told he had to win or he would be off the team, I'll listen. I feel totally bummed that I missed out on the epic win and the back story behind it. I would love to see Idra dig that deep in the current game and rip it up.

There's a problem with SotG of catastrophic proportions - the thread gets updated with new date for a show, but TL's Calendar doesn't get updated. United Nations is investigating...

I just realized while re-listening to last SotG that this world champ that Inc and all wants is found in TSL. I mean TSLs are incredibly spread out and get more hype than any other tournament out there I mean honestly TSL 3 was one of the most exciting things ever. personally I think TSL and MLG both are what everyone wants.

No. Too much lag. No online cross-server tournament can ever decide a "champion", as sad as that is. Until Blizzard works out this latency it will always be that nagging little factor in the back of your mind. =(

I feel as if people who really want a European are kind of missing the point of SOTG. It seems to me, that JP wants the show to be more of a relaxed conversation from whatever the guests want to talk about. Throwing a European in there just so 1 person will know the scene won't accomplish anything. If there's only 1 guy who really knows the European scene, players, and tournaments, then it will defeat the purpose. It takes 2 to tango.

Maybe I'm wrong, but just throwing somebody in there so he can talk about Europeans will be weird. Look at the hosts. All of them (minus JP) played SC BW. They've known each other for years. They've seen the ups and downs. Now, if JP can find a European who's known these guys for years, is extremely familiar with both the NA and European scene, gets along well with the other hosts, and is willing to stay up all night to be on the show, then yes add him. But if not, I personally feel it will just make the show extremely awkward.

I don't even understand those arguments. If one person has a better understanding of the scene that would ruin the show? So what artosis has been doing with his superior knowledge of the Korean scene is actually secretly undermining the show for his own vague, evil purposes?
I call bullshit on that one.
Naniwa, DeMuslim and TLO went on and made great shows imo.
I just get a feeling alot of people are trying to make it more complicated than it really is.
To me it's not that big of a deal to be honest. I quite like the Europe trolling on sotg. Having a European guest isn't exactly the end of the world though, as some make it out to be.

No, you clearly didn't finish reading before you started raging. I clearly state that if they mesh well, and know both scene's and are willing to stay up that late then it works well.

Yeah I'm totally raging -.-'
Why do you have to know the American scene to be on sotg? I doubt that the European guests at the time had a very clear view of the American scene, and the podcasts still turned out great.
Just saying.

I just turned it off because I wasn't interested, easy peasy.

But by now we should know that there are some people who listen/watch every week and complain every single time.
