I saw this on a stream, asked the streamer multiple times how to do it with no answer. searched for an answer but couldn't find one anywhere so here it is.

I want my pylons to only display that power ring instead of a huge blue field. somehow the blue field makes me pc lag bad on certain maps.
In the screenshot the caster clearly isn't in low details. yet i've tried to set everything to the lowest still it doesn't do it. I've looked closely at each option and did not see anything close to it. I must be missing something obvious ><
I have seen that as well. It looks like he is playing without shader support, you could try that.
the field is visible only at the lowest graphics, maybe at medium aswell, but if you set it higer then the field will look like in the picture. I think the reason the old field is still there is due to a mistake/bug and it will probably be patched
I don't know the answer but a clue might be in the variables.txt ? If you can do the frameratecap etc I imagine you can also set the settings at something for the pylon power field display.
I play at medium to high on my settings, and see the regular old power field. That (The non power field field) is likely a result of some setting being lower.
It has nothing to do with the lower-ultra graphics settings atleast, I have everything on Ultra and my circles are blue.
Lower models and shaders.
doesn't matter if i set everything to ultra or everything to the lowest i still see the field .. no ring ><
you set it lower... to LOW
it would be cool if it was an option/checkbox, as sometimes when i put a lot of pylons in my base it becomes laggy whenever i see the power view. hasn't annoyed me too much but might be a nice option for those with lower-end rigs that support shaders/see the new power view

i use that, just set everything to low and restart sc2 after

It's a shame, I hope they fix the graphics eventually, and just return the hex-grid for everyone without problems (as it used to be) - because it looks much better. The dot-circles can be very confusing especially when too many pylons are built close to each other. Also, the psionic grid is just classic already, and fundamental design element that the game should not be shown without.

agree

oh nvm managed to glitch that somehow. sorry for bumping
from my understanding the option "display build grid" in the gameplay options controlls this.
edit: im wrong
Pretty sure it's shaders and models on low
The power ring instead of the power field is supplied by Settings "Models" on "Low". I use it the other way round as I use low graphic settings, but need the blue fields for Pylons, so I need to set Models to High
It is shaders and models.
Display build grid displays boxes when you are placing your building -.- which can obviously be seen in the pic of the OP.
ok it seems that i managed to produce the dots again. i dun think it is really the shaders as i put them in high while i put the models in low, i get the dots. the dots are way cooler than the old field.
still, i reallly hope blizzard would give us such an option in the manual.
sorry for the bump again.
